BUCHAREST, ROMANIA - Bucharest is the largest city in Romania, a vibrant capital, full of old and new, and an abundance of markets, and everything from street food to high end restaurants. In this ultimate Romanian food tour of Bucharest, we ate a variety of amazing food, and I’m going to share it all with you in this video! #Romania #RomanianFood #Bucharest
Huge thank you to Nassim ( and Cristian ( for setting up this incredible trip.
Obor Market - To start off this day of eating, we headed to the biggest fruit and vegetable market in Bucharest, Obor Market. After walking around the amazing fruit selection, and vegetables, we had a quick cup of freshly squeezed grape juice.
Terasa Obor Mici - Located at the market is one of the best Romanians street food stalls in the city, Terasa Obor Mici. There’s nothing like a few mici in the morning with some beer. The owner here is also incredibly friendly, and they serve probably the best mici in Romania.
Argentine Steak & Sushi - Next up on this food tour of Bucharest, we had a lunch cooked by Chef Catalin Petrescu ( who uses Romanian ingredients to make Japanese food - and it’s amazing food. Cristian also supplies microgreens for this restaurant ( It was an outstanding meal.
Parliament of Romania - The most important and iconic landmark in Bucharest is the Parliament of Romania, the second largest administrative building in the world. We took a quick tour of some of the most decorated and beautiful rooms.
Origo Coffee Shop If you love good coffee, when you’re in Bucharest, Romania, this is the place to go.
Dristor Kebap - This chain of Romanian style shawarma is a must try when you’re in Bucharest. I loved the unique selection of vegetables, and especially the stir mix of all the ingredients, which I haven’t seen in other countries.
Caru' cu bere - Finally, to complete this incredible day of Romanian food in Bucharest, we went to Caru' cu bere, a historical Romanian restaurant, full of cultures, and meaty Romanian food. Every night is a party at Caru' cu bere!

Our Favorite Romanian Food in Bucharest Romania
Heading back to Bucharest from Brasov, Romania allowed us to eat all of our favorite Romanian dishes one last time before leaving the country. With this in mind, we headed over to La Plăcinte restaurant to order a complete meal. With a huge menu featuring a selection of Moldavian pies, soups, salads, grilled meats and desserts narrowing down what we wanted to have for the last time was a daunting task. We ended up ordering as follows:

Our Favorite Romanian Food in Bucharest, Romania Travel Video Transcript:
We're coming to the end of our time in Romania and we thought we'd take you out one last time to show you some traditional Romanian cuisine. It's definitely been a highlight of our trip. We've absolutely loved eating Romanian food, so we can't wait to show you a few new things.
So I'm very excited because our food has finally arrived and first up I'm going to show you this Moldavian pancake. So it is basically a dough pancake and it is filled with sheep's cheese and cow's cheese but our server also asked if we wanted bacon inside, so we said 'yes, of course.' So let's dig in. I'm going to cut it up and show you what it looks like.
On this inside. Oh, yeah. You can see all of the cheese seeping out. Mmmm.
Yeah, we've had this a few times and they're really generous with the cheese. Oh yeah. And you can order all different kinds of cheese. They have cottage cheese, you can get mozzarella cheese, whatever you like. Oh, so check it out from this angle. Can you see the bacon in there? Oh, yeah. Oh yeah, baby. Oh, yeah.
Let's try it. I'm just eating it like a pizza. I don't know if is right.
Oh, that's still hot. Mmmm.
That's really good guys. Really good. A little greasy. My fingers are looking oily. But those flavors, the salty cheese and then you've got the bacon. It's real good. It's a nice little appetizer here. I like that you can have it as an appetizer or you could also have it as a main. Like if you were to eat that whole thing it's filling.
And we forgot to mention this can also be served as a dessert. That's right. You can get sweet ones as well. Yeah, sweet cheese and raisins and cranberries. We haven't tried one of those yet but. Maybe we should. Hahaha.
Okay, look over here because this is a pretty cool dish. Polenta balls. And I find it really interesting because I've had polenta before in places like Argentina and Italy but I've never seen the polenta rolled out into a little ball like they do here in Romania.
And if I cut it in half you can see that it is stuffed with cheese. Oh, yeah. Just look at that. Oh, yeah.
And here it comes with a garlic sauce with dill and also sour cream. So let's add a bit of sour cream. Dunk that in the garlic. Look at that. Oh, wow.
Mmmm. That's real good. That is so garlic-y. I'm going to have really bad breath after this but it is so good. It is worth it.
This is really good. This sort of reminds me a little bit of a lasagna. Mmmmm.
And of course we could not resist getting some dessert. So we are having something called Tort a Lunel. And I'm probably butchering the name but that is how I think it is pronounced. And it is basically a dense chocolate cake with Halva, walnuts and peanuts. Oh, my!
Alright, time for me to try this. Wow! That is some kind of decadent. I don't even know how we're going to finish this. The two of us with one piece of cake.
I find when I'm having Romanian food I am so stuffed by the end of the meal. Siesta time after this for sure..
Time for price point. It was 95 Lei which if we do the conversion according to Sam is very cheap. Right, Sam? Yeah, it is just over 20 US dollars and we ended up getting 3 drinks, 3 mains and a dessert. Not bad.
This is part of our Travel in Romania series showcasing Romanian culture, Romanian arts, Romanian foods & Romanian cuisine

