Starigrad Fortress is a 15th century fortress located near Omiš.
The Fortica was built during the Croatian–Turkey wars as a primary defence against the Turkish Empire. In the event of attack, its purpose was to provide refuge for local people and be a stronghold where they could retreat to and resist the Turks.
The fortress is about 50 minutes walk along a steep slope where you can also meet squirrels. The view from the fortress is fantastic and you immediately forget walking to the top. Entrance fee for visiting the fortress is 15 kn.

I got this from the Wikipedia site. = )
Omiš was well known in the past by the Corsairs of Almissa (Omiški gusari)[4] whose Sagittas (ships) (Genitive case: Sagittae, translated as The Arrow), brought fame to them because they were built for attack and fast retrieval into the mouth of the Cetina River, protecting the town from foreign invaders. At a very early date, neighbours of the Corsairs of Almissa, the highlanders of the Poljica Principality [5] (Poljička Republika), became their friends and allies. This allowed them to harass the seaborne trade, without fear of a sudden attack from inland.
Historical monuments:
Church of St Euphemia by the coast on Brzet, from the early 6th century
Mirabella Fortress (Peovica) from the 13th century
Starigrad Fortress (Fortica) from the 15th century
Renaissance church of the Holy Spirit from the 15th century
Old cemetery, the 16th century or 17th century
Parochial church from the 17th century
Franciscan Monastery on Skalice from the 18th century
In the Priko neighborhood, on the right bank of the Cetina River, stands the site with the most historic significance: the pre-Romanesque Church of St. Peter (Crkva Sv. Petra) from the tenth century A.D. This single-naved edifice, with a cupola and apse, was used in the 18th century as a Glagolithic seminary for novice priests.
Fortress Mirabella — Omiš | 360º VR | Pointers Travel
Just above the roofs of the old town, as a permanent reminder of the glorious pirate history, stands one of the most famous Omiš landmarks – the fortress of Mirabela. The old pirates of Omiš used Mirabela as a lookout over the Channel of Brač, so that rich merchant ships had no way of sailing along the coast of Omiš unnoticed. The fortress itself was built in the 13th century. Mirabela stands today as one of the most popular landmarks of Omiš, attracting tourists with its accessibility and the one of a kind view over the entire town offered from the top of the fortress.

OMIS CROATIA IS A MUST SEE
Omiš is a must-see travel destination in Croatia! ⇩⇩Click ‘show more’⇩⇩
If you are looking for a beautiful small township to explore in Croatia, I highly recommend coming to Omiš. I was just blown away with the beauty this small town has.
From the Cetina river to the Old town and of course the wonderful clear blue beaches. It left me surprised as to why I hadn’t heard of this place any sooner. Omiš is bursting with beautiful mountains and beaches to explore and after just one day here I want to come back again as soon as possible.
Although we didn’t have time, one of the must-do things in Omis is to walk up the 13th century Mirabella fortress. This fortress was used by the pirates who used to retreat into it for their safety of the Cetina gorge. And apparently, they used to call out and fire shots to the attackers confusing them causing their enemies to flee. It takes about 30 minutes to walk right to the top, and you have to climb the ladder inside of the tower to get the best views as I am still yet to see.

Hi there. take a look at this video of Omiš maybe this will help you to decide where to go this summer.
About Omiš
Omiš is a town and port in the Dalmatia region of Croatia and is a municipality in the Split-Dalmatia County. The town is situated approximately 25 kilometers (16 miles) south-east of Croatia's second largest city, Split. It is located at the mouth of Cetina River. Omiš is best known for the traditional festival of the Dalmatian a cappella singing groups. This festival is the highlight of Omiš's summer, the expression of the town's beauty. Omiš's Summer Festival - during which various concerts and recitals are performed - takes place at the plazas and in churches.
Interesting history of Omiš
In the past, Omiš was well known for its Pirates of Almissa (Omiški gusari) whose ships, called Sagittas (Arrows), brought them fame and fortune due to their ability to attack quickly and retreat into the mouth of river Cetina, beyond the reach of bigger and better armed sea-faring vessels. At one point, Pirates of Almissa allied themselves with the highlanders of the Poljica Principality (Poljička Republika) which allowed them to harass the seaborne trade without fear of an attack from land.
Monuments and landmarks of Omiš
Due to its rich and interesting history, Omiš remains a home to some very interesting monuments and buildings including Mirabella Fortress (Peovica) and Starigrad Fortress (Fortica) from 13th and 15th century, respectively. Omiš also has a number of churches including the Church of Saint Euphemia from the early 6th century as well as the Renaissance church of the Holy Spirit from the 15th century.
Omiš is certainly a beautiful little town worth putting on your bucket list. Located only 25 kilometers from the second largest city in Croatia, it offers countless possibilities for summer activities without the crowds of Split.

The Fortress IMBER or FORTICA is mediaeval stronghold placed just above OMIŠ. A few centuries ago, fortress was defending town from the Turk's attacks. Today, it is well preserved and wonderful place to visit. It's placed only 40 minutes from the town center. It does not take much effort to climb up, and the sight that expects you is wonderful reward. It would be a shame not to take chance for Breathless view. Endless sea and islands in front of you, river and mountains nearby and behind you.
