Folly Beach Vacation Rental Folly's Big Chill 843-580-3731
3 Bedrooms • 3 & 1/2 Bathrooms • Sleeps 10
This PET FRIENDLY & EVENT FRIENDLY home just hit the rental market so almost all SUMMER 2015 Weeks are still open so if you waited until the last minute you are in luck!!! Only a 20 Minute Drive from Historic Downtown Charleston this Summer Weekly Rental home “The Big Chill” is a Modern Construction home with ICE COLD Central Air and has 3 BIG bedrooms with 3 & 1/2 baths and sleeps 10, the Master is actually a suite with separate living space from the bed area & HUGE Master Bath, huge private back yard, outdoor bar, outdoor shower, lots of deck space, wrap around front porch, back screen porch, well appointed kitchen with barstool areas, 8 person dining space, plenty of off-street parking & this home is WALKING DISTANCE to everything Folly Beach has to offer. The beach is only a 5 minute walk away with a Public Beach Access at the end of the street & there are multiple Golf Cart rental companies so you can easily get a cart for the week and drive right to the access in less than a minute which has special Golf Cart parking spots. Even though this home is not beach front I can’t stress enough how nice it is to be able to walk to the Center Street area of Folly Beach where all the Shops, Restaurants, Fishing Pier, River Park & Bars are located. Let me just tell you, what a lot of people don’t know about Folly is that it is a really long Island (7 miles long) and that all the fun stuff other then the beach are all at Center Street so a lot of times you might rent a Front Beach home that’s awesome for the beach but you have to drive to get anywhere else on the Island and parking in Downtown Folly is CRAZY in the summer so being able to walk everywhere is really something to consider, not to mention the fact that if this home was Ocean Front it would rent for $7000 or more a week instead of $3250!!!
Call or text 843-580-3731 we answer our phone from 9am to 9pm eastern time 7 days a week.

Conditions getting worse on Folly Beach
The conditions on Folly Beach are continuing to get worse.
The City of Folly Beach has moved to OPCON 1, which signals that emergency conditions are in effect and the Emergency Operation Center is at the highest state of emergency operations.
Access to Folly Beach is currently unrestricted and businesses are permitted to open if they choose to do so. However, if winds become sustained at 40 mph, it is not safe to have vehicles on roads and bridges and emergency responders will not be able to respond to calls at that time.
Due to the increased threat of rip currents and high surf, residents and visitors are discouraged from entering the water. All swimming and surfing activity is dangerous. Emergency responders will not be able to conduct water rescues.
Additional risks to Folly Beach include tropical storm force winds, tornadoes, rain and storm surge. Heavy rain will likely last throughout the day on Monday. The combination of rain and storm surge will result in coastal flooding especially on either side of high tide. High tide on Monday is at 12:49 p.m. and 1:11 a.m. on Tuesday. You are asked to use extreme caution, do not drive into flooded roads.

VANLIFE #53 - Folly Beach, try to get a free shower, up to Columbia
They told us to go to Folly Beach, There should be places where you can shower, there's a pier and some nice fishing spots. We saw a dirty beach and the showers where out of order. Even the restrooms at some spots where locked down. We tried to get a shower at Gold's Gym, but even after talking to the manager. No luck...
So, up to Columbia!

Don't Believe The Lies
Beverly-Triton Beach
July 6th, 2016
Access To The Natural Beauty Of Beverly-Triton Park Has Been Open To The Public For Nearly Two Years Now.
The Anne Arundel Public Water Access Commission, A Small Group Of Self Proclaimed Activists Appointed By County Executive Schuh To Develop Natural Spaces Throughout AACo, Is Now Stating That This Park Is Not Up To Their Elitist Standards. They Are Stating That They Do Not Have Access To The Park Because The Park Does Not Have Paved Trails, Paved Parking Lots, Large Group Picnic Shelters, Bath Houses, A Dog Park And Other Luxuries They Claim Define Access.
With The Full Support Of County Executive Schuh And The Capital Newspaper, This Group Is Spreading Lies That Mayo Residents Are Preventing Access To The Park. Their True Goal Is To Make The Public Think They Are Fighting For Access To The Park While Working In The Shadows To Get AACo To Spend An Estimated $4.3 Million Dollars Of Tax Payers Money To Develop Their Own High End Luxury Retreat, Forever Changing The Beautiful Landscape Of This Natural Park.
Mayo Residents Welcome All Visitors To Come Enjoy This Natural Preserve. We Only Ask That You Help Us To Fight To Keep The Park As Is, With All Of Its Natural Beauty, For Generations To Come To Enjoy.
Please Visit Our Page And Sign The Petition To Keep Beverly-Triton Beach In Its Current Natural State Instead Of A Tax Payer Funded Playground For The Countys Elite.

