Molom - Legend of Mongolia (part 5 of 9)
Molom, conte de Mongolie (original title)
MOLOM-A LEGEND OF MONGOLIA
-By Renfreu Neff
Molom-A Legend of Mongolia - majestic is its backdrop of sweeping vistas and the rugged terrain of Mongolia a country little known to Westerners. The magical story of the shaman priest Molom, told in voice-over narration by his young apprentice Yonden, is as magical in its simplicity and subtle shadings as the mountains and steppes across which the two travel.
Abandoned by his father, a drunken Wolf Hunter, the boy Yonden lives with a wolf pack in the remote vastness of Mongolia. He is discovered by a wandering shaman Molom who, observing that the boy possesses certain auspicious characteristics, takes him on as his apprentice. They set out on a journey of discovery across mountainous territory peopled by nomadic clans and herders, wrestlers and storytellers. They encounter a band of drunken horsemen, a snaggletoothed sorceress, and a contest of holy men representing the spiritual philosophies of the world, all vying for the soul of a far-flung nomadic culture. They stop at sacred places, and Molom tells the story of the wondrous city of Shambhala, which they will visit.
This is the story of how Buddhism came to the Genghis Khan's ancient kingdom of Mongolia, which is now an independent republic ten times the size of Texas with a population of only six million, a raggedy, elliptical land of mountain and desert, browed to the north by Russia with China bordering to the east, south and west. Geographically separated by thousands of miles of barren stretches of Gobi Desert and towering Himalayan ranges that lie within China, the Buddhism practiced in Mongolia is, oddly enough, the same as that practiced in Tibet. In the Tibetan-Mongol Buddhist teachings, Shambhala is one of the heaven realms (but, alas, it is not perfect: to be reborn in Shambhala is to live only 100 years). The Shangri-La of Lost Horizon is a literary borrowing from the sacred myth of Shambhala. On another level, Shambhala is a metaphysical blueprint for a utopian paradise: the perfect society in which human suffering has ceased to exist. Shambhala is symbolized by the pearl, which is said to be contained within the heart. To get to the pearl-that is, to reach Shambhala-the heart must be opened.
None of this is easy. But Marie Jaoul de Poncheville's film makes it wondrously accessible, and her two characters-12-year-old Yondejunai, who lives with his family of nomads in a valley in Central Mongolia, and Tseded, at 75, one of the great actors of Mongolian cinema (over 50 films) and theatre (over 200 plays) and well-known on his country's radio and television-are thoroughly enjoyable traveling companions. Jacques Besse's gently luminous cinematography makes Mongolia appear to be a magical earthy realm, as the two make their way from the remote nether regions and arrive at last, with a playful irony that catches us up in our own misconceptions and illusions, in the city of Ulan Bator, where Molom entrusts his young pupil to a monastery to complete his education.
In the end Yonden shares with us his view of life. Wonder, Love and a Open Heart.

To the Warrior Lord Chinggis (Genghis Khan)
Blessed by the Upper Tenger (referencing to the God)

United all the might and power
Inflamed the spirits

What if the Mongol Empire Reunited Today?
The Mongol Empire at it's height took up 16% of all the land on Earth and controlled 1 out of every 4 people on the planet, a 13th century superpower. It's presence was very brief compared to other empires, but what if the Mongol Empire was suddenly recreated today with the same borders they had at their apex? This video attempts to answer that question using data analysis and statistics from readily available information and data.

