Beach Trip Crete - Orthi Ammos Secluded Beach Frangokastello
Orthi Ammos Beach - sometimes you want a great beach day but you don't want the crowds. That was the case on this day, so Orthi Ammos made for a perfect destination.
To open, we traverse the windy roads of Crete's White Mountains before approaching the southern coast.
Orthi Ammos beach is actually so close to the more popular beaches of Frangokastello that if you have an arm like Tom Brady, you could throw a seashell over there and hit it.
That said, if it's tranquility and solitude you're looking for and not tourists, then enjoy Orthi - a peaceful setting inside a quiet cove with both sand and rock lining the coast with the crystal-clear Mediterranean waters. It's magical.
The beach has some history, too, with legend dating back a couple of centuries. We touch on that story, but mostly just relax, swim and sun tan. What a great day on a great beach.

Frangokastello (Greek: Φραγκοκάστελλο) is the location of a castle and scattered settlement on the south coast of Crete, Greece, about 12 km. east of Chora Sfakion and within the prefecture of Chania.
Frangokastello has an extensive, sheltered and gently shelving sandy beach, which has provided the basis for a low key tourist industry in recent years. Tourist accommodation is scattered over the flat plain around the castle, but the area's relative remoteness has discouraged major development.
