The Grand Canyon, is a steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River in the state of Arizona in the United States. It is contained within and managed by Grand Canyon National Park, the Hualapai Tribal Nation, the Havasupai Tribe and the Navajo Nation. President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of preservation of the Grand Canyon area, and visited it on numerous occasions to hunt and enjoy the scenery.
The Grand Canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and attains a depth of over a mile (6,000 feet or 1,800 meters).[1] Nearly two billion years of Earth's geological history have been exposed as the Colorado River and its tributaries cut their channels through layer after layer of rock while the Colorado Plateau was uplifted.[2] While the specific geologic processes and timing that formed the Grand Canyon are the subject of debate by geologists,[3] recent evidence suggests that the Colorado River established its course through the canyon at least 17 million years ago.[4][5] Since that time, the Colorado River continued to erode and form the canyon to its present-day configuration.[6]
For thousands of years, the area has been continuously inhabited by Native Americans who built settlements within the canyon and its many caves. The Pueblo people considered the Grand Canyon (Ongtupqa in the Hopi language) a holy site, and made pilgrimages to it.[7] The first European known to have viewed the Grand Canyon was García López de Cárdenas from Spain, who arrived in 1540,More Info

Grand Canyon National Park ~ Williams Arizona
While traveling through Arizona we stopped in Williams and stayed at the Grand Canyon Railway RV Park. During our stay there we explored the town of Williams and discovered that a portion of Historic Route 66 ran right through the town. We inquired around and got a map to see how far we could go on the old highway. After leaving Williams, we headed for the National Park and spent 3 days exploring and hiking. What an adventure!
How To Visit Horseshoe Bend and Lower Antelope Canyon in Page, Arizona
We explored Horseshoe Bend and Lower Antelope Canyon of Page, Arizona in early September during Labor Day weekend. We started the day waking up early at 5:30 AM to see the sunrise at Horseshoe Bend and it was already packed! Waking up early will be worth it because the views are absolutely gorgeous! Even though it's a short walk to Horseshoe Bend, make sure to take water with you. The Arizona heat is brutal.
Next, we did our Lower Antelope Canyon tour. You can only see these slot canyons by going on a tour. We booked a tour with Dixie Ellis' Lower Antelope Canyon Tours weeks in advance and thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Our tour guide was extremely nice and even gave us tips on how to take the best photos. The slot canyons are incredible to say the least and we're so glad we made this trip to see this beautiful area.
We stayed at Hampton Inn & Suites, which was a perfect location in between Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon. Their prices are reasonable and we got a very spacious room:

One hundred years ago, on February 26, 1919, the Grand Canyon was designated as a national park. But the road to federal protection was not easy. In fact, at one point, the canyon was called “a profitless locality” by an early explorer. Find out how the Grand Canyon became one of America’s most visited—and beloved—national parks in this video celebrating its 100th anniversary.

Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona. Winter with snow (Road Trip USA #3)
Grand Canyon National Park , Arizona, South Rim. Winter. Grand Canyon National Park is the United States' 15th oldest national park. Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979, the park is located in northwestern Arizona. The park's central feature is the Grand Canyon, a gorge of the Colorado River, which is often considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The park covers 1,217,262 acres (1,901.972 sq mi; 492,608 ha; 4,926.08 km2) of unincorporated area in Coconino and Mohave counties. The Grand Canyon, including its extensive system of tributary canyons, is valued for its combination of size, depth, and exposed layers of colorful rocks dating back to Precambrian times. The canyon itself was created by the incision of the Colorado River and its tributaries after the Colorado Plateau was uplifted, causing the Colorado River system to develop along its present path. The primary public areas of the park are the North and South Rims of the Grand Canyon itself. The rest of the park is extremely rugged and remote, although many places are accessible by pack trail and backcountry roads. Only the Navajo Bridge near Page connects the rims by road in Arizona; this journey can take around five hours by car. Otherwise, the two rims of the Canyon are connected via the Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge and the Hoover Dam. The park headquarters are at Grand Canyon Village, not far from the south entrance to the park, near one of the most popular viewpoints. Park accommodations are operated by Xanterra Parks and Resorts.

