Utah Mountain Bike Riding, Antelope Island
- One in a series of Utah mountain bike riding videos while visiting Antelope Island, one of the largest islands on The Great Salt Lake.
We were supposed to do a 6 mile loop, but couldn't read maps or trails signs so we turned a short ride into a 10-12 mile adventure.

Antelope Island State Park in Utah
We are in the Salt Lake City area spending some time with our daughters before we head East. So today we decided on a day trip to visit Antelope Island State Park with our daughters. It was such a fun day, but the gnats were horrible. Even so any day spent with our girls is full of fun and laughter.
We are Jeff and Margie, a retired couple traveling the US in our 33 ft. class C Minnie Winnie that we call April. We are enjoying sharing our adventures with family and friends via YouTube. Thank you for joining us on our travels and adventures.
Introduction to Antelope Island
An introduction to the variety of beauty and adventure on Antelope Island, the largest island in the Great Salt Lake. Presented by the Davis Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. Antelope Island is a Utah State Park, and it's about 15 miles long, and nearly 5 miles wide at its widest point. It's filled with adventure, wild animals, photo ops and fun things to do. Perfect for tour groups in buses, or families in the family car. There's a state-run Visitor Center, an old ranch, horseback riding, a beach with showers and changing facilities, lots of trails - and in season - a walk-up grill with, what else? Delicious buffalo burgers..... Come check it out! davis.travel; 888.444.9771; twitter.com/DACVB.
Antelope Island tour- Great Salt Lake, Utah
Visit the salty beaches of the Great Salt Lake. We stop at Antelope Island, a National Park off the Salt Lake City mainland. The briny salt water is home to brine shrimp and algae that form algal mounds. Salt Lake feeds millions of migratory birds who feast on brine shrimp.
Vlog: Antelope Island Park is overpriced; near Syracuse, Utah; Salt Lake
$10 for cars, $3 for bicycles year round and no free days. People take nature for granted in other states, but in Utah, nature is much more rare, the state knows this and that's why they can jack up the price. It's just like the $15 they charge to go near the top of Mount Olympia by Port Angeles, Washington.
People are willing to pay these prices though and that keeps the business booming.
I was expecting the gate guard to live in a trailer near the shack, but maybe she drives from a house. Many times these park security will live on the property.

50 Campfires : Antelope Island State Park Utah
Antelope Island State Park, is just a short 50-mile drive from Salt Lake City and is the largest State Park in Northern Utah spanning over twenty eight thousand acres. It became a state park in 1981, but got its name in 1845 when the first known Anglo exploration of the island took place. The park is part of a basin and range mountain located between the Wasatch and Sierra Nevada ranges. Frary Peak is the highest point of the island at 6,596 feet above shore level.
The island is home to free-roaming pronghorn antelope, big horn sheep, bison herds and many other forms of wildlife. Animals can be seen throughout the park and make for wonderful photo opportunities against a truly beautiful backdrop.
Throughout the park you are surrounded by Great Salt Lake, the largest natural lake west of the Mississippi River. Covering seventeen hundred square feet, four distinct shorelines can be seen from the island. With over 250 bird species the lake is a bird watchers paradise as nearly 80% of Utah's wetlands surround Great Salt Lake making it a very important ecosystem for migratory and nesting birds.
Open year round, the park is perfect for numerous recreational activities including camping, horseback riding and hiking. There is even a small marina with the opportunity to rent kayaks and boats. Primitive campsites are available in both Bridger Bay and White Rock Bay and come equipped with a picnic table, fire pit and charcoal grill. During your stay set out on one of the numerous hiking trails providing unforgettable backcountry views of the island.
A visit to Antelope Island State Park will provide you with stunning views of Great Salt Lake, the Wasatch Mountains, numerous wildlife and salt flats ranging as far as the eye can see.

Day 31: Swimming in Salt Lake
Today, we headed to Salt Lake City, Utah. Our destination was Antelope Island, a state park surrounded by The Great Salt Lake and home to antelope and bison. The lake has no outlet for water to flow causing the salinity levels to reach 25%, much higher than an ocean. This makes swimming a challenge. You are pushed to the top making floating the position of choice. Also, every cut on your body is lit on fire. The bison on the island are part of one of the oldest and largest herds in the US, dating back to 1893. Population control keeps the herd at 700 bison, as this is the amount the island can support.

HERE'S ARE AWESOME ANTELOPE ISLAND VID!!! PLEASE CHECK IT OUT, and Subscribe. If that's what you want to do. Antelope Island is such a cool place. Everywhere you look theres some type of animal roaming around. Whether it's buffalo, antelope or coyote. We managed to get some cool shots and do the rad hike to the top point of the mountain, right in the middle of the Salt Lake. After that we checked out the visitor center. Then, headed to our camping spot, set up tent, made a fire and cooked a huge feast of eggs, bacon, pork and some wild scallops we found on the trail. We accidentally packed a smaller tent but it was still a lot of fun! Please leave a comment and let us know how you like our content. We love you guys and we want to make videos that you will all enjoy. Remember to get out there and explore, live life and stay loved! See you guys in the next one!
