India's First Double Decker 6.45Km Long Flyover (Santa Cruz - Chembur Link Road in Mumbai)
Barely 48hrs back after 11 years of construction, the Santa Cruz -- Chembur Link Road was thrown open to public. I started my journey from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and we cruise through the mighty flyover. For a few metres near Kurla, there is a signal and then Link Road continues upto Santacruz.
The Santa Cruz -- Chembur Link Road (SCLR), is a 6.45 km long arterial road in Mumbai, connecting the Western Express Highway (WEH) in Santa Cruz with the Eastern Express Highway (EEH) in Chembur.
It contains India's first double-decker flyover. The six-lane road was constructed as part of the World Bank-funded Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP) at a cost of INR454 crore (US$76 million). The World Bank withdrew funding midway through the project due to repeated delays, and the second phase was financed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) with its own funds.
Now you can reach Santacruz to Chembur in 15-20mins. Earlier it used to take 1hrs or even more.

Mumbai's Super Coastal Road
- (affliate)
Mumbai’s ambitious Coastal Road project—connecting South Bombay to the suburbs—is finally going to start in April, 2018 and be ready for use to the financial capital four years later.
Here are the key takeaways about the Coastal Road project:
- The Coastal Road will be 29.2-km long road and have as many as eight lanes. It will also have two dedicated bus lanes.
- The 15,000-crore road project will also build a tunnel in between Girgaum Chowpatty and Priyadarshini Park, through Malabar Hill. From the Park it will run along the coast and connect to Bandra-Worli sea-link.
- An underpass will be built for Haji Ali. Traffic coming from Tardeo will be directed towards BWSL.
- The first and south phase of the project will establish a link between Princess Street flyover and south end of Bandra-Worli Sea link. Following the completion of this some trouble may arise as Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has asked BMC to buy the sea-link flyover at a high price for incorporating it into the project.
- The final and north phase of the project will run from the north-end of the Bandra-Worli sea-link to Kandivali. Its construction will start after the first phase is over.
- The project will need reclamation of 186-hectare land from which 91 hectares will have to be created as green spaces. There will also be elevated roads and flyovers.
Mumbai Gets India's Second Longest Flyover!
The highly anticipated Eastern Freeway inaugurated by state's CM, Prithviraj Chavan on 14th June 2013, which is around seventeen kilometers (kms) long, will lessen journey time between South Mumbai and the Eastern suburban zones.

New Mumbai flyover will connect BKC to Chunabhatti
After missing several deadlines, BKC-Chunabhatti flyover was opened for public. The new flyover is aimed at providing direct connectivity from the business hub of BKC to the Eastern Express Highway. It is also aimed at easing traffic on the Western Express Highway that sees a lot of rush from Dharavi, Sion and Chunabatti towards BKC.
The flyover starts from G-Block of Bandra Kurla Complex and after crossing Mithi River, LBS Marg, Central Railway tracks and V N Mankikar Road leads to the Chunabhatti railway station.

Bandra Worli Sea Link, Bandra-worli sea link in mumbai, Mumbai bridge
The Bandra–Worli Sea Link, officially called Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link, is a cable-stayed bridge with pre-stressed concrete-steel viaducts on either side that links Bandra in the Western Suburbs of Mumbai with Worli in South Mumbai. The bridge is a part of the proposed Western Freeway that will link the Western Suburbs to Nariman Point in Mumbai's main business district.
Bandra Worli Sealink During Early Monsoon
The ₹16 billion (US$240 million) bridge was commissioned by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), and built by the Hindustan Construction Company. The first four of the eight lanes of the bridge were opened to the public on 30 June 2009.All eight lanes were opened on 24 March 2010.
The sea-link reduces travel time between Bandra and Worli during peak hours from 60–90 minutes to 20–30 minutes. As of October 2009, BWSL had an average daily traffic of around 37,500 vehicles. The sunrise & sunset views attract many photo enthusiasts. Stopping on the Worli sea link for photography is banned by Govt of Maharashtra.
