Form/Design Center i Malmö pekas av regeringen särskilt ut som mötesplats för arkitektur, form och design.
Regeringen avsätter i sin budget tre miljoner kronor årligen under 2018-2020.
I dag gästade kultur- och demokratiminister Alice Bah Kuhnke (MP) Form/Design Center. Hon pratade PM politiskt mod och om hur viktigt det är med konst och design då vi bygger nytt.

I samband med Form/Design Centers 50-årsjubileum 2014 fick Anna Österlund i uppdrag att göra ett annorlunda modeevent. Anna valde att inte använda vanliga modeller och ljudsatte arrangemanget med ett budskap om att våga bryta mot modets koder, leka och ha kul. Vi visar nu filmen från bakom kulisserna och modevisningen.

Anna Österlund är en hängiven kreatör inom mode, foto och film. Hon är utbildad till modedesigner vid Textilhögskolan i Borås och varvar arbetet med egna kollektioner med att fota, göra kortfilmer och skapa event. Hon har sedan examen 2006 drivit Ravishing Mad, ett Malmöbaserat modeföretag vars kollektioner sålts i butiker i 15 länder och visats på modeveckorna i Paris, New York och Berlin. För Anna är mode en lek och ett sätt för människor att uttrycka vilka de är… och ibland vem de vill att andra ska tro att de är. Hon kallar mode för ett maktspråk som vem som helst är välkommen att använda oavsett könstillhörighet, ursprung, storlek eller ålder.
”Det allra roligaste med mode är att när vi har lärt oss en himla massa om vad andra tycker och tänker och läser in i vår klädsel, så kan vi börja bryta mot sociala normer och börja leka. Klä er precis som ni vill och bry er inte om några Säsongens Modemåsten, eller vilken färg någon tidning säger åt er varje garderob absolut inte klarar sig utan. Det är bara en kommersiell sammansvärjning!”

What happens when we bring together designers with leading materials researchers and let them experiment together? The results will be presented at Dutch Design Week 2018.
SPOK, Art & Science Initiative & Form/Design Center wants to give designers in Skåne the chance to work with materials researchers to jointly experiment, explore and visually present the fantastic materials that are currently being developed. The results of these collaborative projects will then be presented in a joint exhibition within the framework of the EU-funded project Southern Sweden Creatives during Dutch Design Week 2018.
The project is called What Matter_s and the curator is Nina Warnolf.
Kunsik Choi is a Korean-born independent designer based in Malmö, mainly working in furniture and product design. His aim is to create contemporary design with an emotional aspect that can sympathize with the user, and trying to design with usability in mind. He considers the making process an important step in the design development, and tailors the details and shapes of every design to match its concept.
Prof. Rajni Hatti-Kaul works at the biotechnology department at Lund U. Her research deals with various aspects of green chemicals and materials. Specifically she is interested in biotechnology for production of platform and speciality chemicals and biomaterials, biotechnological conversion of renewable feedstocks into value added products, novel enzymes for application in oxidation reactions.

NIMBY är en utställning om delningsekonomi inom ramen för projektet Sharing Cities Sweden. Designers Andréason & Leibel har skapat koncept och utställningsdesign med illustrationer, animationer och objekt.
Loop City - last part
The industrial areas in the Copenhagen suburbs are next in line for urban development. A new light rail is planned to interconnect 20 development zones with a total area of 11 Km2, the size of the entire inner city.
We are proposing to turn the light rail line into a spine of dense urbanity with a series of peaks at the stations. By combing the rail with strategies for energy exchange, waste management, water treatment and electric car stations, the infrastructure could become the base for a new sustainable ring of development around Copenhagen, and an artery of true urbanity pumping life into the heart of the suburbs. At certain points the rail becomes a building itself almost like a Roman aqueduct passing through the suburbs, at other points it forms small pockets of urbanity around the stations.
We propose to upgrade the planned light rail by connecting it to a regional ring around Oresund connecting similar development areas, and creating a new 50 year development perspective for a cross border region between Sweden and Denmark. Where the Finger Plan from 1947 was about connectivity from suburb to center the Loop City is linking a string of highly differentiated urban nodes, universities and working spaces in a center-less metropolitan region around a blue void. This ring, comparable in size to the San Francisco Bay area, has enough development areas to contain the growth of the region the next 50 years, and could be a model for a both sustainable, dense and super recreational development of the region.

Är vi Malmöbor redo att ta en aktiv roll i att ta tillbaka vår stad? Är vi medborgare beredda att offra något, om än så lite, för att försöka föra samhället framåt? Eller har vi redan stagnerat och lämnat walk-over till rädsloskapande krafter? På ett personligt plan skiljer sig naturligtvis svaren, men kärnan är fast -- Malmö behöver fler riots.
Oroligheterna och skottlossningarna de senaste åren i Malmö är inte isolerade olyckliga incidenter. Sociala problem tornar kontinuerligt upp sig och påverkar hela strukturen och människorna i en stad som är unik för sin mångfald och öppenhet. Detta är ett faktum som inte kan tolereras i en levande och aktiv stad. Grundtanken är att ett samhälle som tagit sig tid att diskutera och reflektera över civilkurage mår bättre än ett samhälle som inte tar sig den tiden. Vi vill bjuda in till Debatt #MalmöRiots.
Under kvällen kommer Teater Foratt att framföra ett antal scenkonstinstallationer på och utanför teatern. Bandet Hanouneh och Rebellerna står för musiken, och utställningen MALMÖ KOM!
(ett samarbete med Drömmarnas Hus och Form/Design Center) kommer att finnas på plats i ny skepnad under Debatt #MalmöRiots.
