Hi! We grew up on opposite ends of the United States in Texas and Ohio. Later in college, we met and got married in August of 2016. As poor newly weds and recent college grads, we moved to New York City to begin what we thought would be our long careers in finance. Only one year later, after accumulating over 2 million miles and points through travel hacking, we booked round-the-world business class tickets to over 40 countries for free. We quit our jobs, sold everything we owned, and began this once-in-a-lifetime adventure on August 27, 2018. Chad has always loved creating home videos to hold onto the memories we share while traveling, so we started this YouTube channel as a place to share our adventures with friends and family. We hope you'll join our journey to exciting countries and experiences around the world!

Nadi, Fiji | What downtown looks like!
A little taste of the side of the city that the locals get to see. This is the downtown where the hustle and bustle of the locals take over. A different side from the resorts and such. See more of Fiji on GetSidetracked by putting a hashtag in front of them.

Westin Resort & Spa, Fiji. Best Hotel Breakfast In The World!
A quick look at the 5 star Westin Hotel in Fiji. I was upgraded at check-in to an Ocean Front suite (from a Garden suite). The breakfast here was the best I've ever experience in any hotel, anywhere. Seriously!
A Tourist's Guide to Nadi, Fiji
We fly into Nadi (pronounced Nandi) so sample a little bit of Fiji. Even through we stay in Denarau, we still manage to get to see the town, where we sample some kava and see the sights.

Hanging Out at Oasis Palms in Wailoaloa, Nadi, Fiji
On our way to our house and dog sitting assignment in Fiji, we have arrived a couple of days early to relax near a pool and eat sushi. There is a strip of fun and inexpensive hotels all along this part of the beach in Nadi. We have stayed several times.
jewel of fiji tour
I paid aud $130 as a shore excursion on Carnival Spirit to go on this Jewel of Fiji day tour.
Here is info an a fijian travel site
Someone said there were 93 of us on this tour. Apparently it is the most people the village ever had to deal with in a single tour.
We were picked up from the pier in 2 buses and taken to the Navua river. On the way, each bus was asked to choose a Chief of the bus to represent all of us at the Kava ceremony. The bus chiefs had to drink the Kava. It was optional for the rest of the men.
At the Navua river, we were all assigned life vests and a place in a motorised long boat. They were very particular about everyone having a life vest and keeping it on at all times.
On the trip up river, we passed 8 waterfalls and some mini rapids to get to the Magic Waterfalls. There was a lagoon at the Magic Waterfalls where mostly every one went swimming. Not all at the same time. They had to manage our time. I was in a lead boat so I was getting on a boat to leave the Magic waterfalls while the last boat was arriving at the waterfall.
From the Magic Waterfalls, we were taken to a traditional Fijian village.
In case you are wondering about the comfort in the long boat. I weigh about 140kg. The trip was ok for me but I had to keep moving my legs around to stop them going to sleep.
There is no protection against sun or rain on the boat
I couldn't film the Kava ceremony as all men were required to take part lest we offend the village chief. I filmed some of the dancing afterward.
There was traditional Fijian food or western food available for lunch and it was an individual choice what to eat.
After lunch, the bus picked us up from the village and took us back to the pier.
