2005.10.13-Resin Coated Fossil Marble Table-Erfoud, Morocco
Here is an example of how fossil marble slabs are polished (coated with resin) and made for tables or decorative pieces. They dont do the best work since usually when you turn the table over there are hardened resin droplets hanging down.
These marble slabs are sold world wide by many dealers and are even in some of ancient europes churches.
The fossils found within this marble are Orthoceras (prehistoric Squid) and Goniatite (Ammonite, prehistoric Nautilus).

Natural design. Fossils. Morocco.
Outer space within stone. How can one compete with the nature?
The pictures are taken at one of the local workshops in Merzouga, Morocco, where they cut stones to find these ancient fossils imprinted in stone.

Wikipedia:
Ammonites (pronunciation: /ˈæmənaɪts/) are an extinct group of marine mollusc animals in the subclass Ammonoidea of the class Cephalopoda. These molluscs are more closely related to living coleoids (i.e., octopuses, squid, and cuttlefish) than they are to shelled nautiloids such as the living Nautilus species. The earliest ammonites appear during theDevonian, and the last species died out during the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event.
Ammonites are excellent index fossils, and it is often possible to link the rock layer in which a particular species or genus is found to specific geologic time periods. Their fossil shells usually take the form of planispirals, although there were some helically spiraled and nonspiraled forms (known as heteromorphs).
The name ammonite, from which the scientific term is derived, was inspired by the spiral shape of their fossilized shells, which somewhat resemble tightly coiled rams' horns. Pliny the Elder (d. 79 AD near Pompeii) called fossils of these animals ammonis cornua (horns of Ammon) because the Egyptian god Ammon (Amun) was typically depicted wearing ram's horns.[1] Often the name of an ammonite genus ends in -ceras, which is Greek (κέρας) for horn.
Orthoceras (straight horn) is a genus of extinct nautiloid cephalopod. This genus is sometimes called Orthoceratites. Note it is sometimes misspelled as Orthocera, Orthocerus or Orthoceros (Sweet 1964:K222).
Orthoceras fossils are common and have a global distribution, occurring in any marine rock, especially in limestone.
These are slender, elongate shells with the middle of the body chamber transversely constricted, and a subcentral orthochoanitic siphuncle. The surface is ornamented by a network of fine lirae (Sweet 1964:K224). Many other very similar species are included under the genus Michelinoceras.

Fossil Workshop December 2011 pt2
Part 2 of the fossil workshop hosted at Galster Park Nature Center with host Keith Krzywiec. Participants broke the same fossil bearing conglomerate we would look through and got to keep anything they found unless it was scientifically important. Fossils found were 6-8 million years old and included things like shark teeth and shells.

2005.10.11-Prep Lab-Part 01-Erfoud, Morocco
So if you ever go to Morocco and have any interest in fossils you have to go to the Museum on the southern end of Erfoud and visit their Prep Lab. The quality of work coming from this small museum is some of the best in the world.
Pictured here (in order of appearance):
1. Very large Crinoid plate, these are generally preped with an acid splash and then cleaned up a bi afterwards as seen here.
2. A smaller plaque but just as noteworthy; this is a new species of Crinoid and is being preped by having a black filler spread over the specimento make it stand out from the matrix a bit more and when it dries they remove the excess. This is to ensure the fossil doesnt fall apart.
3. A large trilobite plaque featuring several species of animals. First you notice the huge ammounts of Selenopeltis bucci, secondly there are two species of starfish pictures, and finally there are various other species of trilobites present-Asaphus, Onnia, and Bomstrella.

September 2012 we went to Fossil Hill near Lovelock, NV. We are all avid rock and mineral hunters from Northern CA. Fossil Hill is an area where you can find ammonites, brachiopods, and sea snails from around 125 million years ago.

Pedinopariops Trilobite Cluster From Jorf, Morocco. Item #18622
This is a really sweet cluster of Pedinopariops collected at Jorf, Morocco. This preservation from this area is quite unique and leaves the trilobites with an almost plastic look to them. The rock is partially metamorphosed with no discernible layers and lots of quartz seems in it which makes it a challenge to collect. Because there are no layers to follow, finding trilobites is a really hit or miss proposition and the site is not heavily collected. Finding multiples like this is quite unusual. Item #18622.
