Queenstown Hill Walkway, Queenstown, New Zealand
Queenstown Hill Walkway, Queenstown
It was the fourth day in Queenstown. We planned to climb up Queenstown hill. Just minutes from the bustling hub of the town centre, the Queenstown Hill trail has to be one of the most popular and accessible scenic walks in Queenstown. The gentle gradient and stunning scenery make it enjoyable for the visitors. It took us two hours return.
The walk begins amongst the Douglas Fir forest, and will take you through a spectacular display of cairn rock sculptures made by previous walkers. From here the trail spreads into open grassland, with terrific views of Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu and the striking mountain peaks which dominate the skyline. Atop the hill is Basket of Dreams sculpture by Caroline Robinson, a popular lookout spot, built to commemorate the Millennium.
The Background music is played by Phillip's own piece

THINGS TO SEE AND DO IN QUEENSTOWN | Queenstown Travel Guide | New Zealand
Hey guys!
We had a blast in Queenstown during our first-ever trip to New Zealand. Queenstown is a beautiful resort destination in Otago in the south-west of New Zealand's South Island. It perfectly sits on the shores of the South Island’s Lake Wakatipu, with the Remarkables mountain range in the background. Queenstown is known as the 'adventure capital of the world' - the list of adventures you can throw yourself into here is encyclopedic – from bungee jumping to alpine heliskiing to zip-lining to skydiving to jet boating...the list goes on and on and on. This town is a perfect destination for everyone from adrenaline and thrill-seekers to visitors who just want to chill out.
Here are our recommendations of things to see and do in Queenstown:
LAKE WAKATIPU
Lake Wakatipu is Queenstown’s crown jewel. Upon arriving in Queenstown, you will undoubtedly notice the huge lake the town sits adjacent to. The lake is the perfect place to experience what Queenstown has on offer.
SKYLINE GONDOLA + LUGE
A scenic ride on the iconic Skyline Gondola is a must-do Queenstown activity.
You’ll be carried 450 meters above Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu to the top of Bob's Peak, where you’ll enjoy a spectacular 220-degree panorama with breath-taking views of Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Walter and Cecil Peak and, of course, Queenstown. When you get to the top, enjoy the spectacular views of Queenstown.
We purchased Gondola + 5 Luge Rides for $67. It is well worth the money for sure!
BUNGEE JUMPING
Want to conquer the bungy jumping in the land where they all began? Queenstown is the Bungy capital of New Zealand’s adventure industry, it’s ground-zero for commercial bungy jumping anywhere in the world.
The Kawarau Bungy Centre (AJ Hackett Bungy)
If you haven’t been to the Kawarau Bungy Centre, then you haven’t really been to Queenstown. This is the world home of bungy, birthplace of the adventurous spirit that has shaped Queenstown’s character and one of the most famous attractions in Queenstown, New Zealand.
QUEENSTOWN GARDEN
The Queenstown Gardens are just a few minutes walk from central Queenstown and offer a beautiful and tranquil setting away from the hustle and bustle. The gardens are a popular place to take a picnic, relax with friends and family and enjoy the views of Lake Wakatipu. This is perfect for those who prefer a more relaxing activity in Queenstown.
ARROWTOWN
Arrowtown is a charming historic gold mining town in the Otago region of the South Island of New Zealand. Arrowtown is located on the banks of the Arrow River and is just 20 minutes from Queenstown. This quiet and relaxing town is a must-visit if you are traveling to Queenstown.
SHOTOVER JET
Shotover Jet is the world-famous jet boat ride. This ultimate jet boat experience is the only way to access the spectacular Shotover Canyons. Get ready to experience gravity-defying stunts, the speeds of up to 90kmph, and hold on tight for the famous 360˚ spins and more.
We bought the early bird pass for $135 and purchased an additional of $60 for the photos and videos they took for our ride which we included in this video too.

