Top 10 Indian Street Foods in Bengaluru, India | The BEST INDIAN Street Food in Bengaluru
The trip I took through India in November of 2018 with my friend Sam is one of the most amazing adventures I’ve been on. We explored seven cities in total. Our fourth city, Bengaluru, had some of the most spectacular street foods of the entire trip. These are my top 10 Indian street foods in Bengaluru, India!
1. Dosa with Potato Filling at Vidyarthi Bhavan
One of the best dosas I had in Bengaluru was at a popular restaurant called Vidyarthi Bhavan. It’s covered in ghee and is flaky and crispy on the outside and soft and spongy on the inside. The dosa and potato filling with the sambar and the coconut chutney was a flavor explosion in my mouth!
2. Kara & Kesari Bath at Vidyarthi Bhavan
This next Indian street food is made up of two separate dishes: Kara Bath and Kesari Bath. Kara Bath is a savory and spicy semolina dish, and Kesari Bath is a sweet semolina dish made with sugar, ghee, and milk. When eaten together, they balance each other out and create a sweet, spicy, and savory mixture!
3. Spicy Non-Veg Food at Shivaji Military Hotel
Shivaji Military Hotel is famous for its spicy, non-veg food. Among the highlights are the mutton biryani, cucumber salad, chicken fry, mutton dry, chilli chicken, and liver. My favorite was the liver, which was tender and buttery and served in a delicious gravy!
4. Thatte Idli on VV Puram Food Street
One of the best dishes you’ll find at VV Puram Food Street is the Thatte Idli, which is three or four times the size of a regular idli. It’s served with spicy coconut and tomato chutneys that make this dish a gamechanger!
5. Floating Pani Puri on VV Puram Food Street
A little further along VV Puram Food Street, you’ll find a stall selling Floating Pani Puri, which is Pani Puri that’s floating in a plate of pani or jaljeera water. It has a spicy kick and the jaljeera water adds a whole new element that feels familiar and new at the same time!
6. Nitrogen Wafer on VV Puram Food Street
One of the big attractions along VV Puram Food Street is the nitrogen wafer. This is a wafer that’s frozen in liquid nitrogen. When you put it in your mouth, it releases vapor that makes you look like you’re breathing smoke! It’s quite a spectacle!
7. Dosa with Aloo Masala at CTR
Next up is the dosa with aloo masala at CTR. The dosa is thin and crispy in some spots, and soft and doughy in others. The aloo masala combined with the mint and coconut chutneys gives it an undeniable southern Indian flavor profile!
8. Southern Indian Thali at Nagarjuna Restaurant
The southern Indian thali at Nagarjuna Restaurant is served on a banana leaf and contains ghee rice, palya, Chicken Nagarjuna, dal with spinach, peanut chutney, payasam, and more. It’s so aromatic it’ll have you drooling before you even take a bite!
9. Sheek Sambo Rolls at Shahi Kabab
My first beef experience in India was with the Sheek Sambo Rolls at Shahi Kabab, which consist of 6 tender and juicy beef kebabs that are wrapped in a roti with a mound of onions. The meat is perfectly seasoned and the dish as a whole is super hearty, tasty, and filling!
10. Chicken Shawarma at Empire Restaurant
The tenth and final food on my list is the chicken shawarma at Empire Restaurant. The chicken is cooked on a vertical rotisserie and placed in a slightly charred pita with coleslaw and a spicy yogurt sauce. All together, it makes a crunchy, creamy, and spicy chicken wrap that is out of this world!

EXTREME Indian STREET FOOD Tour of VV Puram FOOD STREET | Bengaluru, India
My trip to India in November of 2018 was one for the books. After falling in love with India earlier in the year in January and February, I finally made my way back for a life-changing journey through the country that I will never forget. And I did it all with my buddy Sam from Sam & Audrey.

