Adventurous Experience of Asherigad. Asheri Fort is located 102km from Mumbai and 88 km from Thane. It is in Palghar district, of Maharashtra. This fort is an important fort in Palghar district. The fort is located on the hills near Mendhavan Khind on Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway. The base village Khodkona is a very small tribal village. The Fort restoration is done by the local villagers.

Unexplored risky patch of Mahuli Fort, Thane

Mahuli fort trek is one of the medium level trek near mumbai (within 75 km).This Fort is being made by Shahji Raje,Father of Shri Shivaji Maharaj (2800 ft above sea level) .Nearest railway station: Aasangaon.
From Aasangaon, you will get auto till Mahuli base village and they take per auto around 250rs one side. There are some small local food options at the base. You need to carry ample amount of water from base only. It will take minimum 2 and half hrs for ascending.

KOHOJ FORT - MAN SHAPED PINNACLE | Palghar | Manor-Wada | Thane

Kohoj Fort in Palghar region on right side of Manor-Wada Highway Road..Base Village Waghote is situated near Shelte Lake.
KOHOJ FORT is famous for Man shaped pinnacle..
As per the wikipidia The fort is said to be about 800 years old and finds a mention in the Purandar treaty along with 22 other forts which were surrendered by Shivaji Maharaj to the Mughals on 11 June 1665. It was also an important fort for keeping a look on the nearby coast and thus to keep the territory safe and secure.

Trek difficultly level is Medium, but you need be careful for trek route. On a way you will get sigh mark but some point you need to be careful for right turn.

Please note as per my trek experience i suggest always walk towards left side direction, because correct trek route is on our left side..so pack your bags & let's go..

A short video of my trek to Asherigad.

About Asherigad:
Asheri Fort / Asheri is a fort located 102 km from Mumbai and 88 km from Thane. It is in Palghar district, of Maharashtra. This fort is an important fort in Palghar district. The fort is located on the hills near Mendhavan Khind on Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway. The base village Khodkona is a very small tribal village. The Fort restoration is done by the local villagers.

How to reach base Village:
By Road: You can take a private vehicle to the base village. From Palghar, ST buses also ply to base village of Khodkona. First ST bus to Khodkana leaves at 08:00 am from the Palghar ST Stand. ST buses will get you to the exit point of Khodkana village on Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway. The village is just 1-1.5 km away from this point.
Otherwise, you can take a 6 seater Tumtum auto to reach Mastan Naka (Rs.25-30 per seat). Then from Mastan naka, another tum-tum services are available to reach exit point of Khodkana.

Nearest Railway Station: Palghar station is the nearest railhead to reach this fort. The distance between Palghar station & Asherigad fort is 31 km. So you can either catch an ST bus or hire a vehicle from the Palghar station.
