130 years of the Wynyard Show
Wynyard Tasmania Australia is a centre of agriculture on the North West coast of Tasmania. It sits on the banks of the Inglis River sheltered by Table Cape, flat-topped and fertile.
The Wynyard Agricultural and Pastoral Society hold the Wynyard Agricultural Show or Carnival in March each year. The Show is one of Tasmania's oldest local shows and still retains its classic country feel.
Come and see the animals, watch the horses, or marvel at the giant pumpkins entered in the pumpkin growing competition.
Axemen compete in the woodchopping arena and sideshow alley and show-bags are still favourites for the kids and bigger kids.
hundreds of farmers who converged at the Wynyard showgrounds for some friendly competition and good conversation.
the Wynyard show served as a breeding ground for new farming ideas, networking opportunities and education.
“Showing the animals is just a small part of it because it’s also a good chance to meet with other farmers and hear what they’re doing, and what their experiences have been,” Mr Perkins said.
Preparations for the Wynyard show could start as far ahead as 12 months prior to the event.
Hundreds of attendees enjoyed fun food, fashion shows and displays of birds, sheep and rabbits at the show on Saturday.
The Wynyard Historic Society shared stories of the show’s long past and consistent popularity.
