Singapore Food Tour at Old Airport Road Hawker Food Centre - Hokkien Fried Mee & Toa Payoh Rojak!
Join me on a Singapore food tour of the famous Old Airport Road Food Centre!
►SINGAPORE FOOD GUIDE:
►SINGAPORE TRAVEL GUIDE:
The best Singapore food blog is run by Dr. Leslie Tay ( and back in 2010 he conducted a survey asking people about what they though was the best or their favorite hawker food center in Singapore. Old Airport Road Food Centre won by a significant margin, so it’s quite safe to say this hawker centre is among the best and one of the local favorites in the city. I think it’s such a great place to eat in Singapore mainly because it’s big, it’s spacious, there’s a huge selection of different things to eat, and since it’s one of the oldest hawker centers in Singapore, it’s also home to some legendary food stalls.
Whitley Road Big Prawn Mee - Ying decided to first order a bowl of prawn mee (prawn noodles) from Whitley Road Big Prawn Mee - the main reason we went here is because the stall was continually busy with plenty of customers, and both of us love to eat shrimp. The yellow noodles came topped with some tangly prawns and doused in a salty shrimp tasting sauce with soup on the side. The dish was good, but a little on the salty side.
Nam Sing Hokkien Fried Mee - Probably one of the most famous Singapore food stalls at this centre is Nam Sing Hokkien Fried Mee, known for serving a popular version of fried hokkien mee noodles. The mix of both yellow and white rice noodles was mixed with prawns and squid and then blended in a special sauce. It wasn’t a fried dry noodles, but it wasn’t overly sauce, but it was somewhere in between. I quite liked it, especially with a squeeze of calamansi and some of the chili soy sauce on it.
Toa Payoh Rojak - Along with the fried Hokkien mee stall, this place for rojak is another one of the most famous places to eat at this centre. As soon as Toa Payoh Rojak opens for the day, they have a continuous long line of customers, and they specialize in serving Chinese style rojak - a mix of different things all coated in a sweet shrimp paste glaze. It’s one of those dishes that somewhere halfway in between a dessert and a savory snack, and when you’re eating it, you really don’t know. The Chinese rojak was quite good, with a very pleasant balance taste.
Wang Wang Crispy Curry Puffs - Finally, for my last thing to eat at Old Airport Road Food Centre I really wanted to try some curry puffs. The curry puffs were actually much better than I had anticipated, with incredibly flaky crust, and filled with a flavorful inside of curried potatoes. Amazing especially because they were fried so fresh.

Best Singapore food tour guide 2019, exploring Hawker center
Singapore food tour by BuleKulineran
So our Street Food Tour in Singapore started of course at the Hainanese Chicken Rice Tian-Tian at the Maxwell Food Center. The Hainanese Chicken Rice Tian-Tian is also awarded with a Michelin Star and became very famous. I love the slimy skin of the chicken and this very rich and tasty rice which is cooked with the chicken stock. So Hainanese Chicken Rice Tian-Tian is defenetly a place you should visit when you are in Singapore, it's just on the opposite site of Chinatown food street.
After the hainan chicken rice we had a few hours in the famous Singapore botanic garden which is astonishing, afterwards we got an ice cream in a bread on the street which you find almost everywhere in Singapore, very unique.
If I am going to Singapore or Kuala Lumpur i definitely always eat Masala dosa or also called Masala Tosai which is a southern Indian breakfast dish with potato filling in the inside and some chutneys and curry, i love it.
We started our final day with a traditional Singapore breakfast at a Hawker Centre, it's called Kaya toast. This Kaya toast is actually just a toast with a lot of butter and some coconut jam but worth to try.
Afterwards we traveled to the suburbs of Singapore to find Street food or maybe better called Hawker Center food which was recommended by a local. Here we found Beef Kwetiau which is very rich and sooo good! Worth a try!
Before leaving Singapore, we felt like we didn't had enough street food so we went back to the Maxwell hawker center where we found another food vendor awarded with the Michelin Star, here we got some Singapore Rojak which is like a very rich Salad with a peanut sauce and we got popiah which is kind of a vegetarian spring roll.
Both dishes were really rich because of the added nuts.