ARIZONA RV ROADTRIP - Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powell
Arizona RV Roadtrip- Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, and Lake Powell…..but let’s skip Antelope Canyon, because that place is bananas!
After last week's RV breakdown and mechanic problems, we were left questioning every decision we had made that lead us to living full time in a RV. Luckily, the remainder of our time in Arizona was spent doing an incredible bucket list worthy road trip!

We make and sell travel products on Amazon. They’re totally rad.

Like every other RV or tourist passing through AZ, we hit up Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend and Glen Canyon Area. Luckily, we heard horror stories about Antelope Canyon from every other tourist and decided we’d had enough photo ops that we could skip the crowds and spend the day on the beach.
Grand Canyon turned out to be a surprisingly easy visit. Since we visited during the summer (and on a weekend) we thought that we’d be absolutely mobbed by other tourists snapping away pictures. Luckily, we made the decision to get there at first light, which helped with thinning out the crowds quite a bit.
Since we didn’t have any place to stash Pepper safely and it was too hot to leave her in the RV, we had to skip the opportunity to do any hiking. In retrospect, taking a slow drive around the canyon and making plenty of stops at pullouts to sit on top of the RV and take in the view was experience enough.
Somehow, we ended up spending almost as much time at Horseshoe Bend. I’ll be the first person to tell you that this is probably my least favorite destination in our entire 2018 RV roadtrip. People are tripping over themselves trying to get a good picture and the view is really not as great as any of the pictures you see heavily filtered online with Instagram princesses posing in front. Nonetheless, Fin puts on an intensive clinic on how to not take a good timelapse video.
Finally, we made a decision which would start to affect the entire rest of our trip- Should we see Antelope Canyon or do what we wanted, which was sit at a Lake Powell beach with some cold drinks? It was here we realized that we needed to stop doing the things we thought we SHOULD do and instead focus on activities that we actually WANTED to do. Glen Canyon area was incredible and we had two great days spent camping 100ft away from the lake.
PS- No, I should not have flown a drone at Lake Powell. I didn’t know at the time I was in a no-drone zone. My apologies to the water and the rocks that I offended.

RV Travel Life | Grand Canyon National Park & Changes to Channel
Seeking information for/from Veterans. We have always had a passion for helping Veterans and we have found ways to make this a little easier. In the beginning of the video we talk about how we are wanting to dedicate a segment at the end or beginning of each video to showing services that will help Veterans travel more. Since we have been traveling John is able to see his brothers from the Army who he hasn't seen in years when we were land locked in our former lives. It has really helped him, and he has been able to communicate, and help them out when needed. There are so many benefits to this lifestyle for Vets that are not discussed very much at all. If you know of anything that we could help share, please email us at Hebardstravels@gmail.com .
From Lake Powell, we drove to the Grand Canyon. We decided to leave the 5th wheel at Lake Powell but take the dogs with us. Since it is a 2.5 hour drive out to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, we ended up staying all day long! The pups got to get out and experience the sights at the GCNP as well! While this National Park is dog friendly, they will need to be well behaved, not fearful of people (there were A LOT of people, and the weather was not very good).
Weather is a factor at this location. At Lake Powell we were at 3,800 feet elevation. At the top of the Grand Canyon on the South Rim we were up to 7,800 feet. It was 70 degrees in the morning when we left Lake Powell, and 37 degrees at the top, and it dropped to 32 degrees. We thought we would get some rain because the storms were building quickly, then it snowed. Our point is that you should dress in layers, and be prepared in case you run into a storm :)

