The Schönbrunn Palace is Austria's most frequently visited tourist attraction. In the palace the residential and state rooms with their original furnishings and decorations convey an authentic impression of the imperial lifestyle. The park and gardens surrounding the palace make Schönbrunn in a unique synthesis of Baroque art as well as providing a convenient and highly popular recreational area for Vienna's population. The 1,441-room palace is one of the most important architectural, cultural, and historic monuments in the country. Since the mid-1950s it has been a major tourist attraction. The former summer residence of the Habsburgs impresses with imperial ceremonial rooms and magnificent gardens. Maria Theresa, Emperor Franz Joseph, Empress Elisabeth and others once resided here.

Laxenburg and Mayerling - Austria HD Travel Channel
Laxenburg is today one of the many recreation areas in Vienna.
Besides a large English style landscape park, the castle Franzensburg is a popular tourist destination. Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth, called Sisi spent many weeks in this idyllic surroundings. Also two of their four children werw born here.
Originally Mayerling Castle was in the possession of the Heiligenkreuz Abbey before it was taken over by Crown Prince Rudolf of Austria, son of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth and converted into a hunting lodge.
Presumably he committed suicide here together with Mary Vetsera on January,30 1889. After that a church was erected in place of the living rooms and converted the castle into a cloister.

Travel Austria - Vienna, Center of Civilization
Vienna is clearly a center of world civilization. Filled with extravagant architecture commissioned by Austria's last Emperor, Frans Joseph, this city delights the eye at every turn. The boulevards and shopping areas are pleasant, the parks are wonderful. Locals are warm and accommodating.
Best of all, (for us), were the fabulous collections of art and antiquities. The Kunzhistoriches (main art museum - we can't pronounce it either), displays world class paintings in a way that is easy to understand. The antiquities are remarkable, and the recent exhibitions of royal trinkets is not to be missed. Nearby you can also view crown jewels, armor, etc.....
An afternoon at the famous Schönbrunn Palace is not to be missed.
Franz Joseph I of Austria
Franz Joseph I or Francis Joseph I (German: Franz Joseph I., Hungarian: I. Ferenc József, Slovene: Franc Jožef I., Croatian: Franjo Josip I., 18 August 1830 – 21 November 1916) was Emperor of Austria and Apostolic King of Hungary from 1848 until his death in 1916. From 1 May 1850 until 24 August 1866 he was President of the German Confederation.
In December 1848, Emperor Ferdinand abdicated the throne as part of Ministerpräsident Felix zu Schwarzenberg's plan to end the Revolutions of 1848 in Austria, which allowed Ferdinand's nephew Franz Joseph to ascend to the throne. Largely considered to be a reactionary, Franz Joseph spent his early reign resisting constitutionalism in his domains. The Austrian Empire was forced to cede most of its claim to Lombardy–Venetia to the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia following the conclusion of the Second Italian War of Independence in 1859, and the Third Italian War of Independence in 1866. Although Franz Joseph ceded no territory to the Kingdom of Prussia after the Austrian defeat in the Austro-Prussian War, the Peace of Prague (23 August 1866) settled the German question in favour of Prussia, which prevented the unification of Germany under the House of Habsburg (Großdeutsche Lösung).

VIENNA: EXPLORING the beautiful GARDENS of SCHÖNBRUNN PALACE (AUSTRIA) ????
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go visit the spectacular park and gardens at Schönbrunn Palace, in the beautiful city of Vienna in Austria, which were opened to the public around 1779 and since then have provided a popular recreational amenity for the Viennese population as well as being a focus of great cultural and historical interest for international visitors. Extending for 1.2 km from east to west and approximately one kilometre from north to south, it was placed together with the palace on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1996.
Austria is a German-speaking country in Central Europe, characterized by mountain villages, baroque architecture, Imperial history and rugged Alpine terrain. Vienna, its Danube River capital, is home to the Schönbrunn and Hofburg palaces. It has counted Mozart, Strauss and Freud among its residents. The country’s other notable regions include the northern Bohemian Forest, Traunsee Lake and eastern hillside vineyards.

Central Cemetery Vienna (Austria) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Central Cemetery Vienna in Austria.
Vienna’s Central Cemetery is an evolving sanctuary of both peace and faith that was established during the reign of Emperor Franz Josef The First. A special committee was made responsible for this project, and where it would be sited, and several municipalities that were not part of Vienna at the time, were considered, geologically, by size, and distance to the city. Finally, Kaiserbersdorf prevailed and on 22nd December, 1869, the committee approved the purchase. The tombs of Beethoven and Schubert are to be found in the cemetery along with those of Johann Strauss, king of the waltz, surrounded by angels with violins. Brahms ponders, with beard and solemn expression while Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart makes a nominal appearance as he is buried at the Saint Marx Cemetery. From the main gate a wide avenue leads to the mighty Memorial Church that is dedicated to Saint Borromaus. On May 11th, 1908, the foundation-stone ceremony for the construction of the church took place. Its architecture and interior is similar to that of Vienna’s Steinhof Church. The historical architecture of the building, also known as the Karl Lueger Memorial Church after the former mayor of Vienna, is one of the most important art nouveau buildings in Vienna. Vienna’s Central Cemetery is the final resting place for those of all religions, situated in a beautiful park with impressive flora and fauna: the splendid Necropolis of the Viennese!