SINGAPORE STREET FOOD tour | Best street food in Singapore | UNIQUE SINGAPOREAN street food
In this 4 part series, we’re travelling all over Singapore to show you the best local food. Singapore has an exciting street food culture and great food can be found at hawker centres and small restaurants all over the island. In this video we’re eating some Singaporean classics as well as hunting down some lesser known local favourites. We start with a traditional Singaporean breakfast of kaya (coconut jam) toast and eggs at Ya Kun. This coffee shop inspired this local tradition and the original shop is still run by members of the family despite them having franchises all over Singapore. Next up we eat a mouthwatering curry chicken noodle soup at Ah Heng and then head off to Kampong Glam the Malay-Muslim quarter for murtabak- a type of stuffed flatbread from Victory Restaurant which has been in business for over a hundred years. We finish with rojak- a local fruit salad from a stall which is widely regarded as doing the best version on the whole island. We hope you enjoyed this Singapore street food tour! #singaporestreetfood #streetfood #singaporefood

MUST TRY Singapore NOODLES! TRADITIONAL Noodle Tour of Singapore
Last day in Singapore and I wanted to try some of the best noodle places in this country. I started off with some pork noodles at Jalan Tua Kong Lau Lim Mee Pok - the Art of Mee Pok, which really started my day off right with some delicious porky noodles and amazing broth. Then it's over to Noodle Story for some sauce think noodles. I wanted some Chinese inspired noodles as well, which was why I stopped at Lan Xiang Ban Mian for a bowl of hand made noodled and finished the noodle day with some laksa!

BEST SINGAPORE STREET FOOD | TOP Singaporean dishes | SINGAPORE street food in HAWKER CENTERS
In this 4 part series, we’re travelling all over Singapore to show you the best local food. Singapore has an exciting street food culture and great food can be found at hawker centres and small restaurants all over the island. In this video we’re eating some Singaporean local favourites.
We start with fried Hokkien prawn mee at a stall in Toa Payoh food centre- a family business that has been running since the 60s- it’s the best Hokkien prawn mee we’ve had in Singapore to date. Next up we head to Fatty Cheong Roast- famous for their char siew (barbecue pork). They use the meat from under the armpit of the pig and it’s said to be super flavoursome. We cool down with a cendol next- a must eat snack/dessert in this part of the world made up of shaved ice, gula melaka, pandan noodles and coconut milk. Finally we finish with a bowl of heritage wantan noodles- simple, well executed comfort food from a noodle cart turned restaurant which is using a 3 generations old family recipe. Hope you enjoyed this Singapore street food tour! #singaporefood #singaporestreetfood #singaporeanfood

We’re Thomas and Sheena, food and travel fiends. We travel full time, hunting for the BEST local food in the world to showcase via our YouTube videos. Food is a window into a country's culture and one of the most exciting ways to get to know a place.
We're all about eating what and where the locals eat. You won't find food that's been created merely to be social media worthy on here- no rainbow bagels, gold leaf soft serves- just genuine, authentic food that tastes incredible.
From street food to mom and pop restaurants, we want to show you the best and most authentic food we find on our travels.

Today we head to Chinatown in Singapore to two hawker centres, Amoy Street Food Centre and Chinatown Complex to try Michelin Bib Gourmand hawker stands. Michelin Bib Gourmand is a distinction, a honor that highlights restaurants that serve high-quality food at reasonable prices. We also tried one hawker stand that got a Michelin Star in Singapore!
Amoy Street Food Centre is more of a hawker centre for locals working around the area but they have SO many gems!
Address: 7 Maxwell Road MND Building Annexe B, Singapore 069111
Chinatown Complex Food Centre is in the heart of Chinatown and serves some incredibly yummy Singaporean eats. Honestly you cannot go wrong with any of the hawker food in Singapore. Seriously the BEST!

Singapore Meetup at Tiong Bahru Market
►SINGAPORE FOOD GUIDE:
►SINGAPORE TRAVEL GUIDE:
When Ying and I were in Singapore we had a YouTube fan meet-up, the first one ever. It turned out to be an amazing time to meet so many amazing people, all with a passion for food.
Once the meetup started and people started arriving, I wasn’t able to film any, but I did film some before and after the main part of the meetup.
If you came out to the meetup at Tiong Bahru in Singapore, I want to say a big thank you, it was great to meet you!