Traveling United States | The Grand Canyon National Park Tour | Grand Canyon Skywalk Weather Hotel R
Here is the video of Grand Canyon National Park where you can find the Skywalk with the wonderful weather and view. Where I've been there alone I really don't know where is the grand canyon
where is the railway, and where is the hotel, but it is very cool place ever that I can't forget.
Grand Canyon National Park was named as an official national park in 1919,[4] but the landmark had been well known to Americans for over thirty years prior.[citation needed] In 1903, President Theodore Roosevelt visited the site and said: The Grand Canyon fills me with awe. It is beyond comparison—beyond description; absolutely unparalleled through-out the wide world... Let this great wonder of nature remain as it now is. Do nothing to mar its grandeur, sublimity and loveliness. You cannot improve on it. But what you can do is to keep it for your children, your children's children, and all who come after you, as the one great sight which every American should see.[5]
Despite Roosevelt's enthusiasm and his strong interest in preserving land for public use, the Grand Canyon was not immediately designated a national park. The first bill to create Grand Canyon National Park was introduced in 1882 by then-Senator Benjamin Harrison, which would have made Grand Canyon National Park the nation's second, after Yellowstone National Park. Harrison unsuccessfully reintroduced his bill in 1883 and 1886; after his election to the presidency, he established the Grand Canyon Forest Reserve in 1893. Theodore Roosevelt created the Grand Canyon Game Preserve by proclamation on 28 November 1906[6] and Grand Canyon National Monument in 1908. Further Senate bills to establish the site as a national park were introduced and defeated in 1910 and 1911, before the Grand Canyon National Park Act was finally signed by President Woodrow Wilson in 1919. The National Park Service, established in 1916, assumed administration of the park.
The creation of the park was an early success of the conservation movement. Its national park status may have helped thwart proposals to dam the Colorado River within its boundaries. (Later, the Glen Canyon Dam would be built upriver.) In 1975, the former Marble Canyon National Monument, which followed the Colorado River northeast from the Grand Canyon to Lee's Ferry, was made part of Grand Canyon National Park. In 1979, UNESCO declared the park a World Heritage Site.

If you LIKE the video, hit LIKE If you LOVE the video, SUBSCRIBE!
When you arrive with your backpack in the united states you will soon realize that distances are HUGE, and that you will need a vehicle to get around. Your options are pretty much;
a) lifting, which takes ages and can be dangerous in some areas but is FREE and can save you a ton of money!
b) rent a car, which is not expensive in the US but you will need to find daily accomodation, which in the end will make it expensive again!
c) rent an RV, expensive but luxurious, petrol bills will also kick in bad and takes pretty much the whole backpacking experience away.
d) OUR FAVORITE! A cool campervan! A much calculated decision from our side, we compared them all in full detail and this is your best t option. Much smaller than an RV, a little bigger than a car! Petrol bills are OK, can park (and camp) in regular parking spaces. No need for extra accomodation costs if you don't want to. Urban camping, often referred to as guerilla camping can be a rush. It's sort of illegal in most areas, but cops or rangers don't really seem to care. Not once have they bothered us in one month of traveling around the states!
Also, you are free to camp at WallMart! They don't mind as long as you get your groceries / breakfast / coffee there.
I will post a video with a detailed overview of all expenses and tips soon, make sure you subscribe if you don't want to miss it!

Adventure Hike of Arizona's Devils Chasm: A Hidden Gem in the Desert
Hiking a hidden and remote canyon in Arizona's backcountry in search of the Devils Chasm ruins. Although the hike is a relatively short distance, it is known for being incredibly steep with difficult terrain. On this day, we encountered waterfalls caused by snowmelt and recent rains, which really added to the beauty of this rugged canyon. However, these waterfalls and seasonal water flows also made for super slick rock and ultimately shortened our hike prior to getting to the ruins. But it was still a great adventure in an unbelievably beautiful desert canyon!
Here is the Devils Chasm video I mentioned by Jerry Arizona

MarylandMuse Ep1 - Havasupai Arizona - October 2018
The first of my adventures recorded on my GoPro.
This video is a summary of my 4 days and 3 night adventure to Havasupai Indian Reservation in the Grand Canyon. In October 2018 I flew to Arizona to go on this amazing trip.
Day 1 - We hiked 10 miles down into the canyon to Havasupai Campground. Including a pass through Supai Village around the 8 mile mark.
Day 2 - We hiked 4 more miles in to see the bottom of Mooney Falls, Explore Ghost Canyon and see Beaver Falls, before hiking back.
Day 3 - A short hike to Havasu Falls for a swim while the sun is out, (Havasu falls is passed on the way into/out of the campground).
Day 4 - The 10 mile hike out (considerably less filming as I was focused on not being the last one out!)
I hope you enjoy!
