Senate Impeachment Trial Of President Trump - Day 9 | NBC News (Live Stream)
Impeachment trial of President Trump | Jan. 27, 2020 (FULL LIVE STREAM)
The House managers wrapped up their arguments against President Trump on Jan. 24. Trump’s team, including lawyers Pat Cipollone and Jay Sekulow, now has 24 hours to present their case. After Trump’s lawyers conclude their presentation, senators will have an opportunity to submit questions to both sides in writing. Following that, debate will turn to whether to call witnesses and subpoena documents.
Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives in December for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Impeachment does not mean that the president has been removed from office. In the next phase, the Senate must hold a trial to make that determination. A Senate impeachment trial has happened only two other times in American history and once in the modern era. At the center of the Democrats’ case is that Trump sought to withhold military assistance and an Oval Office meeting until Ukraine announced investigations into former vice president Joe Biden and his son.

ch 9) Slavery Without Submission, Emancipation Without Freedom
chapter 9: A People's History (Of The United States) Howard Zinn.
~
Chapter 9, Slavery Without Submission, Emancipation Without Freedom addresses slave rebellions, the abolition movement, the Civil War, and the effect of these events on African-Americans. Zinn writes that the large-scale violence of the war was used to end slavery instead of the small-scale violence of the rebellions because the latter may have expanded beyond anti-slavery, resulting in a movement against the capitalist system. He writes that the war could limit the freedom granted to African-Americans by allowing the government control over how that freedom was gained.

Dr J Rufus Fears - Story of Freedom - (4 of 18) - The Test of Battle: The Surrender at Yorktown
These are the times that try men's souls, wrote Thomas Paine in the winter of 1776. In five months, the optimism of the Declaration of Independence had been replaced by the despair of Valley Forge, when Washington's army dwindled from 20,000 to just 5,000 men. Dr. Fears tells the story of how George Washington rescued the nearly stillborn rebellion and ultimately won America's freedom.
The Story of Freedom in America is a complete, 18-lecture course, free and open to the public. Fears, with his inimitable style and his true wisdom, explores the American experience of freedom from the Revolutionary War to the present day. He tells the stories of struggle, sacrifice, and heroism that created the unique model of American freedom.

Wisconsin commercial loans
in minutes get competing loan offers for Wisconsin commercial loans But the lending state is no less affected, though in a different way. When the Borrowers government makes hard money hard money loans to a foreign government, it transfers purchasing power from the hands of its own citizens to that of the foreign government. In addition, unless the hard money hard money loans are immediately offset by the same amount of additional taxes, it creates inflationary purchasing power bidding for the limited supply of its domestic hard money dollars. It then, in order to make sure of keeping in the state hard money dollars needed by its own consumers or raw materials needed by its own manufacturers, insists that it continue to have the recession time power to impose export quotas. Export controls by our Federal Government have been kept for precisely this reason. Wisconsin commercial loans, Moreover, if our present hard money hard money loans are really gifts, we are deceiving ourselves if we put them down as assets. The money handed out is a direct loss. It must soon or late be repaid in our tax bills. This means, for one thing, that the hard money hard money loans our government makes to foreign lending brokers must be treated like any hard mortgage broker government expenditure. If they are not to be inflationary, unbalancing the budget, they must be met out of immediate increased taxes. When we are discussing how much foreign aid we can afford, we must discuss how much additional taxation we can afford. In such circumstances it would not be such a foolish thing (as some might imagine) to give away hard money dollars to hard mortgage broker states, for on balance it would be better to part with surplus hard money dollars than to create unemployment. . . . Machinery would be set up by Lender whose purpose would be to provide gifts of hard money hard money loans to states. • . . The U. S. Government will buy the hard money dollars, give them as gifts and reimburse itself by additional internal taxation. .. . If this is to play the world's Santa Claus, the Lending industry of Lender is both rich enough and should have sense enough to fill the role. This idea, in both crude and sophisticated guise, has been endlessly repeated in the Equity hard lender and Los Angeles press.

FULL COVERAGE: All day House debate leads to President Trump IMPEACHMENT on both articles
The House voted to impeach President Trump for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress related to his dealings with Ukraine after hours of heated debate Wednesday, making Trump the third American president ever to be impeached.
The separate votes on the two counts teed up an all-but-certain Senate acquittal, should House Democrats forward the charges to the GOP-controlled chamber. They also fulfilled a promise made by some Democrats ever since Trump's inauguration to impeach him, even as polls have shown support for impeachment declining.
The vote unfolded as Trump was holding a rally on friendly turf in frigid downtown Battle Creek, Mich., where thousands lined up hours in advance -- with some reportedly sleeping in tents beginning Tuesday night so that they could guarantee a seat.
By the way, it doesn't really feel like we're being impeached, Trump said at the rally. The country is doing better than ever before. We did nothing wrong.
He went on to say that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and House Democrats had branded themselves with an eternal mark of shame, and were on a political suicide march.

The Congressional Hearings on Meade at Gettysburg in 1864 (Lecture)
General George Meade had to appear before a congressional subcommittee in Washington in the Spring of 1864 to answer several questions seemingly aimed at diminishing his performance at Gettysburg. The several loaded questions leveled at him, and his corps' commanders, who also testified, appear in retrospect to be unfair at best, and a witch hunt at worst. What were the intentions of the Committee on the Conduct of War? Did they simply ask questions that needed to be asked, or did they hope to raise doubts about the administration's ability to prosecute the war? Why burden the memory of a great Union victory with innuendo's that Meade could have done more? Ranger Troy Harman tackles these questions and more in this lecture, featured as a part of Gettysburg National Military Park's 2014 Winter Lecture Series.
