四四南村｜Four Four South Village

Four Four South Village was originally a factory in China, but because of the civil war between the Nationalist Government and the Communist Party, it was moved to the Xinyi District in Taipei in 1948. This place has been renovated. Now it can mainly be divided into four parts: Exhibition Hall (Taipei City Xinyi Parent-Child Center), Exhibition Hall for Military Family Villages, Good Cho’s, and Community Hall.

Part of what makes Taipei so beautiful is that you can find wonderful, interesting markets and streets hidden far away from the touristy parts. Everyone wants to go see Taipei 101, but what if we decide to go a little further? In this Taipei in 4K video, we went south of Xinyi street away from Taipei 101 to look at charming little things like Four Four South Village, Wuxing Street with its nice parks, the Linjiang Street Night Market, and ending up with Xiao Long Bao at 明月湯包 restaurant, a hidden gem.

2019年6月に台北旅行へ行ってきました！
今回は１人旅です。

⑪になります。
今回は台北101／世貿駅から徒歩４分ほどの場所にある
「四四南村」へとやってきました。
最初駅から地上に出た時に台北101がそびえ立っていたのに驚きましたが四四南村はレトロな雰囲気を感じる場所となっています。
台北101と四四南村とのギャップがとても面白いと感じました。
元々は軍人村として使われていたんだそうです。
現在は日曜日にあるとマーケットが開かれているそうです。
今回は平日に訪れたので建物内のSHOPと外から建物の感じなどを見て回りました。とても落ち着く場所だったので次回も機会を見つけてぜひ来たいなとおもいました。

Taipei 101 Observatory (台北101觀景台):
Please don't go if you have acrophobia. Also, if you go very early (9 AM) you can get up there more quickly with much less people around. Tell the guard at the front door you want to go to the observatory.


Four Four South Village (四四南村):
Not far from Taipei 101. Have markets on the weekend. A very nice place to shoot photos.

四四南村位於台北市三張犁，位置約為現今信義路五段、基隆路二段、松平路、莊敬路一帶，為國民政府遷台後所興建的眷村之一，村內居民全為聯勤第四十四兵工廠的廠工，因位於四四兵工廠之南，故名四四南村，當地居民多以「南村」稱呼之。

依據「四四南村國家古蹟促進聯盟」的調查，該村興建於1948年，應為國民政府在台灣所建立的第一座眷村，亦是第一座被保留下的眷村。現四四南村大部分已拆除，部分房舍另改建為「信義公民會館」。

南村房舍與一般早期的眷村相同，主要以木材、竹籬、石灰及瓦片所建築而成，為一連棟式的平房，採「魚骨狀」的架構排列，共分甲字號、乙字號、丙字號三大建築群，甲字號位於莊敬路以西，乙字號位於莊敬路以東，丙字號則緊鄰乙字號東邊，並與信義國小相鄰。早期村內無自來水設施、亦無廁所，僅能藉由村內的公共廁所解決方便問題，且各戶空間均不到10坪、巷道狹窄，生活條件極為不佳，直至1999年因火災而拆除時[1]，多半仍維持50年前的模樣。

由於四四南村的居民主體均為廠工，不具軍職、軍階，與國防部的眷改規定有資格適用上的衝突，且南村住戶眾多龐雜，對於拆遷改建的補償遲遲無法達成協議，加上眾多文化界人士反對全數拆除、要求保留部分具代表性的建築，以作為眷村文化的留影。綜合以上諸多的因素，所以四四南村的拆遷案始終懸而未決，直到2001年才正式拍板定案。

Si Si Nancun is located in Sanzhangli, Taipei. The site is located at the fifth section of Xinyi Road, the second section of Keelung Road, Songping Road and Zhuangjing Road. It is one of the military establishments after the National Government relocated to Taiwan. Forty-fourth arsenal factory workers, because of the Fourth Arsenal in the South, hence the name four four South Village, local residents and more South Village call.

According to a survey conducted by the April Fourth Association of National Monuments and Monuments, the village was built in 1948 and should be the first one established by the National Government in Taiwan. It is also the first one to be retained. Most of the four or four South Villages have been demolished, and some of the houses have been rebuilt into Lutheran Citizens Hall.

The Nancun houses are the same as those in the early days. They are mainly built of wood, bamboo fence, limestone and tile. They are a series of bungalows and are arranged in a fish bone structure. They are divided into A-size and B Font size, C three buildings, A word is located west of Zhuangjing Road, B is located in the east of Zhuangjing Road, C-type number is adjacent to the east of B, and Xinyi small adjacent. In the early days, there were no running water facilities or toilet facilities in the village. Public conveniences in the village could only be used to solve the problems. Each household had less than 10 pits of space. The narrow roadway and extremely poor living conditions were dismantled in 1999 due to fire When [1], most still maintain the appearance of 50 years ago.

Due to the fact that the residents of Si Si Nancun are all factory workers and do not have military or military rank and are in conflict with the regulations of the Ministry of National Defense for their dependency and the number of residents in Nancun Village is too large to reach an agreement on the compensation for the demolition and reconstruction, Many cultural circles oppose the full dismantlement and require the preservation of some representative buildings as a fragment of the culture of the military dependents. Based on many factors above, the case of demolition of Si Si Nancun was still pending. It was not until 2001 that the formal decision was made.

Tiny Taipei Travelogue: A Downtown of Contrasts

In the shadow of the technologically miraculous Taipei 101 building lies the 137 acre Si-Si Nan Cun village that was partially preserved thanks to a popular movement as a Culture and History Studio after the last residents departed in 1999.

I send my sincere apologies for the rainyness of the day and the video... I think it was couple days just before the typhoon came and the weather was simply crap! Anyway I'm telling you, any condo unit located in this rich man area (xinyi district) cost at least 2-3 millions USD. That's why I was only there to grocery shop... And that story about Bellavita was entirely true. No joke!

As for Taipei 101, well it is a must visit for all and every tourists though for the locals it just ain't anything special lol I haven't even been on the observatory yet (well that's because it would cost me 20 bucks and packed with tourists from China at all times). The mall located in the lower floors of Taipei 101 though is also fancy as hell. So be prepped to just window shop!
