Fred Olsen Express Ferry - Lanzarote to Fuerteventura
The ferries between Fuerteventura and Lanzarote run roughly once an hour and are operated by Armas (slow ferry) and this one, Fred Olsen Express (fast ferry).

We caught the 16:00 Fred Olsen Express ferry from Playa Blanca, Lanzarote which took us to Corralejo, Fuerteventura. It is the fastest of the two ferries and takes around 25 minutes. It is much smaller than the Armas ferry with less space outside. The interior is quite smart and comfortable and there is a small shop and a cafe.
We took advantage of the Canary Island residents' discount so our one-way trip from Lanzarote to Fuerteventura, with a car, only cost 32.50€.

Playa Blanca (deutsch: weißer Strand), ehemals ein beschauliches Fischerdorf, ist heute das drittgrößte Touristenzentrum im Süden der Kanareninsel Lanzarote. Man zählt 7.956 Einwohner (2007)[1].
Es wurde versucht, den Dorfcharakter trotz vieler touristischer Einrichtungen zu erhalten. Vom Hafen aus gibt es täglich zahlreiche Fährverbindungen der Reedereien Fred. Olsen Express und Naviera Armas nach Corralejo auf der Nachbarinsel Fuerteventura. Die Überfahrt dauert etwa eine halbe Stunde.
Westlich Playa Blancas kommt man am 194 Meter hohen roten Vulkan Montaña Roja vorbei, auf den ein Wanderweg hinaufführt, um schließlich zum alten, 1936 errichteten Fischerleuchtturm Faro de pechiguera zu gelangen. Dieser markiert den südwestlichsten Punkt Lanzarotes. Direkt daneben erbaute man 1986 einen neuen, höheren Leuchtturm.
Etwas nordöstlich des Ortes findet man die beliebten Papagayo-Strände.
