M/Y Passion Ship Tour: A Galapagos Islands Luxury Yacht
Have you visited the Galapagos Islands?
On this M/Y Passion ship tour, you'll see a Galapagos Islands luxury yacht -- that also has a sustainable twist.
The Galapagos cruise has a partnership with WildAid, an environmental nonprofit working to reduce the demand for wildlife.
Andando Tours (who sponsored my trip) & Angermeyer Cruises teamed up with WildAid to help protect the Galapagos Marine Reserve.
To support those efforts, $100 USD per passenger is donated to WildAid on each cruise, and a charter is donated to be auctioned at the nonprofit's annual gala, just to name a few of the initiatives.
For those wondering whether you should visit the Galapagos Islands on a cruise vs plan a DIY land-based trip, here are my thoughts as someone who has now visited twice and had both experiences:
Yes, you will save money traveling the Galapagos by land, but you'll miss out on so much. There are a number of remote islands you won't be able to get to. Plus, when you book a Galapagos cruise everything is taken care of for you.
Moreover, when it comes to sustainable tourism, cruises are more regulated in the Galapagos Islands than land travel is, at least right now.

*Galapagos Travel Tips*
-Go a few days early before your cruise to settle in, explore local Galapagos culture, and do some day tours. From Puerto Ayora, for example, you can visit North Seymour Island and Las Bachas on a day tour.
-No matter what type of trip to the Galapagos you book, do your research and make sure you're supporting local companies that care about the environment. Humans can have a positive impact on the destination when they travel, and this is just one way.
-If you're the type of traveler that just wants to party and sit on the beach, this isn't the destination for you. It really caters to eco-travelers.
-Choose a small cruise. The M/Y Passion has room for up to 14 passengers, though they usually have less. When I went there were 7 passengers total, allowing for more flexibility in the schedule and a more fulfilling experience.
