Our Favorite Argentinian Food in Buenos Aires at Parrilla Peña Steakhouse Travel Video Transcript:
So I know we always say we're excited about this meal but today it is extra special because we're bringing you to our favorite restaurant in all of Buenos Aires. This is a steakhouse. It is a Parrilla. That means they cook all of their meat on the grill. And it is seriously the best meat we've tried in the city. And we've ordered our favorite cut - Bife de Lomo. It is going to be amazing. We're waiting for that to show up.
So it wouldn't be a proper meal without a little bit of Vino Tinto. Yes, this is the house wine and it is actually very good for house wine. So anyways, what makes this our favorite restaurant in Buenos Aires. Well, you know traditional Argentine food is steak. And it is called Parrilla or Asado.
And this is the reason we came here. The star of the meal has arrived. The star of the meal. Bife de lomo. Look at this piece of beauty on my fork.
That is some of the most tender meat I've ever had in my entire life. You bite into it and it just disintegrates, it just melts right into your mouth. And it is so juicy and flavorful. It is just fantastic. This is the tenderloin in English. It is the best. And you know what makes this restaurant awesome. You know how you can tell you're in a really good steakhouse. They don't ask you how you want your steak. They don't say do you want it rare, do you want it medium rare, do you want it well done? No, they just make it the house way and they know what they're doing. So you get the best most optimal steak possible.
So it is now my turn. And I like to put Chimichurri on my steak.
Okay, so Sam what do you think sets Argentinian steak apart from steak in any other country. Well, Argentine steak has a reputation for being world class. It is considered one of the best steaks in the world and you know what I totally agree with that. What really sets it apart is they don't try to mask the steak with tonnes of barbecue sauce. Like if you look down here you can see. I don't know if you can see this but there is just a little bit of salt on top. What the real focus is is on grilling. Grilling it to perfection. Using the right temperature, cooking it for the right amount of time so it is a little bit crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. They have just got that down to perfection. Argentine steak is just world class. There is no other way to describe it. Yeah, take that Brazil.
Okay, so we've been stuffing ourselves for close to an hour. It is time to go home. So let's do price point. Okay, so in terms of price point we're going to focus on which is basically the nicest cut of meat in the house. That entire cut of meat was 270 Pesos which was about $18 US dollars. And that was for both of us. So when you think about that kind of value you're getting $9 per person and you're eating like some of the best steak of your entire life. So incredible value and again this is just the kind of place. Like I can't recommend it enough. I would call it a neighborhood parrilla. A neighborhood steakhouse. It is the kind of place that you go into and you see mostly locals are eating at. And when you see locals eating at a restaurant like this you know it is high quality because they are going to demand it. They're not going to come back if the food is not good. You can rip off a tourist but you're not going to rip off a local. And that is all I've got to say. Come here. Goodbye.

Chorizo Hot Dogs, Pizza, & Fernet - Drunk Eats Buenos Aires
Allie Lazar hits the streets of Buenos Aires to sample some of the best late night food the city has to offer. Nights in Buenos Aires run long and late, as dinner isn’t usually served until 9pm, and the cuisine is heavily influenced by Italy and Spain. Aperitivo is essential: usually a vermouth- or fernet-based drink and a picada, the Argentine version of tapas or finger food, which is often a big board of various meats and cheeses. Allie starts her night off with a homemade Italian-Porteña meal, followed by a happy hour with various cocktails and a pizza to go. She ends her night with a typical Argentine street food: choripán, a chorizo hot dog.

Authentic Peruvian Food in Buenos Aires, Argentina Travel Video Transcript:
#eatArgentina
So we've been eating like an enormous amount of meat here in Argentina. Yes, so we're mixing things up today and having one of our favorite cuisines.
We are having Peruvian food.
So yeah, we're taking a break from steak because it is just too much. It is too heavy and we're having trouble digesting it. So yeah, we've found a Peruvian restaurant. It is called Chan Chan. And they have lots of different types of Ceviche.
Alright, so we can't come to a Peruvian restaurant without getting a little portion of Canchita. And these are like giant corn kernels.
They're nice and crunchy. I always forget if they are like fried or baked. But yeah, they've been cooked. Lots of salt sprinkled on top. And they go really well with the ceviche and the tiger's milk.
Okay, so we got three different types of ceviche and if you have a look over here I believe this is just the classic one with just fish. This one is mixed - so it is fish and different types of seafood with a rocoto sauce and this is the mixed ceviche which has like shrimp and octopus and just different types of seafood.
And this over here in the middle is Tiger's milk which is basically kind of like lemon juice and fish juice and you know all of that stuff that gets mixed together at the bottom of the bowl. And that is called leche de tigre. Yes, leche de tigre and over here we get another plate.
This Papa a la Huancaína. So it is boiled potatoes with a creamy yellow sauce that is called Huancaína and you get a boiled egg and a black olive. So now it is time to see if we can put a dent in this.
And before I tuck into the food I've got myself a massive Pisco Sour. Normally when you order a pisco sour it is about half this size. Yeah. This thing is gigantic. And look at how much of the frothy egg white there is here. We've got the lemon juice and pisco brandy and then you have the bitter on top. Wow. Someone is going to be a little buzzed after this meal with all of that alcohol. Oh yeah, that is authentic. That is made with distilled grapes. Yeah, it is a grape brandy.
I was actually kind of worried about finding ceviche in Buenos Aires since they just tend to specialize in meat. And last time we ordered fish at a different restaurant it wasn't very good. But I mean this I feel like I'm eating in Peru. They've got the recipe right. They know how to make a good ceviche. Look at this.
So Sam is going to start with cebiche mixto. Yes, so this is assorted kind of seafood here. As you can see I'm grabbing like a really big piece of shrimp here. I've got some onions and lots of sauce as well.
So this over here is called tiradito de pescado and we've never had this.
Alright, this is one of my favorite parts. It is the Tiger's Milk.
Next up we have some Papa a la Huancaína.
And this is something we had a lot with your Aunt. A classic staple of Peruvian cuisine. And it is always served with a hard boiled egg and an olive.
Well the special sauce, the sauce is called Huancaína but again I don't know how it is made because my relatives they kind of buy the little packs and then you just mix it so I've never seen the sauce made from scratch. I don't know what ingredients go into it.
It is very creamy. It is a mystery. Again if we have any Peruvian people watching let us know how is Huancaína sauce made because I have no idea.
Well, that is a wrap so how does Peruvian food rank in Argentina?
It ranks very well. It is very authentic. It is so nice being able to have Peruvian cuisine in Buenos Aires. It is just such a nice treat. It is one of our favorite cuisines in all of South America.
And what about the price? So in terms of price it came to 430 Pesos and that included both of our drinks.
This is part of our Travel in Argentina series showcasing Argentine culture, rgentine foods and Argentine cuisine.

We try to include our tips for having a great, cheap and fun backpacking adventure in South America as we go. Our Spanish is (very) slowly getting better!
Who are we?
We are Tom and Yenny, two New Zealand young professionals who have quit our job and are learning Spanish as we travel through South America! We always like to travel on a budget so please subscribe to see all the places we go and all of our stingy ways of going there!
We love cooking, checking out new places, trying new types of food, beer and wine, camping, and anything else that we haven't tried (outrageous weird foods included!).
Where are we going?
We're travelling throughout every South American country that speaks Spanish and (if we have money left!) heading up to Central America too!
We would LOVE to hear from you about your experiences in South America, your travel experiences or any other tips or thoughts! Please make sure to comment if you've got anything you think we should do while we're here.
