The Boston Freedom Trail - We Brits Are Back In Boston USA
Part 3 of our American Northeast trip and we explore Boston’s Freedom Trail we Brits are back in the USA and we brought the rain.
???? Watch more of our USA road trips
???? You can read more about our visits at
Armed only with umbrellas we head out to explore the historic route through Boston past 16 significant sites which all closely related to the American Revolution.
For some reason, this part of history is not so widely taught in British schools!
Starting on Boston Common we follow the route past the Massachusetts State House and the Granary Burying Ground. It also takes in Faneuil Hall and the Paul Revere House.
Because of the rain and as we were slightly jet lagged we didn’t quite make it across the Charles River to the USS Constitution & Bunker Hill Monument
These are the highlights of our wet but still very interesting historic self-guided tour.

Walking the Freedom Trail in Boston
A great video for ESL students interested in American history, culture, and travel to the United States. Take a walk along Boston's historic Freedom Trail in this short video.
Let's Visit the Freedom Trail (Boston, MA)
The Freedom Trail is a historical walk in the city of Boston, MA consisting of many sights dating as far back as colonial times and around the time of the American Revolution. The trail goes from Boston Common, the largest park in Boston, all the way to the USS Constitution. In this video, I show most of the landmarks from Boston Common over to the Charles River. I do not show the USS Constitution in this video although I would like to get over there in the future. I would highly recommend this historical walk when you are in Boston!
Although I also do not visit the Bunker Hill Monument in this video, I do visit the memorial in my return trip to Boston in 2017:

Boston is Massachusetts’ capital and largest city. Founded in 1630, it’s one of the oldest cities in the U.S. The key role it played in the American Revolution is highlighted on the Freedom Trail, a 2.5-mile walking route of historic sites that tells the story of the nation’s founding. One stop, former meeting house Faneuil Hall, is a popular marketplace.

Marked largely with brick, it winds between Boston Common to the USS Constitution in Charlestown. Stops along the trail include simple explanatory ground markers, graveyards, notable churches and buildings, and a historic naval frigate. While most of the sites are free or suggest donations, the Old South Meeting House, the Old State House, and the Paul Revere House charge admission. The Freedom Trail is overseen by the City of Boston's Freedom Trail Commission[1] and is supported in part by the Freedom Trail Foundation[2] and Boston National Historical Park.
The Freedom Trail was originally conceived by local journalist William Schofield, who in 1951 suggested building a pedestrian trail to link together important local landmarks. Boston mayor John Hynes decided to put Schofield's idea into action. By 1953, 40,000 people were walking the trail annually.[3]
The National Park Service operates a visitor's center on the first floor of Faneuil Hall, where they offer tours, give out free maps of the Freedom Trail and other historic sites, and sell books about Boston and United States history.
Some observers have noted the tendency of the Freedom Trail's narrative frame to omit certain historical locations, such as the sites of the Boston Tea Party and the Liberty Tree.[4]
Members of the Boy Scouts of America who hike or camp along the Freedom Trail may be eligible for the Historic Trails Award,More Info

Like America's first park in the city center public park, Boston Common also conveys a message of hope to the tired city in real life. Murmurs in the park sees himself entrusted to the tune of Bach. Boston Common is used while the Puritans in the past grazing cows or military training, the colonial era and the place of execution he used religious heretics. Of course, now return to the bosom of citizens has also been used to place various demonstrations. Today, students and citizens to protest and support for immigrants.

Boston Red line marking well in a complex way a stranger gives travelers easy guide to the ruins of the Freedom Trail. 1776 is the first official American independence was proclaimed former capitol. Is it free at the time, was also a time for the largest building? Now it has become the smallest building around. Boston city center by the Trinity Church and John Hancock Tower is holding a side-by-side spot. 1877 Trinity Church, built in the Romanesque style, which seems to holiness brings the magical atmosphere of the golden tan and mixed godapjeok. 220m of a modern building John Hancock Tower. Trinity Church was projected on the exterior wall windows is like a mysterious secret door that connects the past in the present. Endless sacrifice towards the freedom and independence of our ancestors will bring benefits to future generations to co-exist peacefully with nature.