My first day in Bengaluru was coming to a close, but just because the sun was going down doesn’t mean I was done scouring the city for more epic food experiences! Come along with me, Sam, and our boy Abhishek as we head out on an amazing nighttime street food tour of VV Puram Food Street in Bengaluru!
My Film Making Kit ►
VV Puram Food Street is an extremely popular street in Bengaluru that is lined with food stalls as far as the eye can see. I had heard a lot about the food in this city for months before I came and I knew my taste buds were in for a treat!
First up, we had a huge idli called Thatte Idli, which is easily two or three times the size of a regular idli. It was served with coconut chutney and tomato chutney. It was soft and fluffy like always, and the chutneys were a little spicy, but that’s what I like! The bland flavor of the idli was the perfect counterbalance to the extremely flavorful chutneys.
As we traveled through the dense crowd, we spotted some people sharing some nitrogen biscuits, which I’d had during my first trip to India. But this time, I was here for the floating pani puri, which is pani puri that is served in a plate filled with jaljeera water. It was absolutely incredible. It was a little spicy, and one of the best pani puris I’ve ever had in my life! And yes, of course I drank the jaljeera water!
Then Sam tried a chili shot, one of the ingredients in the pani puri. It’s very strong on its own!
Next, we had some sugarcane juice that was infused with ginger. Even with the ginger, it was surprisingly refreshing and helped to cool our mouths down after the spicy pani puri.
After my mouth had cooled off, I was ready to heat it up again, this time with one of the most extreme foods you’ll find in India, Fire Paan! In this wild version of regular paan, the ingredients inside are lit on fire and shoved into your mouth by the vendor. It looks insane, but it’s actually totally safe! It was crunchy, minty, smoky, and absolutely delicious! There was also some dried fruit inside. The energy boost you get from it hits you hard and fast, and I was wired almost immediately afterward!
Our next culinary adventure was fried cauliflower with a delicious red sauce from a friendly stranger who let us try their food! The sauce was tomato-based and wasn’t spicy at all. We followed that up with potato twisters, which is a spiralized potato that’s skewered on a stick and then friend until it’s extremely crunchy. The tanginess from the piri piri on it was fantastic!
Next, we tried the nitrogen wafer, a crunchy, freezing cold snack that makes you look like you’re breathing steam when it interacts with the body heat from your mouth! We followed that up with the Dragon Breath, a nitrogen ice cream that does the same thing! We spent a while playing around with the nitrogen treats with some fellow food seekers and just had a good time with them!
Our next treat was roasted chilli corn, which is corn on the cob that is roasted and filled with chilies, ghee, and lime juice. While you can’t see any chilies in it, don’t be fooled. It has a kick that sneaks up on you!
Next, we had a piping hot sweet roti, which was very doughy. The saccharine flavor of the added jaggery made is super sweet, but delicious! But at that point, I was stuffed!
I hope you enjoyed this extreme nighttime food tour of VV Puram Food Street! If you did, please give this video a thumbs up, leave me a comment below, and please subscribe to my channel if you haven’t already so you don’t miss out on any of my upcoming food and travel content!

EXTREME Indian STREET FOOD Tour of VV Puram FOOD STREET | Bengaluru, India
SAVORY Indian STREET FOOD Tour for MEAT LOVERS in Frazer Town | Bengaluru, India
In November of 2018, I had the pleasure of re-visiting one of my all-time favorite travel destinations: India. I first visited the country roughly ten months earlier, and this time I dove even deeper by eating and sightseeing my way through seven incredible cities with my travel buddy Sam from Samuel and Audrey.

