Kalymnos, Greece - Kalymnos Town & Pothia - AtlasVisual
Kalymnos Video Map:
Kalymnos Town is located 3 km northwest of Pothia and for many centuries was the capital of the Kalymnos. Today the village is an extension of Pothia. It is built in a valley away from the sea because of pirates. It is a place that still keeps the traditions alive. In the area are Kalymnos' major attractions.
Pothia is the capital and the port of Kalymnos. A densely populated area is built at the beginning of Pothia. Here, visitors encounter a wide variety of traditional houses with strong neoclassical elements. In the Archaeological Museum of Kalymnos, there are a large number of ancient bronze and marble sculptures, tools, pottery, weapons and coins which show the evolution of Kalymnos from the prehistoric to Byzantine times. In Pothia there are also Maritime and Folk Museums. Another attraction of Kalymnos is the Church of Saint Savvas which dominates the west side of the harbor where the view is breathtaking.

KALYMNIKO SPITI (Kalymnian house) is an individual effort to preserve and promote the Kalymnian traditional way of life in the last century ! Spending lots of time and resources , Mrs Faneromeni Skylla achieved to collect these items from all over the island of Kalymnos , to record stories , experiences , knowledge and present them in the very few sq. meters of her house.
The aim was to create a living history of the traditional
house , significant daily activities ,social events and ofcourse the epical Kalymnian sponge diver!

Karditsa, Central Greece, Official Video (from Ecotourism-Greece.com)
Welcome to the region of Karditsa and its stunning Lake Plastira! Explore the villages and local tavernas around the lake and further afield, then drive through the nature of Mouzaki and Smokovo. Gratifying stone architecture, little hotels, Swiss-like forests, natural spas and many venerable monasteries await visitors. Try your hand at skydiving or cross the gorge of Mega Rema. This might be a landlocked prefecture, but with the lake and waterfalls, you'll never feel it. Traces of ancient civilizations, classical bridges and folk museums add must-see attractions to your trip across the region. Lastly, stop in the cozy bike-friendly City of Karditsa to discover its museums and its central garden of Pafsilipo for a leisurely coffee among the peacocks. This official video was filmed by the Prefectural Directorate of Karditsa.
Agios Fanourios Kefalas DSCF4293
On the 26th of August we celebrate the anniversary of Agios Fanourios (The Saint of Miracles) at the tiny church built out of stones by Vangelis on the road from Vamos as it enters the Cretan village of Kefalas.
On the stone church are the words Welcome to Kefalas. Most visitors think it's simply a monument.
Vangelis is also the curator of Kefalas Folklore Museum, which is open between 8pm and 10pm on most summer evenings. The museum is in Kefalas square, next to the school playground. There's also an RAF plaque in the square; see if you can find it!
