About Sonny Side:
I’m not sponsored. I’m not rich. I’m just some guy who wanted to make the type of travel videos that I would want to see. This show is completely self-funded so thanks for patiently watching that five second advertisement (and read below how you can support this channel).
I am a video director by trade. Each time I travel to a new country I bring a cameraman with me, usually a friend, to shoot as many episodes as possible in a short amount of time (usually a week). The rest of the time I’m working as a video director/videographer in Vietnam and editing the crap out of these videos.
Much love and remember, Don't Think, Just Chew.

This was SO MUCH FUN! And SO MUCH good food! Hoi An is one of the best towns in Vietnam to get fresh, delicious Vietnamese food. Here's what we ate:
-Com Ga at Long Chicken Rice. Com Ga is a simple, hearty Viet dish with the rice cooked in chicken stock, served with all parts of chicken meat. Top it with some veggies, egg, and you got yourself a great lunch!
-Banh Vac at Miss Ly Cafe. Banh Vac are white rose dumplings with shrimp meat and an airy rice dough folded to resemble a flower. Such a great, light snack!
-Mi Quang (my favorite) at Central Market. Mi Quang is a thick, rice noodle dish with a small amount of broth to give it that sunny, tasty hue!
-Cau Lau is the essence of Hoi An in a bowl! It's smoky noodles gives you that everlasting flavor - only Cau Lau in Hoi An is the best! We went to Bobo Cafe here but the original place is Thanh Cao Lầu.
-Banh Xoai or Mango Seed. This chewy, mochi snack is such a delight. Don't be fooled by its name...it's actually peanut with a sticky outer layer.
-Banh Beo! This water fern cake is a small steamed rice cake topped with dried shrimp, scallion oil, and mung beans. SO GOOD, omg! It's originally from Hue, very special to Central Vietnam.
Go on your own food adventure and eat your heart out in Hoi An, Vietnam!
If you've made it this far...give this video a big thumbs up. You're noodley goodness :)

- You cant go to Hoi An or Vietnam and not eat Banh Mi - it's ridiculously cheap and incredibly tasty.

Experiencing Local Life in Hoi An Vietnam
Second stop during our stay in Vietnam was to a charming lil city, Hoi An. Hoi An was a place we both really enjoyed and we stayed longer than most visitors to there to properly soak it all in.
During our time in Hoi An, we stayed at An Bang Stilt House. A traditional style building that's in a great location. It's a 5 min bicycle ride away from the beach and only a short drive away from Hoi An Old Town too. Plenty of Grab taxis to get us there. We had the most friendly and welcoming host ever (Kim) who made us feel right at home during our entire stay. We recommend ordering her home-cooked meals, they were so good!
An Bang Stilt House
Address: Group 4, Tan Thanh, Cam An ward, Hoi An, Quang Nam, Vietnam 563800
We also enjoyed a unique and special tour of Hoi An away from the tourist attractions and out into the more remote countryside of Hoi An.
Our tour of Hoi An, Vietnam was with XO Tours. This is a really cool tour company where all the tours are done on scooters and with friendly, knowledgeable, female riders (the company wanted to give females more job opportunities so created XO Tours) but the best thing is you get to immerse yourself in the local life of Hoi An and Vietnam.
We got to learn about the daily work lives of locals, try our hands at their craft and ended the tour with a invitation into a Vietnamese family home for an amazing home cooked meal. Definitely a great experience and one to try for yourselves if you're visiting Hoi An and looking for things to do.
We're here in Vietnam for a month, so expect plenty more food and travel videos to come. Stay tuned! ????

