Niha Fortress, Lebanon
The Fortress of Niha is an ancient fortress in Lebanon, which has been first mentioned in 975 AD. Carved into the rock of a cliff overlooking the Bisri and 'Aray valley, the fortress has a strategic location for monitoring the road between Sidon and the Bekaa Valley. It is located in Niha Chouf in Lebanon, and is today visited as cultural heritage in the Shouf Cedar Nature Reserve.
I'd recommend you spend your day discovering Al-Shouf villages, Hiking in Shouf Biosphere, and watching the sunset at Niha Fortress. You only have to buy one entrance ticket for both places. Check out this website for more info.

it's a final project in Amenagement touristique et culturel at Saint- Joseph University in order to encourage ecotourisme in Lebanon and discover a new region for the lebanese people and the foreing tourists.

Niha is situated 65 km southeast of Beirut in the mohafaza of Mount Lebanon (within the Chouf caza). The town covers an area of 22000 hectares, standing at an altitude of 1,050 meters above sea level. Its most important touristic sites include the tomb of Nabi Ayoub (Job), Niha's rock-cut castle known as Shqif Tyron or fakhreddine fortress, the Saint Joseph Church and the Ain al-Qat'ah fountain.

هي بلدة جبلية تقع في سفح جبل نيحا من سلسلة جبال لبنان الغربية على ارتفاع يتراوح من 1050م إلى 1850م. تبلغ مساحتها حوالي 22000 هكتار وتبعد عن بيروت حوالي 65 كلم. شهدت هذه البلدة حضارات عديدة وتحتوي عدة معالم أثرية مهمة كمقام النبي أيوب˛ قلعة شقيف تيرون المعروفة بقلعة فخر الدين˛ كنيسة مار يوسف وعين القاطعة.

The word ‘Niha’ means a place for rest. The village used to be Baalbeck Roman emperor’s summer place.
It is known for its citadels dated back to the Roman Empire, some even further back to the Byzantine and Phoenician era. The citadels are grand, with an importance as big as Baalbeck’s but on a smaller scale.
