Tứ Phủ - Four Palaces Show in Hanoi
“The four palaces” or Tu Phu Performance was inspired by the ritual of the spiritual medium ship (Len Dong) of the Mother Religion believing in The Mother Goddess who brings about favorable weather, happiness and fullness to people.
As a type of folk arts, Len Dong ritual is a spiritual performance that is aimed at paying respect to the historical Vietnamese heroes, who fought to defend the country and about the career masters who can be memorized by people nowadays.
Len Dong comprises of 36 sections. They are 36 different stories about 36 Gods and Goddesses. In each section, the medium is supposed to be incarnated by a different God or Goddess as soon as his or her head is covered by a red square scarf.

Len Dong ritual in Bao Son Paradise park, Hanoi
Len Dong ritual also called Hau Dong ritual is a sort of dance of those who practice Len Dong rituals with the aim to sublimate, to incarnate into the role of a character(god) whom they play.
The Len Dong person wears clothes symbolizing the god who incarnates into him/her by praying and kowtowing, and then showing movements concerning them. Generally through the clothes, one understands at once who that god is among the gods of the four-palace religion in the Vietnamese.
This ritual is popular in most areas where Vietnamese live. It characterises the type of religious dance of the Vietnamese.

1985 Vietnam: Hanoi shows off military and reeducation camp
Video shot by Jim Laurie March-April 1985 near Hanoi and in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) Foreign journalists were invited to Vietnam to mark ten years since the 'liberation' of Vietnam. First 3:35 shows a STAGED military display outside Hanoi. A short sequence then shows the NBC TODAY show at the Doc Lap Palace in Saigon. For the first time a US TV channel broadcasts live from Vietnam.
The final video shows reporters taken to a MODEL 're-education camp.' The reporters are not permitted by Communist authorities to interview prisoners. A spokesman makes the unbelievable claim that up to 3000 inmates chose to stay in the region after incarceration in the camp. At this point in history 1985, more than 300,000 (mostly) men had been kept in camps under harsh conditions for ten years. Not until United States normalization with Vietnam in 1995 were most prisoners released. Several hundred thousand with families were allowed to emigrate to America. Both the re-education system and the 'boat people exodus were the saddest legacies of the Vietnam War.
ALSO
Among the journalists seen in this video are Neil Davis, Bill Latch, Lew Simons, Peter Arnett and Arthur Lord (please send a note if you recognize others)
High above H'mong King's Palace in Vietnam
Read the full story at DiceTravels.com
The palace was built by wealthy warlord and opium trader Vuong Chinh Duc, who established his own H'mong army in the early 19th century.
Legend has it that a Chinese geomancer chose the location for the three court-yard palace in the cirques surrounded by the jagged karst limestone cliffs because the terrain looks like a turtle shell, which represents long life and wealth. The symmetrical building, which looks like three square zeros stacked on top of each other from above, was carefully positioned and constructed in accordance with feng shui.
It took Chinese labors and skilled H'mong craftsman about eight years to build the fort of stone, fir wood and Terra-cotta tiles in the Chinese architectural style of the Man Qing era.
The H'mong's craftsmanship is visible on the elegantly carved fir panels at the entrance, which stand between two plastered pillars with red Chinese script running down them. The entrance doors are open, as are the doors to the first court yard and the second and the third. Each doorway frames the one behind it; each getting smaller and smaller as they receded into the distance.