Our forty-eight hours in Bengaluru, formerly known as Bangalore, were quickly coming to a close, but I knew I had to have one final hurrah in the city and try some stellar non-veg food! Come along with me, Sam, and our friend Abhishek (a.k.a. Shekzilla) for another exciting street food adventure in Bengaluru!
My Film Making Kit ►
We kicked off our nighttime street food tour of Frazer Town with a stop at Shahi Kabab for some Sheek Sambo Rolls, which consists of six beef kebabs and generous portion of onions, all rolled up in a roti. It was my first time having beef in India and it did not disappoint. It was amazing! The beef was spicy and seasoned perfectly. The heat hit me afterward, and at just roughly $2.85 US, it was a hearty, tasty, and inexpensive way to start off our food tour!
Our next stop was Empire Restaurant, the most famous restaurant in Bengaluru, to try some butter chicken, ghee rice, grilled chicken, and shawarma. Butter chicken is chicken that is served in a rich, creamy, and buttery tomato-based sauce. It wasn’t hot at all and was incredible with the ghee rice. The grilled chicken was spicy and juicy and came with a delicious sauce. I followed that with some Mosambi juice, which is a refreshing and naturally sweet lime juice that is said to have lots of health benefits.
Next at Empire, we went with the chicken shawarma, which was made by cutting up the chicken, mixing it with a coleslaw-like salad and yogurt sauce, and stuffing it into a delicious, chewy, and slightly charred rolled pita. The vegetables inside were fantastic and I loved the spicy yogurt sauce!
From there, we walked over to a small, roadside stall called Taj Tea House, for some piping hot lemon chai that’s served in a tiny glass and is made with lots of sugar, a bit of lime juice, and a mint leaf for garnish. It had a very strong lemon taste, almost like straight lemon juice! It reminded me of some teas I had in Morocco and Jordan. It was so good I bought another one, and at just 10 rupees (or 10-15 cents US), it was more than worth it!
We ended our street food tour with a visit to an ice cream parlor called Corner House, where I tried their Death by Chocolate, a huge, rich, and decadent sundae that contains vanilla ice cream, chocolate cake, cream, honey, chocolate sauce, peanuts, and cherries. There was a lot of honey flavor and the chocolate cake was like a thick brownie. The peanuts added a nice crunch, but look out for the cherry seeds!
I hope you had fun joining me, Sam, and Abhishek as we gorged on the savory, meaty, sweet, and super-rich fare of Frazer Town! If you did, please give this video a thumbs up and leave me a comment below. And please subscribe to my channel so you don’t miss out on any of my upcoming food and travel content!

SAVORY Indian STREET FOOD Tour for MEAT LOVERS in Frazer Town | Bengaluru, India

NON-VEG Food Tour in FRAZER TOWN | Bangalore Food Tour | Karnataka Food Tour
Frazer Town in Bangalore has some of the best food joints for all meat lovers. This street usually is one of the most lit and crowded areas during Ramzan. Our trip down to Frazer town, was one yummy meaty journey.
We tried the Anda Keema Roti, which is flour dough stuffed with spiced minced meat and eggs. This dish is quite similar to the Mughlai Parantha, which is quite popular in Bengali cuisine, but the stuffing and spices is what makes it completely different. Of course we had to drink Chai after this fried meal. This area is mostly a Muslim dominated area which is why the food here has a Muslim as well as an Arabic influence. And even the Chai we had here was not the mundane milk tea, it was Sulemani Chai. The Chai has a hint of lemon and cumin in it which makes it super unique.
We landed at Savoury Restaurant for a taste of the Arabic and found ourselves chomping on Shawarma, and later some classic Bakhlava. Our trip though, would not have been complete without visiting Corner House. This place is recommended by everyone we talked so we just had to go there. And boy it was worth it!!! Vanilla ice cream, chocolate cake and a chocolate sauce which is made in-house and is to die for! Trust us, this rich little dessert is worth making a trip down from Delhi to Bangalore. You will forget your Hot Chocolate Fudge cravings once you have tasted this.
We ended our food fiesta with a whole lotta meat. I mean our entire table was full of some iconic meat dishes that are most popular amongst the Muslim community and are truly delicious!

