Life in Japan 2: Evening Stroll Through Niitsu Niigata April 5, 2017
Hello Everyone,
I just got off work and what better way to relax and unwind than going for a peaceful stroll. I walk around Niitsu in Niigata and see a lot more wildlife. I also head tow a shrine/temple thing in the middle of downtown. There are train murals and bakeries every apparently.
This is a Vlog/ on the Go segment, and I hope to have many more in the future. If you have any suggestions or questions, feel free to ask, and please don’t hesitate to like, comment, subscribe, or share the video if you enjoyed it and would like to see more.
Thanks for watching,

Murakami Castle, Niigata Japan, and the origin of Gaijin Smash.
In this video, Grin from Grinning Studios, takes a trip to Murakami Castle with Bryan Baier, of Traveling on a dime. Learn about this castle, and the layout, with a bit of humor included.
Coming down the mountain, Grin shows his awesome camera saving tumble skill, and only draws a minimal amount of blood.
Afterwards, The Gaijin Smash crew, Bryan, Grin and Anders, meet for the first time together, and the beginning of the Gaijin Smash podcast - and Saiaku No Bai (Worst Case Scenario) becomes a four man band, later playing many shows and entertaining hundreds of people with engaging performances and interesting if not simply brilliant songs, written by Anders Hagman.

Life in Japan 1: Wandering in Niigata
Hello Everyone,
Well I have up and done it. I moved to Japan. I have been here almost two weeks, but I have spent most of my time locked away in orientation with my company. Today is the first day I have had free and I decided I needed to go on a long leisurely stroll over to my neighboring town. I encounter lots of nature, water fowl, and some really nice locals. I also end up at on of the smallest and unsecured train stations I have encounters. There is also a small shrine in there.
This is a Vlog/ on the Go segment, and I hope to have many more in the future. If you have any suggestions or questions, feel free to ask, and please don’t hesitate to like, comment, subscribe, or share the video if you enjoyed it and would like to see more.
Thanks for watching,
Theresa

Moving Stills : Truck : Joetsu, Niigata 2016
When you spend time looking at a picture rather than glancing at it to extract the main features, your eye comes to rest in a peaceful place.
The Moving Stills series is an investigation into what happens when a scene is captured and presented with the technical quality of a monochrome silver print - however, the photograph is live with movement.
Something barely nothing, with your eye hunting to see if it's actually playing of frozen, then something small in the distance or a tiny butterfly, a flower moving in the breeze. Other times the movements are strong, with textured rain and vehicles large in the frame. This is an investigation into composition of a scene and of letting the scene unfold in natural motion.
Technical
Captured on our trip to Japan late 2016, with the new SONY RX100 mark V camera. I filmed on auto with default picture profile as it seemed to work best for recordings which I would turn into monochrome. Minimal grading and in some cases the recording was slowed down. Edited on a 2015 MacBook Pro (top spec) with a 6TB LaCie Thunderbolt HD attached.
