SUMMARY
=======
Harrisburg ( HARR-iss-burg; Pennsylvania German: Harrisbarrig) is the capital city of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the United States, and the county seat of Dauphin County. With a population of 49,192, it is the 15th largest city in the Commonwealth. It lies on the east bank of the Susquehanna River, 107 miles (172 km) west of Philadelphia. Harrisburg is the anchor of the Susquehanna Valley metropolitan area, which had a 2017 estimated population of 571,903, making it the third most populous in Pennsylvania and 96th most populous in the United States.
Harrisburg played a notable role in American history during the Westward Migration, the American Civil War, and the Industrial Revolution. During part of the 19th century, the building of the Pennsylvania Canal and later the Pennsylvania Railroad allowed Harrisburg to become one of the most industrialized cities in the Northeastern United States. The U.S. Navy ship USS Harrisburg, which served from 1918 to 1919 at the end of World War I, was named in honor of the city. In the mid-to-late 20th century, the city's economic fortunes fluctuated with its major industries consisting of government, heavy manufacturing, agriculture, and food services (nearby Hershey is home of the chocolate maker, located just 10 miles (16 km) east).
The Pennsylvania Farm Show, the largest free indoor agriculture exposition in the United States, was first held in Harrisburg in 1917 and has been held there every early-to-mid January since then. Harrisburg also hosts an annual outdoor sports show, the largest of its kind in North America, an auto show, which features a large static display of new as well as classic cars and is renowned nationwide, and Motorama, a two-day event consisting of a car show, motocross racing, remote control car racing, and more. Harrisburg is also known for the Three Mile Island accident, which occurred on March 28, 1979, near Middletown.
In 2010 Forbes rated Harrisburg as the second best place in the U.S. to raise a family. Despite the city's recent financial troubles, in 2010 The Daily Beast website ranked 20 metropolitan areas across the country as being recession-proof, and the Harrisburg region landed at No. 7. The financial stability of the region is in part ...
Bearfort Paranormal with Steve Lewis Gettysburg Military National Park Civil War Field Investigation
We made our way back to Gettysburg for the annual Phenomenology event. Things were just a little different as teammate / medium Steve Lewis joined us all the way from Australia. While we were excited to explore the entire park with him, we chose to once again focus our attention on the location of the Farnsworth Calvary Charge.
Paranormal claims are rampant in the military park, as well as the entire surrounding area. Gettysburg itself has become a mecca for ghost hunters and history buffs alike. Reports are numerous, and include everything from capturing evp's to full body apparitions. Some say the activity here is so strong because of the great trauma that enveloped this town in such a short period of time. Others believe it has to do with the fact that the history itself has been kept alive here.
The Battle of Gettysburg was fought over a 3-day period between July 1-3, 1863.
The battle took place in and around the town itself, and had the largest number of casualties in the Civil War. It is often described as the war's turning point. Between 48,000 and 52,000 soldiers from both armies were casualties in this three-day battle alone. That November, President Lincoln used the dedication ceremony for the Gettysburg National Cemetery to honor the fallen Union soldiers and redefine the purpose of the war in his historic Gettysburg Address.
We concentrated this investigation on the site of The Farnsworth Calvary Charge. The charge itself was responsible for heavy losses on both the Union and Confederate sides. Farnsworth himself was shot five times in the chest. An account by Confederate Colonel William C. Oates claimed that Farnsworth was surrounded by Confederate soldiers and committed suicide to avoid capture. This, however, has been disputed by other witnesses and discounted by most historians over the years.
It was very interesting for Bob & I to return to this spot with Steve (mysticalmedium.com.au) and experience his first impressions.
Steve was hit with a barrage of feelings and visions that were quite overwhelming for him. Anyone who has been to Gettysburg can relate to the blanket of emotion that seems to hang in the air. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for someone
with his abilities.
We set up an experiment with two REM Pods; one anchored by the Union flag and one anchored by the Confederate flag. What happened next was pretty interesting, though I don’t think it will fly with the skeptics out there.
Later we moved on to a P-SB7 session, which yielded some interesting results as well as an EVP or two.
We realize the audio is not up to par; headphones are definitely needed to hear the EVP’s and much of the ITC session. This was a bit of a rough shoot due to the elements. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
We found several men by the name of James Thornton that served during the civil war. Unfortunately, we were unable to place any of these men specifically at the site of the Farnsworth Calvary Charge though many were at Gettysburg. As for Thomas Gayle (or Gail / Gale), I did locate a few soldiers under the various possible spellings. Unfortunately, we were unable to link any of them to Gettysburg.

Bearfort Paranormal Investigates The Farnsworth House Gettysburg Pa
The Farnsworth definitely seems to have quite a bit of phenomena associated with it. While in the basement, we witnessed a wooden chair suddenly move several inches across the floor. No one was within 15 feet of it. As luck would have it, we had just momentarily turned our camera off. We were a little luckier in the attic where we were able to catch the door open and close twice. We are satisfied that it was properly latched the second time we caught it, but would like to have had the opportunity to try and debunk it further.
The atmosphere was quite heavy as we finally made our way to the second floor. Our EMF meters were recording values from .1 to 10.0. while in the McFarlane Room. Some disembodied breaths and an evp were captured as well. We should note that 2 of the 3 investigators present experienced dizziness and nausea. One investigator requested to leave as a result. Two of us returned about 30 minutes later.
The house felt a bit calmer for some reason. We captured another very clear evp while we were investigating the Shultz room in the rear of the house
The Old Stone House// Creepy but beautiful
The Old Stone House is a historic inn and museum of rural life located in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania.
The Stone House was built in 1822 by John Brown as a stagecoach stop and tavern to accommodate business from the newly-constructed Pittsburgh to Erie Pike, a busy highway that carried traffic northward from the forks of the Ohio River.
Travelers staying at the Stone House mingled with locals anxious for news from other parts; the house’s “tavern room” was a lively place of conversation, merriment, and hearty food. In the evening, travelers bedded down in simple (and often uncomfortable) quarters in the house’s upper rooms.
During its long history, the Stone House also served as a local post office and was used as a muster point during the Civil War. The inn was sometimes visited by highway bandits, and also was the hangout for two separate gangs of counterfeiters, one of which was led by a sinister figure whose cold demeanor earned him the nickname “Old Man North Pole.”
By the 1870s, the growth of the railroads meant the house was no longer needed as a stopping place for highway travelers. Consequently, the structure was rented as a family farmstead. Tenants still accepted occasional travelers for the night, and on Sunday, served chicken dinners to guests. The last occupants abandoned the venerable, old structure in 1918. For years, motorists along Route 8 could still see the crumbling walls jutting over the dense underbrush that covered the site.
Finally, in 1963 the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, hoping to attract visitors to the northern side of Moraine State Park, undertook the task of restoring the historic building. When the project was finished, the house was furnished with artifacts donated by local citizens. The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy turned over the restored structure to the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) which operated the site as a museum for 20 years.
In the early 1980s, when the nationwide recession hit the tourist industry, the PHMC decided to sell the Stone House. Local citizens were outraged by this proposition, since their donations of money and artifacts had made the restoration possible. State Senator Tim Shaffer, working with the administration of Slippery Rock University, arranged a lease agreement with the PHMC that would allow the university to administer the site while the museum authority in Harrisburg retained ownership.
Eventually, the PHMC approached SRU with a proposal to enhance the university’s administration over the site. SRU President G. Warren Smith recognized the potential of the property for furthering the educational mission of the university, and in 1999 SRU took over ownership of the site. Today the Old Stone House museum is managed by faculty and students from the university’s History department.
MISSION
The Old Stone House exists to:
-collect, preserve, and research the history of Slippery Rock and the surrounding area for the purpose of interpreting this history through exhibits and educational programming.
-serve as a site for public historical events of educational value, as well as for community celebrations and other civic events.
-provide a field experience opportunity for students at Slippery Rock University, through which basic principles of historic conservation, interpretation, and education can be learned.
