All of this can be done in a day allowing you to return to Ljubljana in the early evening.

Lake Bled Travel Guide | Day Trip from Ljubljana, Slovenia Video Transcript:
Lake Bled is probably the most popular day trip you can take from Ljubljana. This is a lake that sits on the Julian Alps, and in the middle of the lake you have a small island with a church - it’s about as picturesque as it gets and it draws massive crowds, but first, the journey there.
Bled Castle is a medieval castle that was built on a cliff rising 130 meters over Lake Bled. According to written sources, this is the oldest castle in Slovenia, first being mentioned in a document from the year 1011. The castle is set up around two courtyards which are connected with a staircase. Once you’re there, you can visit the chapel, check out some of the exhibits, watch a demonstration at the castle forge, or eat at the castle coffee shop or restaurant.
After the castle visit, we hiked back down and started our walk along Lake Bled because we were still feeling pretty stuffed from lunch. Little did we know this would take us several hours to complete.
After eating our slice of Bled Cream Cake, or Kremsnita, it was finally time to arrange a boat ride to Bled Island. While you can rent your own row boat to take out on the island, we chose to pay the 14 Euros per person to have someone else do the hard work. However, if you’re with a group of friends or travelling with family, it’s definitely cheaper to just rent a boat and row it yourself.
Bled Island is very small and it got pretty crowded even though it was low season. Forty minutes turned out to be plenty of time to climb up, have a look around, and enjoy some ice cream.
Now one last piece of advice: we visited in the off-season and at the end of the day, we found out there were not enough buses to transport everyone from Lake Bled back to Ljubljana.
We weren’t able to get on one bus because it was full, so we waited an hour and a half for the next one. By then, more day-trippers like us had gathered, and once again, not everyone could get on the bus, leaving a lot of people stranded, having to find a taxi or other alternative.
There was a lot of pushing and shoving, and many visitors with prepaid tickets were visibly upset.
Because our bus was full, this also meant that even though there were several scheduled stops on the way back to Ljubljana, we couldn’t pick up any passengers along the way, many of them who had been waiting for hours.
Lake Bled has experienced a boom in tourism, but the infrastructure to transport people hasn’t quite caught up yet. After a nice day visiting Bled, getting out of there proved to be very chaotic and stressful. Hopefully things will change in the future, but until then, know that leaving at the end can be tricky.

Is Lake Bled in Slovenia A Tourist Trap?
Lake Bled is probably the most famous lake in Slovenia, but is it the best? It's certainly a beautiful part of the world, so we headed over to see what it was like.
As with most touristy places, a lot of them tend to be tourist traps, hiking their prices up to phenomenal amounts just because tourists are there, whether it's worth that much or not.
We visited Lake Bled in December and it was cold, but with the blue skies, the place still looked unreal - what a place. Actually, the whole country was amazing, it completely shocked us and is now up there as one of my favourite countries so far.
In summer, I can imagine Lake Bled being rammed with tourists, potentially making it unbearable, but as we were there out of season, it was really nice. As Goldie said in the video, Slovenia was the right amount of busy, not too many people and not completely dead.
Slovenia is a really nice country and somewhere I'd definitely recommend visiting, and I'll certainly be back to see more of the country.
In the middle of Lake Bled is an island, called Bled Island, which apparently was created by fairies. Goldie tells that fairytale in the video once we get to the island. To get to Bled Island, you need to get on a boat, and after walking past the boats, we walked back and ended up on the boat to the island. It's €15 for a return trip to Bled Island on the paddleboat. It's a bit of a rip off, but there's no other way of getting there out of season as you can't rent a boat with the rental shops being closed.
In the background of Lake Bled, you can see the Slovenian mountains which make for an amazing photo opportunity. On the side of the lake was a Christmas market, but in summer I can imagine all sorts of things going on here.
There's also a castle at the side of the lake that we never made it to.
so is Lake Bled a tourist trap? Kind of, but not overly. The boat ride is an absolute rip off, but the cafe on the Island was pretty cheap. Paying to get into a church is also something that I didn't fancy doing.

EP #63 | LAKE BLED, SLOVENIA // TRAVEL VLOG
Lake Bled! I took my mum to Ljubljana, Slovenia for a few days. It was our first time in the country and we thought it was wonderful. I would want to go back most probably in the Summer when the weather is much warmer or in Winter during Skiing season! We got an early EasyJet Flight from London Stansted Airport to Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. We missed the flight we were initially supposed to get on but managed to get on another flight the next day and it left on time. The returning from Ljubljana to London however was delayed and there weren't many good food options at the airport. Nevertheless, we made it back safe and sound :)

4 Seasons Fly Fishing in Slovenia
There are destinations that try to be appealing to fishers and non-fishers alike and then there are destinations that just are and Slovenia falls into the latter. Stunning scenery, history and architecture, beautiful rivers, ease of getting around, there is little not to like. This is a country that can be driven, either north to south or east to west, inside three hours. There are beautiful rivers throughout with water clarity rarely seen anywhere else in the world with a mix of wild and stocked trout. Slovenia is also the mainstay home of the marble trout.

Ljubljana | Lake Bled | Slovenia | S01 E05
In Episode 05 of Season 01 I travel to Slovenia. I focus my trip on exploring the capital, Ljubljana and take a day trip to Lake Bled.
I begin my trip with a stroll through Ljubljana to enjoy the architecture and tranquillity of the city. The perfect place to do just that is along the Ljubljanica River which cuts through the city. Take a slow stroll and enjoy your surroundings along with other tourists and locals. Take time and explore the bridges that take you over the Ljubljanica River, the most popular being 'Tromostovje', also known as 'The Triple Bridge'.
A short walk from Tromostovje I get to 'Mesarski Most', also know as 'The Butchers' Bridge'. This footbridge is known for its love padlocks and sculptures.
I set on a 55km bus journey to Lake Bled, located in the Julian Alps. A short hike takes you up to Bled Castle which overlooks the lake and guarantees breathtaking views. If you are visiting in the summer season, be sure to have sun protection, water and a hat as there is hardly any shade on this short yet steep hike up to the castle.
Bled Castle is not only an amazing view point of Lake Bled, but this castle is in fact Slovenia's oldest castle and most visited tourist attraction in the country. A visit in the castle's museum takes you back in time and a peak through the windows give you never-ending views of the Julian Alps.
After exploring Bled Castle and enjoying the views from above, I take a stroll along the lake. Watching people on their family outings, couples on their first dates and sunbathers takings a cooling dip in the calm and turquoise waters of the lake. The water is so clear, it is difficult to resist the temptation.
I hope that you enjoyed my video :)
