Fraser Island stretches over 123 kilometres in length and 22 kilometres at its widest point. With an area of 184 000 hectares it is the largest sand island in the world.
Fraser Island's World Heritage listing ranks it with Australia's Uluru, Kakadu and the Great Barrier Reef.
You will find that Tasman Venture offer the best tours. The staff is fantastic and very friendly. The kayaking, the snorkelling, the whale watching and the tubing is great fun. The island is stunning and you will experience a great day.

Just a quick video I put together while exploring Hervey Bay & Fraser Island. I didn't travel this year, so it was my only opportunity (yet again) to put something together.
Fraser Island Tour From Hervey Bay - Remote Fraser Island Experience
There are not that many Fraser Island tours from Hervey Bay. The Remote Fraser Island Experience by Tasman Ventures Is Whale Watching Tour that also stops on Fraser Island. The Fraser Island Remote Experience is a day trip to the remote west coast of Fraser Island. During humpback whale watching season, this day tour is usually combined with whale watching as the Island Venture cruises waters near Fraser Island.

As I’ve joined this tour during humpback whale watching season, I’m really hoping to get a close look at some humpback whales. Each year, thousands of humpback whales migrate from their feeding grounds in Antarctica to warmer waters where they mate and give birth. The protected waters between Fraser Island and Hervey Bay are one of the best places in the world to see humpback whales during their migration. The whales rest and play here before continuing their journey back to Antarctica.
Not long after we left Hervey Bay, we came across several pods of Humpback Whales. Each time, the skipper brought the boat to a halt to enable us to experience the antics of these magnificent whales who appeared just as interested in us as we were in them.
After being with the whales about 30 mins it was time to say goodbye, which they responded with a tail slap, and we continue to our first destination on the West Coast of Fraser Island.
On Fraser Is we spent time walking along the pure white sandy beaches, swimming and tubing in the crystal-clear waters.
We climbed a high sand dune where we took in the fantastic views of the Great Sandy Marine Park. We also waded through the cool fresh water of Awinya Creek.
Time passed quickly and it was time to board Sea Legs to transfer back to the Island Venture for the return trip to the Urangan Marina.

Fishing Hervey Bay - Fraser Island
After putting off our trip to fish the pristine waters of Hervey Bay - Fraser Island due to the fact of bad weather and a serious of unfortunate events to do with life and the boat breaking down we finally just bit the bullet and headed up. ↓↓More Info↓↓
Fishing a new area can be hard, a lot the marks we had for reefs had nothing on them. So We fished the handful that did resulting in a nice sized Golden Trevally for me, a number of Tea leaf Trevallies and a bunch of beautiful small reef fish.
The spotted mackerel and the tuna were in full force busting up on the surface all over the joint but once I've caught a few the novelty wears off.
All in all we had a beautiful trip sleeping on the boat for 3 nights.

We also spent a day out on the calm glassy waters of the bay whale watching. These calm protected waters offer a natural playground for thousands of Humpback Whales each year. This was absolutely amazing!

Hervey Bay is a bay and a city in the Fraser Coast Region of Queensland, Australia.It is a natural bay between the Queensland mainland and nearby Fraser Island. The local economy relies on tourism which is based primarily around whale watching in Platypus Bay to the north, ferry access to Fraser Island, accessible recreational fishing and boating and the natural north facing, calm beaches with wide undeveloped foreshore zones.
Urangan Pier is a historic pier in Urangan, Hervey Bay.
It is a former deep-water, cargo-handling facility originally built to facilitate the export of sugar, timber and coal. The pier, served by the extension of the railway line from Pialba, was used for the transfer of cargo between rail and ships. It was built between 1913 and 1917,[2] originally to a length of 1107 metres. The pier was closed in 1985, and 239 metres of it was demolished. However, due to public outcry, 868 metres of the pier was left, and the land was handed to the Hervey Bay City Council.
By 2009 the last 220-metre section of the pier had been fully restored, and the original timber pylons had been replaced with steel pylons with a plastic covering

On Thursday, the 3rd of February 2011, Cyclone Yasi, the largest recored cyclone in Australia, crossed the Queensland coast. In a place where there shouldn't be surf, many miles away, it was pumping.
