WW2 US Cavalry Reenacting - 26th Cavalry, Philippine Scouts 1941-42
One of my horse-related hobbies is WW2 US cavalry reenacting… no not the “Fort Apache John Wayne” stuff, nor civil war stuff… but WW2. Being a WW2 history buff and a horse aficionado make for getting into cavalry reenacting likely. I get together with some WW2 reenactor and horsey friends in Virginia a couple of times a year to do living history. We usually participate in a living history event at Secret Passage Ranch, in Fort Valley, VA. It’s a very scenic place as you can see in these GoPro footages. Those of us who don’t own horses rent from the ranch. They have civil war era horse tack, not WW2 but from afar you can’t tell much, plus it’s better than nothing. We go on a trail ride pretending to be on patrol… work on our formations, horsemanship, and even do some charges for fun.
We also attend the living history event at the Americans in Wartime Museum in Nokesville, VA. This is very vehicle and armor centric event usually held in September. The beginning part of the video that showed the armored scout car was a footage from that event. We were doing a cavalry demo for the public.
The unit we portray is the 26th Cavalry, Philippine Scouts. It was the last US cavalry unit to fight on horseback. They were stationed in the Philippines at the outbreak of WW2 and was still a horse-mounted unit at that time. The enlisted cavalrymen were Filipinos, and the officers were mostly Americans. They did have M3 scout cars (like in the beginning part of this video), trucks, and motorcycles along with horses. They fought the Japanese invasion valiantly all the way to Bataan, and were among the best trained troops that Gen. MacArthur had during the defense of the Philippines at the outbreak of the Pacific war. They are also known for having made the last horse-mounted charge in US Cavalry history, in the town of Morong, Bataan. I personally knew some of the surviving veterans before they all passed away. Reenacting and keeping the 26th Cavalry’s history alive is particularly meaningful for me.
Playing army cavalry… riding horses… this hobby has my name written all over it.

Prepare With The Ranch -
Leah and I are two humans who no longer support the inhuman, oligarchic empire model destroying our planet and our true nature as human beings. As activists we decided to do something about it, so we opted out of our former lives to begin anew. We are currently transforming pristine alpine wilderness into a self-sustaining homestead and organic farm in preparation for the upcoming collapse. We plan on developing and executing every single step of the process in open source format for the benefit of all humanity. With our backgrounds in academia and the sciences (climatology, geology, physics, biology, chemistry, and more) we hope to uncover the lies perpetrated by the mass media. It will be presented here and on our website in a systematic and thorough process. As you can imagine, this is a multifaceted, lifelong project, and we are so passionately excited to take the next steps towards self sufficiency and our dream! Won't you join us?
