Haha I filmed this over a week ago, but finally got around to editing it! When I for got to Nagasaki prefecture, I was in awe of what I saw. It was like a dreamland for me and I couldn't understand why no one had told me how great it was before now!

Exploring NAGASAKI | Huis Ten Bosch (ハウステンボス)
I went to Nagasaki Prefecture in Japan for the first time and stayed at Huis Ten Bosch for 3 nights! It's a great theme park and I highly recommend visiting it at night. The food in and around the park was amazing too!

Rural Japanese Apartment Tour
This is my rural Japanese apartment tour in April 2019. My apartment is pretty spacious with 3 rooms, a kitchen, and a large bathroom. I'm living here as a part of the Jet Program. It's pretty cheap because it's in the countryside on an island in Nagasaki prefecture.

I'm logiebear. I was in the Jet Program, teaching English on an island in rural Japan from August 2018-2019. I'm now back in the San Francisco Bay Area. I love eating, traveling, and being creative.

2ND STREET JAPAN | REUSE SHOP | 2ND HAND STORE | Branded UKAY-UKAY
When Japan’s economy took a turn for the worse over a decade ago, recycle/second-hand shops started to gain popularity among a Japanese population who sought a shopping alternative that was easy on the wallet. 2nd Street Recycle Store is a clean, modern-looking second hand shop with a slightly more upscale selection of items ranging from furniture, electronics, household goods, musical instruments and equipment, sporting goods, clothing, and gently used shoes. The two-level shop has a well-organized layout that will allow you to quickly search for the types of items you want.
What will likely be a popular attraction to the store is the long row of women’s clothing for only 300 yen apiece. You will find a wide selection of men, women, and children’s clothing and shoes.
The prices may vary from a knockout bargain to a slightly less expensive price tag than your local department store. If you are a yard-saler or discount shopper, 2nd Street Recycle Store is a must-add to your evening or weekend agenda.

Commanding a stunning view of Nagasaki Harbour from its position on top of the hill of Minami-Yamate, this romantic area retains the atmosphere of a foreign settlement.
Glover Garden is an open air museum. It exhibits mansions of former Western residents of Nagasaki such as British merchants Frederick Ringer and William Alt and the former residence of Thomas Glover, a Scottish merchant. It is placed on the hill where Western merchants settled down after the end of Japan's era of seclusion (sakoku) in the second half of the 19th century.
The exhibited buildings A nice panorama of the city can be enjoyed from the garden.
Access Information:
Glover Garden is a five minute walk from Ouratenshudo-shita tram station on the line number 5 with a cost of 120 yen.The entrance is adjacent the Oura Catholic Church.

JET Programme ALT: A Day in the Suburbs of Japan
Come visit Ayashi, my home in Japan. Situated 25 min. by train west of Sendai Station, this neighbourhood has everything that I would want (supermarket, drug store, restaurants, bank, post office) and has easy access to great biking and hiking routes. The Ayashi JR Station is also where you come to take the bus to Akiu hot springs. I love this community and all that it has to offer and I’m excited to continue exploring and finding hidden gems.
Although this video highlights what I love about living in the suburbs, regardless of where you are placed in Japan, there’s always beauty around you. You just have to go out and find it.

Exploring Sasebo's 'Flower Mountain'

I tagged along as some of my ALT friends went to Nagushiyama Park. It's one of the places I've always wanted to visit in Sasebo, and it was truly a sight to behold, specially in Spring, when the mountain is covered in divine colors.
Plus: We dropped by the marker of the westernmost part of mainland Japan, and cap the day of with some delicious ramen.

JET Programme ALT Sexual Assault Case Reopened
The fact is that a man touched her after she said no. That's sexual harassment.

On December 5, 2018, the Nagasaki City Council reopened my sexual assault* case from March 2018. The Nagasaki BOE director was questioned and criticized for not firing the ALT assailant.
Throughout the meeting, the Nagasaki BOE director (the man in the black blazer) says,
“There was no obscene act. He [my assailant] is allowed to continue his contract because he has reflected on his actions. His attitude towards duty is also good. Furthermore, we believe that he does not negatively influence other ALT or students.”
