Panoramic Maps, also known as Bird's Eye View, aerial view, or perspective maps. These were a popular form of art at the turn of the 20th century depicting a city's key points of interest.
Unlike traditional maps, Panoramic maps often highlighted the commercial aspects of a town, while also clearly showing many local residences.
I've had a lot fun looking up places I've been to on these maps -- and I've gotta say - It's amazing just how much things change -- and also how much things stay the same.

Old Depot Museum and caboose, Ottawa, KS in 4K
The Old Depot Museum is located at 135 W. Tecumseh, Ottawa KS 66067. From I-35, take exit #187 onto K-68 highway and go three miles to the intersection with US-59 or Main Street in Ottawa. Turn left onto Main Street and immediately turn right onto Tecumseh. The Depot Museum is just ahead on the right side of the street. The entrance and parking lot are to the west of the museum.
The museum was a gift of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad to the Franklin County Historical Society in 1962. It was opened to the public on July 4, 1963. The Society received a federal ISTEA grant in 1996 to completely rehabilitate the structure, reroofing it and adding an elevator and heating and cooling. The reopening of the facility was on July 4, 1999.

Ol' Marais River Run - Back to the 60's Cruise Night in downtown Ottawa, KS
n 1986 the founding members of the Over the Road Gang, Inc. hosted the first Ol’ Marais Rod and Custom Show. There were approximately 150 participants at that first event. During the next 24 years the name of the event changed to the Ol’ Marais River Run and the attendance grew to 1,618 in 2010.
The Over the Road Gang, Inc. has throughout those years focused on presenting a family oriented event that could be enjoyed by both young and old.
Located in beautiful Forest Park in Ottawa, Kansas you will enjoy two days of fun and entertainment in one of the premiere outdoor facilities in eastern Kansas; it would seem this park with a strong shade tree population and ample grass parking was tailor made for this event.
Saturday is the show and shine portion followed by a 60’s profile cruise in the downtown business district, during the evening, allowing the throngs of spectators to actually see and hear the show vehicles in motion.
The Ol’ Marais River Run has become a very well- known event and is considered by most past attendees as a “must do” for their show season schedule.