BANGALORE Food Tour - GHEE Roast DOSA, DAIRY MILK Sandwich | Karnataka Food Tour
Bangalore has some of the most delicious food to offer and we found ourselves right in the middle of this food hub. Most of the dishes that we tried were breakfast meals.
At Sidappa we discovered some of the softest with sagu, Chitranna and half dosa. This place surely felt like a canteen, but the food was nothing like the normal canteens we are used to. The food here is made with utmost care and it is absolutely worth it.
Our journey took us to some of the most popular joints in Bangalore serving scrumptious idlis and super crispy masala dosa. We got to taste the famous masala dosa at Vidhyarthi Bhawan. This place is known for making thick, soft yet crispy Dosas for almost 75 years! We also tried Puliyogare at the the Puliyogare point, along with some super rich and sweet pongal.
A trip to the south is never complete without a hot cup of filter coffee and Brahmin's Coffee Point serves some of the strongest coffee we have ever tasted. Our day was made even more special at Meghana Foods where we tried delicious Andhra style Biryani.
We also tried a unique sandwich which is made from milk chocolate and cheese. An entire bar of chocolate is put between to slices of along with cheese and grilled. We have never tasted something so tasty. The combination of the chocolate and cheese is a must try!
Our journey ended with feasting like a King at MTR. The thali served here is good enough to keep you satisfied for the entire day. From Dosa, Puri and vada to different types of rice dishes, vegetables and dals and of course three kinds of desserts. It is the meal of a lifetime.

DEATHLY SPICY Southern INDIAN FOOD + Attractions | Bengaluru, India
In November of 2018, I visited India for the second time that year after falling in love with the country the first time around. For this trip, I decided to explore seven new cities with my buddy Sam from Sam & Audrey.

After an outstanding breakfast on my first morning in Bengaluru with our new friend Anashwara, our exploration of the city continued with sightseeing at some amazing local attractions and a spicy meal at a local restaurant! Come along with us as we explore the magnificent city of Bengaluru!
My Film Making Kit ►
We started off at Bangalore Fort, a former mud fort that is now made of granite and dates back to 1537, when it was built by Kempe Gowda I during the Vijayanagara Empire. The fort played a role in the Third Mysore War when it was captured by the army of the British East India Company in March of 1791. Today, the fort’s Delhi gate and two bastions still remain, and a marble plaque commemorates the spot where the British breached the fort's wall.
Inside the massive, foot-thick gates is a temple, a little statue of Nandi (a gate-guardian deity that is usually depicted as a bull), and beautiful carvings of different animals around a tiny doorway. Throughout the fort are massive walls built with giant blocks of stone and a garden. Unlike other Indian forts I’ve visited, Bangalore Fort is free, so go check it out!
Before we headed over to Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace, we made a quick stop for some cold and refreshing sugarcane juice with lime. It was super sweet and the perfect way to beat the Bengaluru heat!
Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace was built in 1791 and is a beautiful example of Indo-Islamic architecture. As the name suggests, it was the summer residence of Tipu Sultan, a Mysorean ruler who died in the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War. The palace is built entirely of teak and boasts many pillars, arches, and balconies.
There’s a huge terrace inside with balconies and walkways branching off of it, as well as multiple rooms below and a garden outside. The palace is gorgeous, but beware: the entry fee for foreigners is 300 rupees, compared to just 25 for locals. If you come to take photos, be sure to bring a lens that can capture in low light.
Next, it was time for lunch at Shivaji Military Hotel, which is famous for its spicy non-veg dishes. Here, in order to get a seat, you just stand around and wait for someone to get up to leave! All patrons eat off of banana leaves, which you clean with water before you add your food.
With eight different foods on our leaves, including mutton biryani, ghee rice, chicken biryani, cucumber salad, chicken fry, mutton dry, chilli chicken, and liver, I couldn’t wait to dive in! As is tradition in South India, I ate everything with my hands, starting with the mutton biryani, which contained huge, tender chunks of mutton. Next, I tried the liver, which was so buttery and tender, and then I added the gravy from it to the biryani. It was minty and earthy and oh so good!
The mutton dry was fatty and had an unreal flavor and texture, while the chicken fry was so spicy it cleared my sinuses! The chilli chicken was also very hot, and mixing the ghee rice with the different sauces and meats was unbelievably good. It was so buttery! The milky cucumber salad helped calm down the heat. I also loved mixing the light and peppery biryani gravy with the rice.
Without a doubt, my favorite dish was the liver. The sauce and spices took it to a whole new level!
I hope you enjoyed coming along with us for our southern Indian lunch and fort and palace tour! If you did, please give this video a thumbs up and leave me a comment below! And please subscribe to my channel if you haven’t already so you don’t miss out on any of my upcoming food and travel content!

