Fort Charlotte, St Vincent

After capturing the island of St. Vincent from the French, Fort Charlotte was built in 1763 and completed in 1806 to defend the island against French attacks and Carib unrest in the region. It sits perched 600 ft. on the south west corner of the island along the harbor of its capital, Kingstown.

I run into a dead end driving uphill from the St. Vincent Botanical Gardens, then find the correct road to Fort Charlotte, which overlooks Kingstown, capital of St. Vincent & the Grenadines

Fort Charlotte - St.Vincent And The Grenadines

Today's Adventure was Fort Charlotte SVG:
Fort Charlotte is a British-colonial era fort, built on a hill over-looking the harbour of Kingstown, Saint Vincent. It is located in the parish of Saint Andrew, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. at the top of Edinboro road, on Berkshire Hill, just west of the town.
Standing at 600 feet above the sea level, it is the major early 19th century fortification in Saint Vincent. The fort enjoys a panoramic view of the Leeward side of the island, including Kingstown, Young Island, the Caribbean, Bequia and the Grenadines. On a clear day, Grenada 90 miles to the south, can be seen (using binoculars of course)

Seven days on the beautiful island of St Vincent and the Grenadines. Exploring this enchanting island with my wife, after being gone for 31 years. There are so to do and so many places to visit in St Vincent and the Grenadines , seven days may not be enough time.

Here are some of the amazing places we visited during our stay on Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Enjoy the falls at Dark View Falls, the Botanical Gardens in Kingstown, Port of Kingston, the beaches and restaurants on Indian Bay and Young Island, St. George’s Anglican Cathedral, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Kingston Methodist Church, Kingston Fish Market, Kingstown, Fort Charlotte, Arnos Vale Sports Complex, Paradise Beach, La Soufriere,

Driving on Saint Vincent and the Grenadines was relative easy and safe once we realized that they drive on the left side of the road. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is a great place to visit. I recommend visiting the island once or twice because there are so much history, beauty, couture and great food to be had.

You will see all this and more in my video, from the air port to the hotel on Young Island and all the other adventures we enjoyed so much on St Vincent and the Grenadines during our vacation.

Good Morning from SVG: Day 1 (Dark View Falls, Fort Charlotte and Wallilabou Bay Tour)

Marlon Joseph of the SVG Tourism Authority gave us a tour of the Leeward end of the Island. We visited Dark View Falls, Fort Charlotte and Wallilabou Bay (Site used to shoot Pirates of the Caribbean 1&2).
