Copenhagen Part 5 - National Museum of Denmark | Frederiksborg Palace | Baroque Gardens
Rain rain go away! But it's ok, we made the best of our last 2 days in Copenhagen. While our trip to the National Museum of Denmark was cut short, we still had an awesome day exploring Frederiksborg Palace (Castle?) and the absolutely gorgeous Baroque Gardens in the rear. Definitely one of most beautiful places I've ever visited!

Situated on three islets in the Slotssøen (castle lake), it is adjoined by a large formal garden in the Baroque style.

Thanks to public support and the brewer J. C. Jacobsen,
the building and its apartments were fully restored by 1882 when it was reopened to the public as the Danish Museum of National History.
Open throughout the year, the museum contains the largest collection of portrait paintings in Denmark.
It also provides visitors with an opportunity to visit several of the castle's state rooms including

Totoro in Denmark | Frederiksborg castle
Let Totoro the Traveller give you a glimpse of Frederiksborg, one of the major royal castles of Denmark, located in Hillerod, Zealand.

If you are the member of my Instagram family, then you probably know that I'm a huge fan of architecture and castles. Actually this is why I could not miss the chance to see one of the major royal castles Denmark opened to public.
So one sunny morning Catbus took me to Hillerod, town in Zealand province. I passed the Town Hall and joined a bunch of people, who, as I thought, were enjoying the castle view on the shore of a lake. It appeared they were waiting for a boat transfer to the castle, so I was very happy I stayed!
Little boat had two cheerful elderly captains, they spilled jokes in Danish and gave some historical facts about the castle for English speakers.
Frederiksborg castle (est. in 1600s) is very impressive, with amazing exterior, beautiful fountain in the yard and history in the air. I borrowed audioguide, which turned out to be an iPod, and had a nice tour in the royal rooms. Castle is full of fabulous interiors, portraits and pieces of art! Yeah, quantity of portraits was a bit overwhelming, for you to understand - approximately like in Kim K's whole Instagram profile :)
Royal Palace Garden, located by the castle, is no less stunning than the castle itself. It reminded me Peterhof in Russia and Arcen in the Netherlands at times, I think due to the Baroque style and fantastic work local gardeners do to keep it so neat.
