We Tried Egypt Street Food | Must Eat Local Dishes in Cairo
Trying Egyptian Food in Cairo - it's our second day here in Cairo, Egypt and we thought we would head on out to try some of the local Egyptian and Middle Eastern Food.
To get our pallet ready we tried Ma'An Sulta (Salad water), before getting some prickly fruit from a street food cart. We then headed to Felfela, a famous restaurant here in Cairo to have some Turkish coffee, Shorbet 'ads (lentil soup), baba ganoush (eggplant dip), ful, besara and Betinjan Maqli.
On the way to our next restaurant we tried arabic coffee for the first time, hibiscus juice as well as some white Egyptian Sobia drink before trying some home cooked Bamya.
Before we tried the most famus Egyptian dish, we had some Baskote Yansoon as we made our way towards the end of downtown to try Koshari...I am not sure how we had space for desert but managed to squeeze in Konafa, Basbousa and more...we are officially full!

Luxor Egypt Travel Guide (from Cairo to Luxor for ONLY $25 Round Trip)
Getting from Cairo to Luxor for $25 roundtrip is just the start! Here’s a peak at what 2 days in Luxor looks like - how to get there, where to stay, and of course things to do :) We went to Luxor for two days back in May and it was HOT, but we still got a chance to see all the major sights: Luxor Temple, Karnak, Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut’s Temple and Habu Temple. Luxor has a unique beauty that is fed by Nile and runs through each and every statue, pillar, and monument from thousands of years ago. It is still hard to believe that everything we saw was created by humans so long ago our modern minds can’t quite comprehend it. This place is one of the most special places we have ever visited, and it is well worth more than a couple of days to see.
If you’re interested in taking the cheap route from Cairo to Luxor via the Go-Bus like we did, check out ((

EGYPT & JORDAN | Ep1: Solo Backpacking Egypt
Solo backpacking through Egypt in the first leg of my month long trip as I travel through Egypt & Jordan.
Egypt & Jordan are undoubtedly on most people's travel bucket lists, but I've always had the impression that the majority of people travel there on an organised tour.
So I wanted to give it a go by myself and see what it was like treating it like a normal backpacking trip, staying at hostel and booking everything on the go.
This first episode covers the 3 weeks I spent solo travelling around Egypt.
Starting out in Cairo, I visited the Great Pyramids at Giza as well as exploring Islamic Cairo.
Then I took the train down to Aswan, visited Abu Simbel before boarding a 2 day cruise on the Nile to Luxor.
At Luxor I visited the Valley of the Kings, Karnak and other temples.
Then I went snorkelling and scuba diving in the Red Sea at Hurghada, Sharm el Sheikh and Dahab.

MY EgyptAir FLIGHT from ATHENS (Greece) to CAIRO (Egypt), great aerial views ✈️
SUBSCRIBE: - Flight from ATHENS (Greece) to CAIRO (Egypt), my EgyptAir flight between two historic cities, Athens and Cairo. I flew with EgyptAir and the flight took a little less than two hours. EgyptAir is the flag carrier airline of Egypt. The airline is headquartered at Cairo International Airport, its main hub, operating scheduled passenger and freight services to more than 75 destinations in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas.
Egypt, a country linking northeast Africa with the Middle East, dates to the time of the pharaohs. Millennia-old monuments sit along the fertile Nile River Valley, including Giza's colossal Pyramids and Great Sphinx as well as Luxor's hieroglyph-lined Karnak Temple and Valley of the Kings tombs. The capital, Cairo, is home to Ottoman landmarks like Muhammad Ali Mosque and the Egyptian Museum, a trove of antiquities.
Athens is the capital of Greece. It was also at the heart of Ancient Greece, a powerful civilization and empire. The city is still dominated by 5th-century BC landmarks, including the Acropolis, a hilltop citadel topped with ancient buildings like the colonnaded Parthenon temple. The Acropolis Museum, along with the National Archaeological Museum, preserves sculptures, vases, jewelry and more from Ancient Greece.
Greece is a country in southeastern Europe with thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. Influential in ancient times, it's often called the cradle of Western civilization. Athens, its capital, retains landmarks including the 5th-century B.C. Acropolis citadel with the Parthenon temple. Greece is also known for its beaches, from the black sands of Santorini to the party resorts of Mykonos.