Bangalore BREAKFAST Food Tour | GREEN Idli, BHAAT (RICE) Dosa | Bangalore Food Tour
We have all tasted Dosa and Idli at some point in our lives, but the ones we tasted in Bangalore are not even close to what we have had earlier. The kind of variety, of just these two dishes, available in Bangalore is mind boggling. So we decided to try as many varieties of Dosa and idli and a few more dishes as we could.
Our journey began at Veena stores with some Super Soft IDLI, VADA, BISIBELE BHAAT and KHARA BHAAT. Mind you, ALL OF THIS, is just breakfast!
The first thing North Indians like us notice, is the coconut chutney which is quite different to the one we get. The chutney is not white at all, in fact it is green in colour with a little bit of green chillies and mint added. This chutney is super flavourful and an absolute necessity with just about any dish. After the super soft melt-in-the-mouth Idli, we tried a very different variation known as the GREEN IDLI. Fried in desi ghee and doused in a spicy mix of spinach. It's full of flavour and quite wholesome.
The most interesting part of this trip was the variety of DOSA. Even though most of the Dosas had a potato filling in them and were served with same condiments, they all had quite a distinct flavour. We tried the Benne Dosa which is made in A LOT of Butter. It's super crisp and heavenly to taste. We then went for the Benne KALI DOSA, which was slightly softer but equally Buttery. Then the Kali Dosa, which is an open Dosa topped with a finely mashed potato masala, chutney and lots and lots of ghee. Finally, we ate the BHAAT MASALA DOSA which is topped with spiced rice, potato masala, chutney and again Ghee. The variety of Dosa to try in Bangalore is insane and each one of them is as good as the previous one.
The Breakfast Food Tour came to an end on sweet note at HOLIGE MANE, where we tried the traditional Mane and Badam mane as well. It is white flour dough balls stuffed with a variety of fillings, cooked in hot oil and topped with ghee. This sweet dish was totally worth it. Try all these amazing meals in Bangalore!

VV Puram Night STREET Food Tour | Bangalore Food Tour

Nothing excites us foodies more, than a street full of all kinds of food. We found ourselves in V V Puram in Bangalore, where there was food being served everywhere you looked. This particular street is known for serving dishes from all over India, but we went for the authentic south Indian delicacies that are just too good to resist.
Our journey began with some very unique chaat. Bread Chaat and Tomato slice Chaat were the two things we tried and although they were simply prepared dishes, the flavours were refreshing. At V B Bakery we tried the Congress Bun and Dumroat- a halwa made with pumpkin.
The atmosphere in VV Puram is electric. Anyone who comes to this place is bound to enjoy it. People come here with their families or for a night out with friends and everybody is there for the food. We went in to Avarekai Vada which is made with a few spices, onions and dill leaves. Along with learning about avarekai, we were enlightened with deliciousness of Ragi and Akki Rotti.
When it comes to snacks, South India has that sorted. They use dosa batter with some onions and tadka to make paddu or Gunta Ponganalu, which are steamed and served with sambar and chutney. These light and fluffy rice balls are the perfect snack. We couldn't have ended our tour without a rice dish, so we tried the iconic lemon rice or Chitranna which is bursting with flavours.
Our tour ended with a very distinct dessert which is fruits along with ice cream, homemade butter and gulkand. The flavour combinations might seem weird but one you take a bite, it is spot on! Visiting food streets like VV Puram is an experience in itself. We hope the next you are in Bangalore, reserve at least one whole evening for this food haven.

