18. Narrowboat the Trent & Mersey Canal through Fradley Locks
I head north east along the Trent & Mersey Canal on my narrowboat through Fradley Junction locks. I get help from a viewer through one of the Fradley locks and another viewer sends me a smashing photo he took of Alice at Swarekestone. I then head east through the picturesque Shardlow area where there are lots of moored boats and boat yards. Then out onto the River Trent itself with sailboats and canoes dotting my route. I moor up further south on the River Soar where it's now time to stay put for a whilst and start working on the interior of the boat.

052 - Shobnall to the middle of nowhere in the Trent and Mersey canal
This is the second of 'our one day cruise' vlogs and like vlog 51 which was the first we haven't managed to make it any shorter. This is because we had a really glorious day.
We cruised from Shobnall Fields in Burton-Upon-Trent to the villiage of Willington where we had a chip lunch. We then cruised onto Mercia Marina to visit Midland Chandlers and ended up meeting up with lots of lovely viewers. There was also a slight mishap on the way in with Michael misjudging the width of the entrance and bumping the siding. Although looking at the dent, it was clear that he was not the first boat to do this.
From their we carried on through Stenson Lock which is the first double lock we have don in months, finding a wild tow-path mooring shortly after that.

Measham receives emergency equipment
The village of Measham is now well equipped for a crisis after taking advantage of a new scheme that encourages communities to prepare for unexpected emergencies.
Measham Parish Council has selected equipment worth £600, which will be stored for use in emergencies such as flooding, storms, or other serious accidents or natural disasters.
They were particularly eager to sign up for the scheme following flooding in North West Leicestershire last June.
The funding for the equipment has come from LLR Prepared, Leicestershire’s resilience forum which brings together councils, the emergency services and other partners.
78. Algae stops my lab swimming, I pass Willington & Burton on Narrowboat
I continue down the Trent & Mersey Canal on my narrowboat through the villages of Willington and Alrewas and through the town of Burton. I pass a large weir and stop to see Branston Water Park.

90. Wychbold Transmitters and Worcester & Birmingham Canal with Narrowboat Experience
This is the last six locks before Tardebigge Locks where we have to complete a mega 36 locks in one day. So it's enjoying the company and the gardens full of flowers along the way. In the distance, you can see the Droitwich Transmitter Station so I go take a look at them.

82. Is this a Stoat on the Staff & Worc Canal? Burgh Island & River Severn
Heading south down the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal towards the Severn, I spot what I think is a Stoat. It bounced up a lock side and jumped into the water. little did it know Molly my labrador was watching. I was invited to Burgh Island Hotel on the south Devon coast for the weekend. It was to celebrate my good friend Kylie’s 40th birthday. I met up with her and her I then descend down the correct locks at Stourport on Severn and then out onto the River Severn.

Trent and Mersey Canal Near Willington 21.03.2013
A visit to North Staffordshire Junction on the Cross Country Route, (see my uploads for footage of this) coincided nicely with a visit to Willington and the Trent and Mersey Canal. These shots filmed from the towpath on the 21st March 2013.
The Trent and Mersey Canal is a 93.5 mile long canal in the East Midlands, West Midlands and North-west of England. This canal was built to connect the River Trent at Derwent Mouth with the River Mersey at Derbyshire. A second connection is made with the Bridgewater Canal which joins it at Preston Brook in Cheshire. The plan for this canal came from engineer James Brindley. It was authorised by an act of parliament in 1766 and the canal was completed in 1777, including 70 locks and five tunnels.
Shots filmed between Findern and Willington. The railway line of the Cross Country Route can be head in the second shot. Of note in this video, cargo carrying narrowboat 'Princess Anne' of T&S Element Ltd turning round close to Mercia Marina.
Filmed in the company of Chris (cmeonthemove).
