Pink Floyd Shine On You Crazy Diamond - Drone Flight over Fort Foster, Kittery, Maine
This is an atmospheric drone flight video featuring Fort Foster, Whaleback Light, and the Wood Island Lifesaving Station. Music: Pink Floyd - Shine on You Crazy Diamond (Pts. 1-5). Shot on Saturday, May 18, 2019.
Fort Foster was part of the Harbor Defense of Portsmouth, designed to protect the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard from enemy attack durring WWI and WWII. In addition to gun batteries at Fort Dearborne, Fort Foster, and Fort Stark, further protection was afforded by submarine nets stretched across the mouth of the Piscataqua River. Some of the wooden pilings from which the nets were suspended are still in place. The nets were not 100% effective as there are stories from German U-Boat crews of slipping up the river and observing the goings on at the shipyard.
This is the longest video I've posted to date. Longer videos generally don't do as well as shorter videos, but they are easier to assemble if you've got good, smooth footage. I'll follow this one up with a series of shorter videos to appease the on-the-go crowd.

Exploring Fort Mcclary
Fort McClary is a former defensive fortification of the United States military located along the southern coast of Maine at Kittery Point. Built at the mouth of the Piscataqua River, it was used primarily throughout the 19th century to protect approaches to the harbor of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and the U.S. naval shipyard.
The property and its surviving structures, including a blockhouse dating from 1844, are now owned and operated by the State of Maine as Fort McClary State Historic Site.
