Two streets near Xu Zhimo's home in Haining - 2012
The great Chinese poet Xu Zhimo had a family home in Haining near Hanggzhou in south China. His house is a museum, but to get the feeling of his world in the early twentieth century, it is worth walking round a few of the old streets where some of the buildings must have existed in his day. Filmed on a visit to Haining by Alan Macfarlane in October 2012. Xu Zhimo's world there, with water and willows, helps to explain his emotion in his most famous poem, 'On Saying Goodbye to Cambridge', written when he was at King's College.

Commemoration of Poet Xu Zhimo's 120th Birthday
To mark the 120th anniversary of the birth of Xu Zhimo, one of the most renowned romantic poets of 20th-century Chinese literature, the Renwen Society at China Institute and the Confucius Institute at Pace University jointly commemorated the Chinese literary giant last Sunday in an event which included remarks by scholars, poetry reading and a music tribute.
Many of Xu Zhimo’s family members attended the event including Dr. Tony Hsu, Xu Zhimo’s grandson. Tony Hsu spent 5 years retracing his grandfather’s trail across the globe and visited places where his grandfather traveled to and collected memories of him from family members, famous writers, poets, and professors.
Using these memories, Tony wrote the first English biography of Xu Zhimo - Chasing the Modern. Through this experience, Tony not only got an in-depth understanding of his grandfather, but also a chronicle of Xu’s life up until 1931.

Haining Demo version 1
This is one of six songs I am currently working on that were sketched up and created in China. Clearly it's still a work in progress. Drums and chord textures as well as structure of the songs are going to be added and changed in the finished product.
The entire song is sample based. The sample source song is titled Celos De Mi Guitarra by Jose Luis Perales.
The woman in the back is my friend Lydia who models.