USS Yorktown (CV/CVA/CVS-10) is one of 24 Essex-class aircraft carriers built during World War II for the United States Navy. She is named after the Battle of Yorktown of the American Revolutionary War, and is the fourth U.S. Navy ship to bear the name. Initially to have been named Bonhomme Richard, she was renamed Yorktown while under construction to commemorate USS Yorktown (CV-5), lost at the Battle of Midway in June 1942. Yorktown was commissioned in April 1943, and participated in several campaigns in the Pacific Theater of Operations, earning 11 battle stars and the Presidential Unit Citation. Decommissioned shortly after the end of the war, she was modernized and recommissioned in the early 1950s as an attack carrier (CVA), and then eventually became an antisubmarine carrier (CVS). She was recommissioned too late to participate in the Korean War but served for many years in the Pacific, including duty in the Vietnam War, in which she earned five battle stars. Late in her career, she served as a recovery ship for the Apollo 8 space mission, and was used in the movie Tora! Tora! Tora! which recreated the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor; and in the science fiction film The Philadelphia Experiment. Yorktown was decommissioned in 1970 and in 1975 became a museum ship at Patriots Point, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. She is a National Historic Landmark.
USS Laffey (DD-724) is an Allen M. Sumner-class destroyer, which was constructed during World War II, laid down and launched in 1943, and commissioned in February 1944. The ship earned the nickname The Ship That Would Not Die for her exploits during the D-Day invasion and the battle of Okinawa when she successfully withstood a determined assault by conventional bombers and the most unrelenting kamikaze air attacks in history. Today, Laffey is a U.S. National Historic Landmark and is preserved as a museum ship at Patriots Point, outside Charleston, South Carolina.[4]
Laffey was the second ship of the United States Navy to be named for Bartlett Laffey. Seaman Laffey was awarded the Medal of Honor for his stand against Confederate forces on 5 March 1864.
USS Clamagore (SS-343) is a Balao-class submarine, presently a museum ship at the Patriot's Point Naval & Maritime Museum outside Charleston, South Carolina. Built in 1945 for the United States Navy, she was still in training when World War II ended. She was named for the clamagore. A National Historic Landmark, she is the only known surviving example of a GUPPY type submarine. It will soon be sunk as a reef due to deterioration.
Castle Pinckney was a small masonry fortification constructed by the United States government by 1810, in the harbor of Charleston, South Carolina.[2][3] It was used very briefly as a prisoner-of-war camp (six weeks) and artillery position during the American Civil War. It was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.
Fort Sumter is a sea fort in Charleston, South Carolina, notable for two battles of the American Civil War. It was one of a number of special forts planned after the War of 1812, combining high walls and heavy masonry, and classified as Third System, as a grade of structural integrity. Work started in 1829, but was incomplete by 1860, when South Carolina seceded from the Union.
The First Battle of Fort Sumter began on April 12, 1861, when Confederate artillery fired on the Union garrison. These were the first shots of the war and continued all day, watched by many civilians in a celebratory spirit. The fort had been cut off from its supply line and surrendered the next day. The Second Battle of Fort Sumter (September 8, 1863) was a failed attempt by the Union to retake the fort, dogged by a rivalry between army and navy commanders. Although the fort was reduced to rubble, it remained in Confederate hands until it was evacuated as General Sherman marched through South Carolina in February 1865. Fort Sumter is open for public tours as part of the Fort Sumter National Monument operated by the National Park Service.
Fort Moultrie is a series of fortifications on Sullivan's Island, South Carolina, built to protect the city of Charleston, South Carolina. The first fort, formerly named Fort Sullivan, built of palmetto logs, inspired the flag and nickname of South Carolina, as The Palmetto State. The fort was renamed for the U.S. patriot commander in the Battle of Sullivan's Island, General William Moultrie.
