Rishikesh is a city in India’s northern state of Uttarakhand, in the Himalayan foothills beside the Ganges River. The river is considered holy, and the city is renowned as a center for studying yoga and meditation. Temples and ashrams (centers for spiritual studies) line the eastern bank around Swarg Ashram, a traffic-free, alcohol-free and vegetarian enclave upstream from Rishikesh town.

The jungles and riversides dotting the serene landscape of Rishikesh is the place where the sages practiced meditation and yoga(the ancient art of mind and body well being). Over the years the place has evolved into the Yoga Capital Of the World. It is now the most sought after spiritual hub thronged by visitors from different parts of the world. So in this episode we are presenting you an off beat exploration pertaining to our brief tryst with Yoga in the holy city.
To understand the significance of Yoga we reached the World Peace Yoga School which is a retreat cum training center. Both national and international visitors come here to learn this ancient practice of mind-body well being. They enroll for different courses and services that promises harmony and peace in oneself. Here we met the manager of the retreat who briefed us about the various practices that are followed here. He told us about the different forms of yoga and the general routine of the place. We then visited the kitchen to see the kind of food that fosters such a harmonious existence.
The peaceful environment at the dining space was a tell tale sign of the correlation between light and healthy food and body. Watch this special video to learn more about this off beat exploration.

Free Stay in Ashram Review Accommodation in Haridwar Rishikesh Delhi Mumbai Amritsar India ????
I always plan my trip in advance, at least 3-4 month in advance. This time I wanted to travel without much planning. Only focus was, to travel around Kerala and tamilnadu, going with flow and accepting most of the recommendation by locals on the way...
As I was about to start, and I came across Anandashram where a local said I can stay there 2 nights free and also can do some sightseeing around. However, I'm done with so much sightseeings since 2009, I'm not much focused on that. But it was ashram, as a spiritual seeker, I liked to explore daily activities of the ashram. I have visited other places are in India like Mumbai, Delhi, haridwar, rishikesh Varanasi, Amritsar. These places are having many ashrams, gurdwaras where one can stay free or give any amount as donation. You can also learn more about their spiritual practice.
......
Now let me tell you about anandashram, I have contacted them via email and within a day I got invitation to experience it.
Initially, I requested for 3 night to week long stay. Later requested with swami Muktananda and ended up staying total 13 days long. As I met swami Muktananda, I felt like he was reading my mind as he accepted my request almost before I start saying to him.
In this ashram, there was no idols warship, any cast or people from any religion are welcome. Which I find very unique and different than last 2 ashrams which I've visited.
Anandashram provided me a twin sharing room, all meals that also less spicy and vegetarian. You will hardly feel hungry there.
Anandashram having their own goshala with many cows, rice farm land, many herbal plants and trees around.
In those 13 days I have attended almost all daily activities like full day ram Nam chanting from 6am to 6pm, morning prayer, evening satsang, afternoon and night arati, also did some seva in bookstall. It was really wonderful experience for me in anandashram. Best thing I liked is evening Satsang by swami Muktananda.
However, don't expect that people or followers staying in and around the ashram are enlightened
➡️Guruvanam
When I was staying in anandashram, I met some spiritual seekers. Especially One from Chennai and another from tripura got connected very well with me. We planned to go for a walk to Guruvanam which was around 7 km away, a forest in the hills where Bhagawan Nityananda sat on penance, is now a pilgrim retreat.
Details about Nityananda's birth are relatively unknown. According to his disciples, Nityananda was found as an abandoned infant in Tuneri village, Kozhikode, Kerala, India by a lady named Uniamma Nair, who was married to Chathu Nair. The Nair couple adopted this child and took care of him along with their own five children.
Even in childhood, Nityananda seemed to be in an unusually advanced spiritual state, which gave rise to the belief that he was born enlightened. He was eventually given the name Nityananda, which means, always in bliss. After visiting guruvanam, we visited nityanada Ashram which is another 3 km walk from guruvanam and then visited beach which was just 2km from Nityanada Ashram.
I have not taken video and photos of inside part as it was prohibited. The place was very calm and peaceful, with so much vibration around the cave area. Best time to visit to visit is before 8am and very good place for meditation....

BEST FOOD IN HARIDWAR | WE ATE FOR FREE | INDIA TRAVEL VLOG
What a great choice to stop for two nights in the very holy city of HARIDWAR, before going to Rishikesh.
In this video we go on our own FOOD TOUR around the city and enjoy some very delicious, and some not so delicious food. In one of the little restaurants the owner is super pleased that we're reviewing his food and feeds us a lot of extras and then refuses to charge us.
We also walk up a hill to watch the sunset, but instead of a great view we find ourselves squashed among crowds of devoted pilgrims receiving blessings in the Mata Mansa Devi temple.
We end the the day watching the Aarti Ceremony at the river Ganges and have delicious Thali for dinner.
