Fox River Trail (Southbound) Waukesha, WI - to Fox River Park
Fox River Trail (Waukesha) Description:
The Fox River Trail runs diagonally along its namesake waterway through Waukesha in southeastern Wisconsin (just outside of Milwaukee). A trailhead at the E.B. Shurts Environmental Education Center in the Fox River Sanctuary offers water, restrooms, parking and trail information.
At the trail's northern end is Frame Park, where you'll find a baseball diamond, boat ramp, picnic shelter, garden and playgrounds. Fox River Park lies on the trail's southern end. The 257-acre park is a beauty with wetlands, forests and wildflowers. A Nature Play Area offers rock climbing and two large slides, including one that's 32 feet. Picnic areas, observation decks and fishing access round out the park's many recreational amenities.
At West College Avenue (near N. Prairie Avenue), the trail connects to the eastern end of the Glacial Drumlin State Trail, which heads west toward Madison for more than 50 miles.
Parking and Trail Access:
Parking is available in the Fox River Sanctuary at the E.B. Shurts Building (810 W. College Avenue), which serves as a trailhead, and in Frame Park (701 E. Moreland Boulevard). A small parking lot is also available off Sunset Drive adjacent to the Boardwalk (just east of Genesee Road).

Downtown Waukesha
here's is the lovely downtown Waukesha, Wisconsin area.
here i am walking from the Five Points area near Main Street and Grand Ave. towards the Fox River by the RiverWalk on Barstow Street.
this City has really become a nice city to live in. it may not be Disney Land here, but it's home.
there's so much to see and do. lots of shops to grab a bit or buy that new couch or outfit at. or maybe play jokes on someone if you stop by the Joke Shop and bought some funny gags.
the RiverWalk area is really nice. i love visiting the river.
you'll see a Discount liquor store, i like that place. yes it's mainly for adults due to beer, wine and other alcohol reasons, but you can bring your kids too, to get sodas, water or other snacks. it's a nice place to get your snacks and drink supplies to have while you're watching the GreenBay Packers beat the Bears, or go on to win another Super Bowl.
you'll see a lot of restaurants and a nice antique store. you'll find really nice things at the antique store. there's a lot of them through out the Downtown area.
there's also a Panos fruit market, a real nice down to earth store for those who like shopping but are on a budget. they have nice fruits and vegetables and authentic Mexican foods to choose from. there's also a Panos market over on Sunset Drive.
back to the riverwalk. it's a nice place to fish off the pier or just sit and relax. there's a water fountain that you can stick your feet in on a hot summer day like today (8/5/2011). the City map you'll see near the Riverwalk, it needs to be updated soon if possible. many streets and areas have been built since 1993. that's when this map was added to the Riverwalk area.
if you ever drive through the city of Waukesha and drive through the downtown area, make sure to talk a drive and maybe stop in these places to grab a bite, or see a parade, or by yourself that nice new outfit.

Fox River Monitoring May 2016
In this video, we document our first river monitoring excursion. We visited three sites along the Fox River and collected data that is used for watershed management and planning. It's citizen science, but it's also fun!