Exploring Egypt | Travel Safety Hacks | RoamerRealm
This video is Exploring Egypt | Travel Safety Hacks | RoamerRealm
I was in Egypt on a really spontaneous trip. While 'a spontaneous trip' can mean a lot of fun & adventure, it can also mean 'running into lot of scams' basically attribute to lack of awareness and research. In my case, I reached Egypt quite late at night by a ship. If you're getting in by a plane, the entry stamp is done at the airport itself, but for me, I had to go to the immigration office (which is open 24 hrs by the way) and get this stamp. Reaching there was quite a task in itself, multiple transport and even a ferry ride was required. The office itself seemed like a shady old fashioned building and right outside is where I had my first encounter with the local touts who wanted a small fee for getting the stamp done.
It was a weekend, so, lots of people were still out. Drinking tea, smooking sheesha hookah or just casual chit chatting is the idea of relaxing socializing over the weekend. I found the people friendly and some would even wanna click a selfie or just talk with you if you're up for it. In Cairo, you would find many people espeically youngsters who speak English, but in other cities, not so much.
Most hotels will have their own sightseeing tours arrangements or contacts. Unless you're someone who SPECIFICALLY wants a guided tour, I would say skip this and step out for a more authentic Egyptian experience.
Public transport, especially the Metro is very convenient and I used that the most. Uber is quite readily available and hassle free, but while using UBER do remember that there are certain sightseeing spots which don't allow taxis to go beyond a point. For example, when at the Pyramids, I found out that if I had taken a taxi then it could have taken me only to this particular Police checkpoint.
About taxi or any service for that matter, Always negotiate a price beforehand and pay up only at the end of the trip. It may sound silly, but also specify the currency. I heard a story where a taxi guy agreed for an amout of 40 for a trip but at the end of the trip, he wanted $40 instead of LE40. And then you don't have any option but to pay up. OR you could give him the 40LE and run really fast! Just kidding! Negotiate and clarify beforehand. Another thing about taxis, to make an extra buck, the drive may try to pick up a passenger or two (heading in the same direction) and make them sit on the front seat. This is not allowed.
Once at the Pyramid complex, I was approached by a lot of 'agents' who all claimed to be official and working with the government, even had an official ID card in a sling around their neck. Anyway, so if you're looking for a guide OR a camel ride, ask the official at the ticketing office and he will point you towards the official ones. I don't know the guide charges, but the camel ride costs 50LE for 30 mins. There are shops inside the pyramid complex but everything is made in China, so, you're better off buying stuff from proper markets in the Giza city center or better still, in Cairo. Also, carry some small bills as everything attracts a fee/tip. Someone helps you with a photo (even on a request) - tip! If you want a pic with a camel - you guess it, TIP!! Some one helped you with directions - tip! Someone offered you a taste of tea EVEN IF you didn't want it - tip! I soon realized that the better thing was to request assistance from other tourists.
Some of the camel ride guys also offer a conduct tour within the premises, of course, this happens at a crazy asking price AND if you negotiate, they may agree BUT they'll just stop in the middle of nowhere and say the price you're offering only gets you till here, you can either pay me the price I asked for OR get off and start walking. Obviously, in that moment, you don't have any other choice but to agree. By the way, it gets really hot in the afternoon, so, carrying a hat, sunglasses sunscreen lotion and drinking water would come in extremely handy.
Regarding clothing, I saw a many tourists who were dressed for summer and no one seemed to object. But then again, this is a Muslim country and my approach was to be safe than sorry. Regarding food, you can play it safe & dine at the Pizza Hut or KFC which are right across the pyramid complex. There are some restaurants within the complex as well, but I chose to dine at this one right next to the Pizza hut, I can't remember the name but the food was absolutely fantastic and really affordable & again, how often do you get to dine at a restaurant with THIS view?

10 Things NOT to Do in Egypt
Get more Tips here!
When you think of Egypt, you might picture miles of sand and rock, but Egypt is home to much more than just pyramids. However, there is also some danger lingering in the nation’s corners. If you want to avoid trouble, here are some tips to help make sure your trip is nothing but great memories.
1. Don’t Engage in PDA
This means that you should avoid any kind of kissing — even a peck on the cheek — as it may be considered rude. You should also avoid hugging, too.
2. Consider a Tour Guide
Even if you’ve got a little bit of world travel experience, it's a good idea to enlist someone who is familiar with the terrain. It doesn't cost as much as you’d think.
3. Don’t Wear Sleeveless T-Shirts
Apart from Egypt’s coastal cities, the locals are a little more amenable if you stick to moderate clothing. Men should avoid sleeveless T’s and women should consider avoiding shorts.
4. Don’t Pay Sticker Price
In Egypt, they expect you to do a little bit of haggling for pretty much anything you can buy. Whether you’re picking up a pack of smokes or you’re picking out a souvenir, the merchants will expect a little bit of sport before the final purchase.
5. Don’t Cross the Street By Yourself
The traffic in Cairo is chaotic. The cars won’t stop for you, either. Fortunately, you can either follow an Egyptian as he or she crosses the street or someone will help you. They really are nice people.
6. Don’t Hire People on the Street
In the most popular tourist areas, you might be approached by strangers offering a special tour of a specific site. Don’t take them up on it. Hiring a guide is a good idea, but go through registered sources.
7. Don’t Forget to Tip
In Egypt, you should not only leave a tip when you’re in a restaurant, but you should also leave a little bit of gratuity in clothing shops and commercial outlets!
8. Don’t Pet Stray Animals
When you’re in highly populated urban areas, you’re likely to run across the occasional stray cat or a pack of stray dogs. They might look like they’re in need of some snuggles, but they might also be violent or carrying infectious diseases.
9. Don’t Drink on the Street
You might be inclined to let loose because you’re on vacation, but don’t drink any alcohol in the street. Not only is it unacceptable from a social standpoint, in some areas you might be committing a crime.
10. Don’t Worry About Punctuality
If you make plans to meet some place with an Egyptian local, don’t be surprised if they’re late. It’s not a personal slight, just go with it.
Where do you want to know what not to do in next?

Egypt Travel Diaries | Nile Cruise - Aswan to luxor |
Travel video about destination Nile Cruise in Egypt.
A cruise on the Nile in the wake of the ancient Egyptians, an adventure into the world of the Pharaohs and the exploration of their mammoth culture. A three-kilometre avenue of sphinxes leads from Luxor to Karnak.
The necropolis covers 25 km² and the graves of 64 kings, queens and those in High Office have been discovered there. With the exception of Amenophis, each of the pharaohs of the new realm was buried in the necropolis, as well as the legendary, Tutanchamun.
Edfu with its tower, outer walls, buildings and halls is still in almost perfect condition and at its entrance royal falcons carved from granite stand guard. Its walls are an authentic history book of Egyptian myth and legend.
The Egyptian gods are everywhere as impressive statues, fragile carvings and paintings. Kom Ombo is a temple complex for two deities, Horus the Falcon and Sobek the Crocodile.
This island, with its fantastic temple complexes, was once the pearl of Egypt, an impressive country that has an amazing ancient history and a modern awareness of its glorious past.