In one day, we had 7 delicious street foods all made in the PUNJAB style. I didn’t realize until after we finished eating, but we didn’t eat any meat or chicken at all! It was true vegetarian HEAVEN!
We started out the day with an AMAZING Indian breakfast in two different Indian street food restaurants. The first was the famous Amritsar Kulcha. I’m pretty sure you can get this dish in Delhi, but here in Amritsar is the origin of this stuffed baked bread from HEAVEN. It’s stuffed with a spiced potato mix and onions. It’s sprinkled with a masala spice and then put DEEP into the Tandoori oven and baked. It’s served to you on a plate with Chole chickpea curry and onion chutney.
The next AMAZING Breakfast we had on our street food tour was the Poori and Chole with Potato sabzi. A little similar with the chole, but the potato sabzi was nice and sweet and tangy and very UNIQUE!
Afterwards, we took our TUK TUK around town for some more amazing street foods. We enjoyed a street corner tofu curry served with a pancake and then we went to have a sweet and sour buttermilk lassi.
After this, we went to the LEGENDARY Kesar De Dhaba all vegetarian curry restaurant that uses PURE desi ghee. It was extremely flavourful and just a little spicy. We ordered the VEG thali and it was incredible! The paratha bread was so fluffy and covered in pure desi ghee, absolute HEAVEN! We also ate some dessert, a fruit kulfi ice cream!
After this we went for a couple more street foods in Amritsar. We were exploring the back lanes and found an amazing mango fruit stall! It was dried and covered in a slightly spicy and sour and tangy sauce. There were a lot of flavours in this Indian recipe. It was spicy, sour, tangy, sweet, peppery, acidic, pungent, and made your mouth pucker when you ate it! Very UNIQUE!
After this, we went for our final street food, an ICONIC street food in India, the samosa. It was stuffed with potato, cumin seeds, and spices.
The addresses for these street food restaurants in Amritsar, India, are listed below:
1) Breakfast Street Food Kulcha at Monu Kulcha Hut
Gali No, 10, Loharka Road, Ranjit Vihar, N.R.I. Colony, NRI Colony, Gumtala, Amritsar, Punjab 143001, India
2) Amazing Poori and Chole and desserts at Kanha Sweets
Shop 1, Opposite Bijli Pehalwan Mandir, Lawrence Road, White Avenue, Amritsar
3) Fairly OK veg curry DEEP in the back lanes of Amritsar (honestly can’t remember this address, go for the Kesar De Dhaba instead).
4) Delicious Street Lassi at Ahuja Lassi
Near Hindu College, Amritsar, India
5) BEST Vegetarian Curry in the WORLD @ Kesar De Dhaba, Amritsar
6) Amazing Mango sour and spicy dessert at Aam Papad:
Ram lubhaya and sons
7) Potato Samosa at Raam samosey wala

MANGALORE Food Tour | Part - 1/2 I Karnataka Food Tour I India Food Tour
Mangalore, officially known as Mangaluru, is the second major city in Karnataka in all aspects after Bangalore. Also known as the Gateway of Karnataka, it is one the most multicultural non-metro cities of India. It is also the largest city in the Coastal and Malnad regions of Karnataka.
We started our Mangalore food journey with Karishma, an engineer by profession and a food blogger by passion by visiting the Bunder.
The food journey started with the traditional breakfast of Bangalore at 96 years old New Taj Mahal Café. We tried some of the classic dishes like – Kottige, Rice Pundi, Sanjeera and Biscuit rotti.
The second stop Ayodhya hotel was the true highlight of Mangalore food tour. This no frills restaurant has the best local and authentic Mangalorian food. They serve seasonal and vegetarian food. We tried almost 20 odd dishes at the hotel.

GLORIOUS Southern INDIAN Breakfast at Vidyarthi Bhavan + Flower Market Tour | Bengaluru, India
Of all the places I’ve visited in the last decade or so, India is one of the most incredible. It’s difficult to find words that truly express just how much I love this country, its people, and its food. This place is absolutely magical, and I urge everyone to come here at least once in their lifetime. This video is from my second trip to India in November of 2018, which I got to experience with my buddy Sam from Sam & Audrey.