City Description:
Queenstown, New Zealand, sits on the shores of the South Island’s Lake Wakatipu, set against the dramatic Southern Alps. Renowned for adventure sports, it’s also a base for exploring the region’s vineyards and historic mining towns. There's bungee jumping off Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge and jet-boating on the Shotover and Dart rivers. In winter, there's skiing on the slopes of The Remarkables and Coronet Peak. The Skyline Gondola carries passengers to Bob’s Peak for views of the mountains and Lake Wakatipu. The Queenstown Trail is a cycle path following lakes, rivers and vineyards, while the Routeburn Track is a high mountain hike heading into the glacial landscapes of Fiordland. In Queenstown, visitors cruise the lake aboard the coal-fired TSS Earnslaw steamship, or take scenic helicopter flights. In nearby Arrowtown, the Lakes District Museum examines the region's 19th-century gold rush. Excursions from Queenstown also include the 300km road trip to Milford Sound, a steep-sided fjord with boat cruises and kayaking.
Weather and Events:
Queenstown is a year-round destination, but it gets particularly busy in summer (Dec–Feb), when there are long warm days and cool evenings. Ski season runs Jun–Oct. Key events include The Queenstown Bike Festival (Mar), encompassing a range of competitions, films and concerts. The Arrowtown Autumn Festival (Apr) brings parades and markets to the historic mining town of Arrowtown. The Queenstown Winter Festival (Jun–Jul) has street parties, music and fireworks.

Walking Around Queenstown | What to do in Queenstown (for the non-adrenaline junkie)
Episode 3 of Wandering Around Queenstown, New Zealand - I start walking from my motel room and walk around much of the Queenstown center – while ensuring that I have a happy, peaceful, pampered day. SO MUCH BETTER THAN ADRENALINE ACTIVITIES (that’s what this girl thinks, at least) - I experienced all kinds of paradise while walking around this place in one day.
I didn't mention this in the vlog, but my chopper ride leading to the alpine landing was almost canceled due to bad weather. However, you know me! I held onto that beautiful, precious thing called hope, kept trying to manifest better weather throughout the day, and called them back around 2 pm to check if they would now agree to fly. They thought this pesky girl ain’t going to give up and said awwwwright….we’ll go! Woohoo!
There are other wonderful activities that you could take up in and around Queenstown, of course, depending on the amount of time you have at hand, how much you’re willing to spend, and a few other factors! What I did was DEFINITELY a more budget friendly option.

QUEENSTOWN NEW ZEALAND WINE TOUR with Altitude Tours ???????????? + Kiwi Craft Beer ????
On this vlog, I joined in Altitude Tours for their amazing New Zealand Wine Tour. Of course, New Zealand wine is famous all around the world, and a Wine Tour in Queenstown (aka New Zealand Wine Country) is one of the must things to do in Queenstown.
I got to Queenstown in the South Island and it was beautiful! And then it started raining, of course!
So what do you do in the rain? An indoor activity! I decided (kinda last minute with the rain and stuff) to do a visit to what I thought were three #QueenstownWineries.
It turned out to be a winery, a place that served everyone else's wine, and a gastropub type of place with good pizza that also served other people's wine and beer.
Now, I've turned into a bit of a lightweight as I get older, so stuff like this sneaks up on me. Fortunately, we were done JUST as I was getting to the point where I needed to stop.
Included in this video, in case you want to give them a try:
#AltitudeTours - They also other types of tours and not just wine. But they're pretty good at these!
Gibbston Tavern: Really enjoyed their pizza. Good beer and wine selection
Waitiri Creek Winery: This is a cute little church. They serve several great New Zealand wine and beer.
Kinross: Kinross is a place that serves other people's wines and they have a great selection. The food also looks very nice (though we honestly only ate a cheese plate). The cool part about this place is that it looks like it would be a great place to stay for wine enthusiasts. They have cottages!
All in all, it was a fun #QueenstownWineTour - and it was over before I had one too many! LOL!
Oh, and you go with a group and the tour is a lot more fun because of it!
FINALLY - I'd like to take this opportunity to tell you all that yes, I actually DO know the difference between QueensTOWN and QueensLAND. ????
