[034] kyoto kyoto station
Subscribe link :
The Kyoto Station (Kyōto-eki) building was completed on the 1200th anniversary of the capital's foundation in Kyoto. It was opened to the public in 1997 and stands completely contraty to many foreign tourists' typical image of Kyoto as the capital of traditional Japan.
The building's futuristic, maybe cold design and atmosphere was inspired by the famed Japanese architect Hara Hiroshi. He attempted to convey historical Kyoto through a modern aesthetic in his design. The station's large main hall with its exposed steel beamed roof, called the Matrix, is intended to reflect both the structure of the station and the grid like layout of Kyoto's street network. He also designed the Umeda Sky Building in Osaka.
Kyoto Station is the hub of the city's transportation, served by Japan Railways (including the Tokaido Shinkansen), Kintetsu Railways and the Karasuma Subway Line. It also serves as the site of a large bus terminal for city buses and long distance and overnight highway buses.
関宿のすべてを18分に凝縮!東海道53次(短縮版)The 53 Stations of the Tōkaidō
Shakespeare Stories Macbeth (music from Scot's Tune)
Derek Jacobi, Jane McCulloch
The 53 Stations of the Tōkaidō (東海道五十三次 Tōkaidō Gojūsan-tsugi?) are the rest areas along the Tōkaidō, which was a coastal route that ran from Nihonbashi in Edo (modern-day Tokyo) to Sanjō Ōhashi in Kyoto.[1]
There were originally 53 government post stations along the Tōkaidō, where travelers had to present traveling permits at each station if wanting to cross. All of the stations, in addition to the starting and ending locations (which are shared with the Nakasendō), are listed below in order. The stations are divided by their present-day prefecture and include the name of their present-day city/town/village/districts, with historic provinces listed below.

Eizan Railway Demachiyanagi Train Station, Kyoto City
Eizan Electric Railway, runs one man trolly type trains from Kyoto City (from Demachiyanagi) to two tourist locations in the suburbs of Kyoto City. They are Kurama Dera (Kurama Temple) and Yase Station (Yase station provides the Cable Car and Rope Way to Mt. Hiei or Hieizan). Both routes (specially the Kurama Temple route) are extremely scenic and captivating.
This video shows the Demachiyanagi Station inside the Kyoto City. Keihan Railways also has a station in Demachiyanagi, which provides service to Tofukuji, Fushimi Inari Shrine and Uji City.
If you have used Eizan railway in the past and enjoyed riding the little trolly to Kurama dera or Yase, please write me a comment..
Enjoy!!

Seki-juku.
I have a strong interest in history, especially Japanese history. So recently I had the opportunity to check-out this preserved street that was once used as a Post-Town many centuries ago. It took us the best part of two hours to walk the street.