After whirlwind stops in the cities of Pune, Hyderabad, and Amritsar, our adventures through India continued in Bengaluru, formerly known as Bangalore! After landing in the city well after midnight and only nabbing a few hours of sleep, Sam and I were back at it with a magnificent southern Indian breakfast at a 75-year-old local restaurant and a tour of a local flower market with our new friend Anashwara! Come along with us as we begin our exploration of Bengaluru!
My Film Making Kit ►
We began our day by meeting up with Anashwara and heading over to Vidyarthi Bhavan, an amazing restaurant that has been in business since 1943. We had a one-hour wait until we could get inside, so Anashwara gave us a quick tour of a colorful local market that puts out fresh flowers, fruits, and vegetables early in the morning and is particularly active during the festive season.
As we explored the market, Anashwara explained that a lot of the flowers come from the outskirts of Bengaluru and that many people here use flowers for worship. She also told me about a custom where white, red, and green garlands of flowers are put around one another during marriages. I watched a woman making one of these garlands and estimated that it must take her about an hour to complete one.
After 40 minutes of exploring the market, we returned to the restaurant and we went inside, hungry after our trip around the market. The waiters here carry huge stacks of plated dosas, balanced on their arm, around the restaurant and pass them out. It’s amazing to see!
We ordered some large puris, a potato curry, idli, vada, and more. I couldn’t wait to dig in! The puri with the potato curry was amazing with the spices and peppers and wasn’t spicy at all. Next, I tried the coconut chutney, which I loved because it was spicy and gave a nice contrast to the rather bland flavor of the puri, followed by the idli with some sambar and coconut chutney. It was an incredible flavor combination, with the light, tomato flavor from the sambar and the spice and sweetness from the coconut chutney!
Up next, I tried the vada, which was soaking in a plate of sambar. I dipped it in a bit more and wow! The vada soaked up the sambar like a sponge! It was like a tomato doughnut. Then I tried the vada with the coconut chutney and reached new levels of flavor heaven! It was unreal! Next, we went with two dishes I hadn’t had yet, kara bath, a savory and spicy rava (or semolina) dish, and kesari bath, which is a sweet rava dish. The kara bath was almost like a polenta, and the kesari bath was super sweet. The two are eaten together to balance each other out.
Finally, I tried the main star of the breakfast: the dosa! It was thick and covered in ghee, a clarified butter used in Indian cuisine. Inside was a traditional potato filling. The combination of the dosa, ghee, coconut chutney, and sambar was a massive flavor and texture explosion in my mouth! It was flaky and crispy on the outside and soft and spongy on the inside. This was one of my favorite dosas I’ve ever had!
Next we tried a filtered Karnataka coffee that becomes frothy when you pour it back and forth from your cup to the little bowl that comes with it. It was fantastic and reminded me of a Cuban coffee called Cortadito.
When you come to Bengaluru, you have to check out Vidyarthi Bhavani! The food here is out of this world. Just get here early! It opens at 6:30 a.m.
I hope you enjoyed joining us for one of my favorite Indian breakfasts ever and our flower market tour! If you did, please give this video a thumbs up and leave me a comment below! And please subscribe to my channel to get all the new videos when they drop!

There's such a joy in getting out of your comfort zone and growing as human being by traveling to new places and eating delicious food you've never tasted before.
I'm currently based in Bangalore because India is my favourite country in the world. Travel in India is kind of my thing but I've been al over the world. Just check these playlists to begin your journey with me:
FAQ's:
Q Where are you from?
A I am born in former Yugoslavia. Mom is Serbian, Dad is Bosnian. During the '90's war we came to the Netherlands and I got Dutch nationality. I've lived in Amsterdam for 8 years but lost my heart to India. Since 2018 I'm based in Bangalore. See this video for my refugee story:
Q How can you afford to travel so much?
A I saved for 3 years while working full time and now travel vlogging is my job. I work together with tourism agencies but also do some freelance work on the side. You can watch this video: and this one: to learn more about my story.
Q What camera do you film with and what editing software do you use?
A Canon G7X Mark II and Final Cut Pro X
Q (Why) Are you vegetarian?
A I'm vegetarian but not strict. I don't eat any meat, fish, cooked/boiled or fried eggs. I gradually became a vegetarian over the course of 15 years because I disliked the taste of meat more and more. After doing a yoga teacher training in 2015 I also quit fish and the eggs. No matter my food preferences I have no issues with other people not being vegetarian. I don't judge others and kind of expect the same favor from others concerning my own food preferences. It makes for a more friendly world :-)
Q Why do you usually travel alone?
A Because my friends have jobs with limited holidays, kids and partners. Also I really like exploring on my own.
Q Why do you love India so much?
A Watch this video: and this one:
