Fort Paull
Fort Paull
Kingston upon Hull
Fort Paull freaky experience
During the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, the primary fortification for the protection of the important port at Kingston-upon-Hull was the Hull Citadel. Located at the mouth of the confluence between the Rivers Hull and Humber, directly adjacent to the town and port, it had been built in 1681 incorporating the earlier Hull Castle and a Tudor blockhouse. During the Napoleonic Wars it was augmented by additional earthwork batteries at Spurn Head and Paull Point. The latter, which is located four miles upstream from the port on the northern banks of the river, was an earthwork battery equipped with six 24-pounder guns. This site had previously been fortified during the Civil War when Royalist forces, who were besieging the pro-Parliamentary town, had built an earthwork fort to prevent supplies being brought up the Humber.

Road Trip 2 - Part 6 Fort Paull
Fort Paull dates back from 1542 from the medieval period time. The fort was commissioned by Henry VIII as a defence for the busy and growing Humber ports.
It’s main use is from 1861-1864 and 1864-1960.
It had heavy use in World War Two to protect the luffwaffe from reaching the city of Hull and being bombed.
Our explore here nothing but fantastic. It has many deep tunnels concerted with huge guns to protect the air space and Humber.
Lost of planes and a train to go in.
One of the best explores we have done to date.
This road trip is in 8 parts and 1 live stream.

Air Raid Shelter - Fort Paull
Went for a quick ride out to Paull, to find the location of an old ROC post and stopped off at Fort Paull to record this structure just outside of the main fort walls. I'm currently trying to trace the owner of the land upon which the post stands, as it is securely locked.
