Winter weekend away in the Robertson Wine Valley in South Africa and the gorgeous guest house we found.
We made friends with the owners dogs who were away in Europe. They followed us all day on a hike through the vineyards.

The Cellar of Fraai Uitzicht 1798

Fraai Uitzicht 1798 is the meeting place for some of the best wine makers in South Africa. The cellar dates back to 1740 and is one of the oldest of its kind in South Africa with the original fermentation tanks. 1798 was the year the homestead was build. The cellar produces around 25000 bottles per year and these find their way to guests in their own accommodation and restaurant and to collectors around the globe.

The new 18-hole Robertson Golf course on the Silwerstrand Golf and River Estate are surrounded by the rolling Langeberg mountains in the Breede River Valley and bordered by vineyards and orchards. Described as a fun, leisurely course it is extremely golfer friendly, with comfortable walks from tee to green. It has a great mix of long and short holes, with course designer Danie Obermeyer's signature rivet faced bunkers providing punishment for the wayward shot!
