Road Ready Campground Review, Fort Bridger RV Camp, Fort Bridger Wyoming. As we made our way west along I80, we wanted to stop for a couple days in Wyoming. We found this place through good sams, and it happened to be still open. The spots were large, and the staff friendly. We had full hook ups with 50 amp service, and some great views. It was also right next to the Fort Bridger State Historic Site. It was an important trading post and stop along the Oregon trail.

Fort Bridger Wyoming
In this video, we visited Fort Bridger in Wyoming. Named after the famous mountain man, Jim Bridger.
Thornburg the dog buried at Fort Bridger, was the sole survivor of a military wagon train that was burned by Indians on September 19, 1879. As a small puppy, Thornburgh was found whimpering next to the body of his mother who was killed in the battle. He was named after Major T. T. Thornburgh who was also killed in the massacre.

Fort Laramie is a former trading post and later army fort at the confluence of the Laramie River and the North Platte River in southeastern Wyoming near the town of Fort Laramie. On June 26, 1849, the fort was purchased by the US government for $ 4,000 and converted into a United States Army post. Main task of the army post was to protect immigrants and settlers, who were traveling here on the Oregon Trail or California Trail, from encroachments of the Indians. Fort Laramie was significantly expanded, it created several large buildings, which were arranged around a large mustering area. Today, Fort Laramie belongs to the 1916 founded National Park Service of the United States. Many buildings were restored, elaborately reconstructed and furnished in detail with objects from the time.

Forts of the Frontier West--Preview
SAMPLE CHAPTER—PRICING & ORDERS
OR
The opening of the West is the most colorful and romanticized period in American history, and the forts of the Western frontier were silent witnesses to this history. From the Northern Plains to the Southwest, from the Mississippi River to the Pacific Ocean, on the Santa Fe Trail and the Oregon Trail, they were forerunners of settlement, bastions of refuge, centers of trade, and outposts of diplomatic and martial relations with indigenous peoples and foreign colonial powers.

Fort Caspar, Wyoming, United states
Fort Caspar, Wyoming, United States 2005, museum and historic site by City of Casper
Fort Caspar was a military post of the United States Army in present-day Wyoming, named after 2nd Lieutenant Caspar Collins, a U.S. Army officer who was killed in the 1865 Battle of the Platte Bridge Station against the Lakota and Cheyenne. Originally founded in 1859 along the banks of the North Platte River as a trading post and toll bridge on the Oregon Trail, the post was later taken over by the Army and named Platte Bridge Station to protect emigrants and the telegraph line against raids from Lakota and Cheyenne in the ongoing wars between those nations and the United States. The site of the fort, near the intersection of 13th Street and Wyoming Boulevard in Casper, Wyoming, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is now owned and operated by the City of Casper as the Fort Caspar Museum and Historic Site.

This visit was in August 1985. Ft. Laramie was a very important fort during the Indian Wars. The discoloration and lack of sharpness in the video is from aging video tape, this was transfered from VHS tape taken in 1985.