Street Food in Romania for Breakfast!! $1.15 ROMANIAN MICI KEBABS!!
????Romanian medieval BBQ:
????T-shirts and caps:
SIBIU, ROMANIA - Sibiu is known as a gastronomy capital of Romania, and so I was excited to explore this historical city in Transylvania, and mainly to eat some street food and at a traditional Romanian restaurant. #Romania #mici #Sibiu
Huge thank you to Nassim ( and Cristian ( for setting up this incredible trip.
Geo Sib - Easily the most widely available and loved Romanian street food is Mititei / Mici, unique little balls of meat, mixed with spices and grilled over charcoal. This is the place to eat mici in Sibiu, in the morning on the outskirts of the market. Their mici was made from minced veal, lots of salt, and light seasoning. They were so incredibly good, and so incredibly bouncy. Price - 30 RON ($6.92) for 6, so each mici costs $1.15.
Next we continued walking around and exploring the historical center of Sibiu, drinking some coffee, and climbing up the watch tower for a view of the city. Also a highlight for me was stumbling into a small farmers market at the church and meeting an amazing grandmother famous for her pickles. All her different pickles were fantastic.
Jules Bistro - Next they had arranged for us to have a quick meal at Jules Bistro, a modern take on Romanian food. It was pretty good, and the setting was beautiful.
Crama Sibiul Vechi - But I was most interested in a traditional Romanian Transylvanian meal at Crama Sibiul Vechi, one of the best restaurants in Sibiu. The food was fantastic, and I loved the setting in an old basement with friendly staff. Total price - 109 RON ($25.15)
That completes this Romanian food tour of Sibiu - much more food to come!

Hotel Alpin - Poiana, Brasov - From the center of Brasov, we drove about 20 minutes up the mountain and checked in to Hotel Alpin a classic ski resort hotel.
Stana Turistica Sergiana - Dinner was one of the highlights of this entire experience for me, a traditional countryside Romanian restaurant. The different stews, including deer, rooster, and beef cheeks were outstanding. Highly recommended restaurant when you’re in Brasov, Romania.
Cabana Postăvaru - Ski Lodge, Restaurant - In the morning, after riding an e-bike up the side of a ski slope, we had a huge Romanian mountain breakfast.
A fantastic food adventure in Romania, and thank you again to Cristian Macedonschi ( for hosting us and making it happen.

This was the ultimate Romanian medieval BBQ meat feast. Huge thank you to Nassim ( and Cristian ( for setting up this incredible trip. #Romania #RomaniaFood #bbq
Meat Paradise in Romania at Ferma Dacilor ( - During my trip to Romania, we went to a place called Ferma Dacilor, one of the most unique and special meals and food experiences of my trip to Romania. The entire concept is straight farm to table, where nearly everything they serve, from the meat to the vegetables and seasoning, are grown, produced, and aged, on location at the farm.
Medieval BBQ Cooking - Not only is the food fresh and local, but they strive to cook things in the ancient way, they way their ancestors cooked - over fire, rustic, iron, and huge portions of Romanian food.
Along with the 110 KG pig they roasted whole, one of the highlights for me was trying Mangalica pig, a type of hairy pig that almost looks like a sheep. The fat is said to be quite healthy, with little to no cholesterol. The meat was fatty and delicious.
Huge thank you to Cornelo and his entire family for hosting us and for making our time at Ferma Dacilor so memorable. One of the best Romanian food experiences!
