There are 31 Forest Adventure parks around Japan - it happens to be the case that the one in Chichibu is infamous for being the hardest of them all. We stronly recommend wearing clothes that you wouldn't mind getting dirty, or you can rent outdoor pants/jackets at the on-site rental shop.
CHICHIBU MUSE PARK LOOKOUT SPOT
After tiring yourself out at Forest Adventure, take a quick break at this scenic lookout spot. Once you are done, relive your childhood days by riding the giant roller-slide before you leave.
NOSAKA
This very famous shop specialises in miso pork rice bowl that is iconic to Chichibu. The restaurant is a must try. The best time to visit is on a weekday, and the shop closes as soon as ingredients run out, so be quick.
JURIN's GEO
This is for all the coffee lovers out there. It may be a surprise to some, but this hidden cafe only serves coffee from beans that have been awarded the prestigious Cup of Excellence award.

WOP Day #9 - Viridian Forest/Chichibu-Tama Park
After a long succession of trains we have made it within the Chichibu-Tama National Park. But it seems the weather atop Mt. Mitake might want to impede our progress. I don't remember Viridian Forest being troubled by rain!

This week, we go to Hachijo Island (Hachijojima), one of Tokyo's 11 islands, for a camping adventure. The camp site is completely free to use and there's even a bunch of cats waiting to be your friend, too!

自然共生型アウトドアパーク「フォレストアドベンチャー・フジ」Forest Adventure
今や日本各地にあるForest Adventureの日本第一号である「Forest Adventure Mt.FUJI」に行ってきました！
自然共生型アウトドアパークと言うだけあって、森林をそのまま活用した冒険の森です！
今回参加したキャノピーコースは、身長110cm以上であれば参加できます。

Chichibu, Japan's hidden treasure on Velvia slide film
Within a mere 90 minutes of Ikebukuro station in Tokyo, it is surprising that photographers' and hikers' paradise Chichibu isn't discovered by more tourists yet. The rural town of Chichibu is located on a plateau surrounded by mountains and the train ride quickly gets very interesting once you have left the urban jungle that is Tokyo. Chichibu used to be well known and rich because of the silk production but never really recovered from the crash in raw silk prices during the early Meiji period which led to the Chichibu rebellion. The surrounding mountains and the resulting isolation has resulted in the preservation of lots of traditional customs. Chichibu is best known for its important 34 Kannon Temple Pilgrimage and its many festivals. The town itself feels like it is still stuck in the Showa period with loads of tiny shops and restaurants with the large Chichibu Shrine in its centre. The bubble that turned so many of the large Japanese cities into a wasteland of tall buildings and glass never arrived and I, for one, am very grateful for that.

Saitama Seibu Lions Mascot's Kawagoe Adventures: Try Your Luck in Love at Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine!
Join Leo and Lina, the Saitama Seibu Lions mascots, as they visit Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine, a famous matchmaking spot with 1500 years of history. The shrine, which celebrates the spirits of happy married couples, has been visited faithfully by generations looking for luck in love.
In this video, Leo and Lina try their hands at ringing the shrine's matchmaking wind chimes and fishing for fortunes.
Many people who visit the shrine believe that a wish written on a small piece of paper hung from a matchmaking wind chime will come true when the chime rings clear and bright. Every year, a popular event featuring these photogenic wind chimes draws a large crowd of young people and couples.
Fishing for love fortunes is a fun way to predict your luck in love. Called ai-tai, a double pun on the Japanese words for love (ai), sea bream fish (tai), and wanting to meet (aitai), these unique fortunes will lead you to a great catch!
If you want to gradually close the distance between yourself and your love, pick up a red thread pencil. In Japanese culture, a red thread traditionally connects two people fated to fall in love. Every time you use a red thread pencil, the thread gets shorter and shorter, leading you ever closer to your beloved.
All these traditions and more can be found at Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine:

Bus: Board the Tobu bus headed for Ageo Station West Exit (Ageo Eki Nishi Guchi) for about 10 minutes and get off at the Miyashitamachi stop; the shrine will be very close to the bus stop.
