I am following in the footsteps of an ongoing fifty year dream: producing a full-color art book about the crystals of Franklin, NJ
Hi I'm Van King. This wasn't my dream, originally. In the 1960s, my friend Dr. Alfred Standfast's dream was to photograph Franklin minerals for an art book. Subsequently, six other photographers inherited and pursued this dream. Unfortunately, the photos they took mostly have been lost among the possessions of their estates and were never published.
Sterling Hill Mining Museum Documentary
A brief student documentary about the historic Sterling Hill Mining Museum. Not only is this mine one of the oldest dating mines in the United States, but it is also the Fluorescent Mineral Capital of the world. This film showcases the wonderful Zobel Museum, the Thomas S. Warren Museum of Fluorescence, and also goes inside the historic Zinc Mine. It briefly explains some portions of within the mine, and why the Sterling Hill Mine is so unique.
If you would like to learn more about the filming process I have linked a few articles of my work below.
