This cool old fort in Newcastle (not Paramatta) was designed buy the same UK man who designed forts for NZ up and down the coasts. It was shelled during WW2 along with inland industrial targets by the Japs.

The picturesque foreshore of Newcastle Harbour, NSW Australia is the setting for the firing of the WWII guns at Fort Scratchley on the holiday long weekend in October 2012. Filmed from the suburb of Stockton on the peninsular across the harbour entrance.The guns fired in anger during WWII against a Japanese submarine which shelled the city on 8th June 1942. RAAF F/A-18 Hornets returning from Australia Day Display 2016 and forming up over Newcastle.
Once the display was performed over Sydney Harbour or Australia Day the 3 Hornets made their way back up the coast line at low level and reformed to the south of Newcastle. They make their way over Lake Macquarie before heading heading down the Hunter River and the township of Newcastle.

Convict Era Tunnel (c1816) and Brick Culvert (c.1850s) Church Street Newcastle
Mr Bill Jordan introduces us to a convict era tunnel dating from around 1816 and brick culvert (circa 1850s) that lies beneath the streets of Church Street, Newcastle (Australia).
He believes that it is the earliest Australian engineering works still in use to this day.
A robot camera was sent through the tunnel to ascertain the level of maintenance repairs required to the convict structure.