Hoi An Street Food Tour, Vietnam
I love pretty much everything about Vietnam, and the food is certainly at the top of the list. We started the day off by touring a local wet market in Hoi An, before sampling foods at local street vendors and shops. We were given an explanation of each food which provided an in depth look at vietnamese history, culture, and cuisine.. and how they are all linked together. Banh Mi, Pho, Com Ga, and Spring Rolls are all staples that most westerners know, but we had the opportunity to try many vietnamese foods that most tourists don't taste, and they were all delicious! I highly reccomend Original Taste of Hoi An as a must do tour if you are visiting central Vietnam. Food Trip Friday will resume back in the Philippines next week

The Best Vietnamese Food in Hoi An, Vietnam. HANDS DOWN
Vietnamese food in Central Vietnam is simply the best. Hoi An isn't known for it's culinary excellence compared to Da Nang or Hue, but there are a few amazing eateries and food you can try. This happened to be my favorite place because I've eaten here twice and each time within a six month period, it has been very consistent. The dishes I ate included shredded chicken rice, cao lau noodles, tiny clams called hen, banh vac, and banh dap.
Everything is such a speciality and localized to Hoi An. Great Meal.
I really recommend you visiting this place located at
05 Nguyen Hoang, which is that street that sells a bunch of lanterns on the other side of Hoi An across from the Japanese Bridge.

Top 7 Things to do in Hoi An, Vietnam
We shot this Top things to do in Hoi An, Vietnam video from what has become one of our favourite locations we've visited so far. Hoi An is simply an amazing must-visit city in Vietnam. We hope this video helps you get a glimpse into as much magic as we were able to capture during our 5 night stay in Hoi An, Vietnam.
If you're planning a trip to Vietnam, it should include a visit to Hoi An Ancient Town and you definitely need to stay from day until evening because everything changes at night. From the glowing silk lanterns to the row boats slowly drifting down the river. This little Hoi An old town is simply charming. Just be prepared for the big crowds to pack in during the evening and night time.
Remember to pick up your tickets from the ticket stations located around the Hoi An Ancient Town. Once you pay for this you can visit any 5 special attractions of your choice.
Some of the ticketed attractions we visited in Hoi An Old Town were:
1. Assembly Hall Of Fujian Chinese
Address: 46 Trần Phú, Cẩm Châu, Hội An, Quảng Nam, Vietnam
Hours: Monday - Sunday 7am–6pm
2. Japanese Covered Bridge
Address: Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai, Phường Minh An, Hội An, Quảng Nam 564010, Vietnam
3. Museum of Trade Ceramics Hoi An
80 Tran Phu St. | Minh An, Hoi An, Vietnam
Hours: Monday - Sunday 7am–6pm
You should also visit Hoi An Night Market in the Ancient Town. Cross the Hoi An bridge and you'll enter the night market. Much more enjoyable at night with all the boats running along and lanterns fully lit up. It is a very touristy area though so just be aware of the higher prices and crowds.
Chicken Rice Place (not sure if the Google marker/address is quite in the right place, but the shop name is Cơm Gà Hiền and the photos shown are correct in the map link!)
Cơm Gà Hiền
593 Hai Bà Trưng, Phường Minh An, Hội An, Quảng Nam 550000, Vietnam
If you're looking for a nice beach to relax in Hoi An has you covered.
There are 3 main beaches in Hoi An:
- An Bang Beach
- Tan Tanh Beach
- Cua Dai Beach
An Bang Beach will be the most busy so try Tan Tanh or Cua Dai if you're wanting more space to relax.
We also went to an ancient temple and UNESCO world heritage site called My Son Sanctuary to find out some of the amazing history of the Champa people who once lived in Vietnam. My Son Sanctuary is a must-visit when you're in Hoi An, Vietnam especially if you love history and ancient ruins.
The World Cultural Heritage My Son Sanctuary
Address: Duy Phú, Duy Xuyên District, Quang Nam Province, Vietnam
Hours: Monday - Sunday 6:30am–5:30pm

Food BINGE in Da Nang & Hoi An | VIETNAM PART 5/6
We only had one day in Da Nang, so we cut loose and went nonstop eating local favorites like bun cha ca, bun mam, and banh cuon. After that we continued the massacre in the ancient city of Hoi An, stuffing our gullets with nem nuong, mi cau lau, lotus tea, com ga, and many other street delicacies. At night we explore the lantern festival and various street foods all over Hoi An.
