FOOTSCRAY MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA
( FOOTSCRAY) (FOOTSCRAY MELBOURNE) AUSTRALIA
(Footscray) is an inner-western suburb (neighbourhood) of Melbourne, Australia, 5 km from Melbourne's Central Business District. Its local government area is the City of (Maribyrnong). At the 2016 census, Footscray had a population of 16,345.[1]
Footscray is characterised by a very diverse, multicultural central shopping area, which reflects the successive waves of immigration experienced by Melbourne, and by Footscray in particular. Once a centre for Greek, Italian and former Yugoslavian migrants, it later became a hub for Vietnamese and East African immigrants in Melbourne. It has recently begun to undergo rapid development and gentrification. (REF wikipoeadia.com)

*This is not a diss at Melbourne Victory.
The Footscray Kid goes for Melbourne Victory in the A League,
he just believes the Maribyrnong Council and the Victorian Government can find an alternate site for this project,
such as the old Footscray Hospital site on Gordon St or a warehouse space in West Melbourne, West Footscray or Tottenham.
This will ensure a rare, valuable, heritage listed public space will not be compromised for future generations.

A melting pot of cultures from places as far-flung as Vietnam and Ethiopia, a place where you can scoop up a goat curry with fresh injera, slurp down pho and hunt out the best cannoli in town: it’s one of the world’s coolest neighbourhoods, and it’s right here in Melbourne.
----World food----
Once a centre for southern European migrants, these days Footscray is home to Chinese, Vietnamese, and increasingly, North African immigrants and their gastronomic traditions. Slurp a bowl of pho at a Vietnamese noodle house, get a masala dosa near Victoria University, tuck into traditional Ethiopian injera flat bread at Nicholson Street Mall.
Brunch crowd, make your way to Rudimentary, Small Graces and Footscray Milking Station. For one of Melbourne's best steaks, stop at the Station Hotel; for burgers and barbecue, 8bit and Up in Smoke. Follow up with a craft brew at Hop Nation or a tidy tipple at Back Alley Sally's, Mr West or Bar Josephine.
----Spice up your life----
Locate those exotic spices and ingredients at Footscray Market. Busy Little Saigon Market will satisfy your craving for tropical fruits and Vietnamese groceries.
Pay your respects to the Golden Heavenly Queen of Mazu at the Heavenly Queen Temple off Hopkins Street, the biggest Chinese temple in Australia.
----Arts attack----
Chances are you'll find yourself in Footscray on the trail of a highly anticipated arts event. The local arts scene is led by the dynamic Footscray Community Arts Centre, situated on the banks of the Maribyrnong River. The precinct features theatre performances, workshops, a bar, cafe and gallery spaces.
Further upriver, opposite Flemington Racecourse, Footscray Park is the newest venue for the annual St Jerome's Laneway Festival, boasting international music acts and local performers.
Other exciting and innovative arts organisations call Footscray home. Catch a performance by Footscray's experimental theatre company Snuff Puppets at the Footscray Drill Hall, and explore contemporary art at Trocadero Art Space.

Footscray Suburb Profile
Footscray Suburb Profile
CITY OF MARIBYRNONG SUBURB TV PROFILE
Welcome to the riverside area of the City of Maribyrnong, a location we believe is one of the best investment areas left in Melbourne.
The City of Maribyrnong has some of Melbourne's oldest suburbs including Footscray, Kingsville, West Footscray, Braybrook, Maribyrnong and the trendy suburbs of Seddon and Yarraville.
Major features of this area include the Maribyrnong River, Footscray Markets, Victoria University, Highpoint Shopping Centre, Whitten Oval, Medway Golf Club, Sun Theatre and Footscray and Pipemakers parks. It also neighbours the Flemington Racecourse and Melbourne Showgrounds.
As part of the Melbourne @ 5 million plan, the City of Maribyrnong will be significantly invested in by state and local governments over the next decade. Some of the infrastructure programs include the Maribyrnong Housing strategy and Footscray City Edge Master plan.
In terms of investing in property, the City of Maribyrnong really does offer a secure growth opportunity for the future.
SUBURB FOCUS - Footscray
Within the City of Maribyrnong and situated only 6 kilometres from Melbourne's CBD and Docklands precinct Footscray offers an affordable investment lifestyle.
There are just over 100 restaurants in Footscray as well as the Footscray Market. Education is also well established with local public and private primary and secondary schools as well as Victoria University's Footscray Park campus, which is located next to Footscray Park.
The suburb has grown at rate of just over 6% in the last 5 years due to new housing estates and residential apartment buildings. It will further transform over the next decade into a well-established inner-city suburb of Melbourne.
Footscray has an array of housing including newer apartments, townhouses and town homes along with the traditional homes, cottages and double fronted weatherboards.
Its emergence as an extension to inner Melbourne is challenging its traditional badge as the 'Heart of the West'.
Footscray is a Central Activities Area and serves a role to accommodate increased population. A structure plan is being prepared which will provide planning guidance for future development needs.
Footscray is a suburb on the rise and provides an excellent opportunity to invest in a profitable venture for the future.
Buses in Footscray Park - Melbourne Transport
In December 2013 construction of the Regional Rail Link was in full swing. The Sunbury line was shut down to enable work to place trains, with buses replacing trains between Footscray and Albion. A lot of express buses to Albion went to Flemington Racecourse, where they met diverted Sunbury line trains to enable a quick trip to the city.
In this video we see some of these rail replacement buses on Farnsworth Avenue in Footscray Park, not far from Flemington Racecourse. We see buses from Cranbourne Transit, Dysons (including its subsidiary Reservoir Bus Company), Kastoria & Tullamarine Bus Lines. Several Sita and Westrans (now CDC Melbourne) buses are also seen on route service.
Date: 30th December 2013.