Information On Some Phnom Penh Attractions
Wat Phnom (Wat Phnom Daun Penh)
Wat Phnom, the namesake and symbol of the capital city of Phnom Penh, sets prominently atop an artificial 27 meter hill (or 'Phnom') in the northeastern section of the city. Legend has it that Daun Penh, a wealthy widow, retrieved a large koki tree trunk from the river. She had hoped to use it for a house, but inside a hollow of the trunk, she found four statues of the Buddha. She then ordered for a section of her property to be elevated for a small shrine to be erected to revere the statues. This became a sacred site and people started to settle around the hill; eventually, this became the city it now is. It is here that the city gets its name: ‘Phnom’ means hill in Khmer and ‘Penh’ is of course the name of the lady.
Royal Palace
The Royal Palace of Cambodia is a complex of buildings, even though it is generally understood to be the royal abode of the King of Cambodia. The compound was the citadel of King Ponhea Yat (1393-1463) and rebuilt to its present state in 1886, when King Norodom (1834-1904) relocated the royal capital from Oudong to Phnom Penh. The buildings with beautiful towering spires are a great example of classic Khmer architecture found in Cambodia today.
Along with numerous other interesting buildings, within the 183,135 square meters (421m x 435m) compound is The Khemarin Palace, also known as Prasat Khemarin or the Palace of the Khmer King. This is officially the residence of His Majesty, King Norodom Sihamoni.
Silver Pagoda
The Silver Pagoda, also known as the Preah Vihear Preah Keo Morokat (the Emerald Pagoda) to Cambodians, lies within the grounds of the Royal Palace, which is situated near the banks of the Mighty Mekong.
Originally a wooden structure, the palace was initially constructed in 1892 during the reign of King Norodom, but rebuilt to its present grandeur by King Norodom Sihanouk in 1962. The king spared no effort to make this a true embodiment of brilliant Khmer art. More than 5300 pcs of 1.125 kilo silver tiles are used to cover the floor of the Silver Pagoda, and the silver pieces collectively weigh over six tons.
National Museum
The National Museum of Cambodia in Phnom Penh is the country’s leading historical and archaeological museum. It was officially inaugurated by King Sisowat in 1920.
Independence Monument (Vimean Ekareach)
Independence Monument (Vimean Ekareach) built in 1958 as a memorial to Cambodia's war dead and to celebrate independence from foreign rule, the monument stands majestically on the intersection of Norodom Boulevard and Sihanouk Boulevard in the centre of the city. It is designed by the influential Cambodian modern architect Vann Molyvann in the form of a lotus-shaped stupa in the same style seen at the great Khmer temple at Angkor Wat and other Khmer historical sites.
Phsar Thmey (Central Market)
Phsar Thmey, also known as Central Market, is a unique colonial style building constructed in 1937. The location where the Central Market now sits was once a swamp area and occupied by a lake known as Beng Decho. Today, this beautiful market has become a prominent landmark in Phnom Penh. In the Khmer language, Phsar Thmey literally means ‘New Market’.

The day turned, and I followed the rainbow between the white clouds and the dark clouds to the forest full of green. It is a village in the forest, which takes less than an hour by car from the capital, Riga. The rural hill, named after the Christian saint Janice, is the perfect place for Latvian lovers of devout Christianity and pagan tradition today, Yannis and Hajj. The road to the shortest night along the leaves of the moist oak tree. Women tie colored flowers together and put them on their heads, and the men cover their heads with large leaves and prepare for a special encounter with nature. It is a very special day for us. Because it is the day to receive energy from all of nature. Today, rain, sun, grass all blow big energy. It is made of oak leaves, and the oak tree symbolizes the strength and energy of the Latvian men. It is the day when flowers bloom most beautifully and the energy of nature reaches its peak. To get that beauty into all of our bodies, women are making garlands like this regardless of their age. The energy of the raindrop seems to have reached its peak. However, the pouring weather can not undermine the Latvians' passion for Haji. Standing at one side and singing at the other, listening to a song at the other side makes a corolla. The important thing is that no matter where you are, you will not stop the song that repeats 'Lie' and 'Lie'. If you do not write a flower today, it is rather noticeable, so I waited for the rain to stop and I decided to make a flower. Now I feel like I'm dressed properly. When you fall asleep, leave the coronation under your pillow. Then the man you will meet will appear in your dream

English Fighter Try to Defeat Mongol Warrior!
Choi Tseveenpurev(Choijiljaviin Tseveenpurev) Mongol Warrior
Choi Tseveenpurev' 11th July 2009
Choijiljavyn Choi Tseveenpürev (Mongolian: Чойжилжавын Цэвээнпүрэв; born October 6, 1971 in Ulan Bator, Mongolia) is a featherweight boxer.
Nicknamed the Mongolian Warrior, Choi is a self-styled latter-day Genghis Khan ranked in the top ten featherweights in the world and has been dubbed Britain's answer to Manny Pacquiao by the leading UK boxing commentator John Rawling.
On June 6, 2008, he was awarded with the title of 'State Honoured Athlete' by the Mongolian President, Nambaryn Enkhbayar.[1]
He is the current WBU featherweight champion following his destructive win over Derry Mathews in Bolton on April 5, 2008[2], and although a 15-month period of inactivity described as criminal by UK publication Boxing News[3] led him to briefly decide to retire, since signing up with Spencer Fearon's Hard Knocks Boxing Promotions in June 2009 he has set his sights on proving himself to be the number one 126lb fighter in the world in the next two years.
In his first fight under the Hard Knocks banner, Choi destroyed Lubos Prehradnik in three rounds on 11 July, his country's Independence Day in front of many of his countrymen who were earlier at London's Naadam celebrations. The crowd was described by boxing pundit Steve Bunce as the most passionate in British boxing for 30 years.
The antithesis of the modern-day protected boxer, Choi began his career with ten-rounders as an away fighter in South Korea and Thailand fighting legendary former and future world champion Veeraphol Sahaprom in only his third contest. This is the only one of his four defeats, all by points verdicts, not regarded as highly contentious.
His boxing career saw him travel to South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and China before settling in the UK in 2000. Choi is currently trained by Lee Wilkins, having previously worked with Jack Doughty until 2008.
Despite now being in his late 30s, Choi is convinced he is now at his peak and is unbeaten in the last five years stopping eight of his last nine opponents.
